All “wood” is not created equal. What type of wood did you use? What type did they use? Pressure treated? How’s the grain? Any knots?

The weight of the slug, and velocity are the main things you want to know when comparing one guns ballistics to another. The type of slug may come in handy when looking at long-range ability.

I read the review on the new 357, and the accuracy was Impressing, but the penetration wasn’t up to the 308 Corsair, same wide open setting and not getting any more shots either.
They said the 357 would penetrate two 2″ peaces of Wood back to back and the end would be sticking out the back.
The Corsair will go through both and still have power left, lots of it too.
So I don’t think it is doing what it is advertised to do, because of that test. Shooting in the end of a 4″ block of wood about a foot long the corse air will penetrate 6″ into the end of the block.
So They have a long ways to go.
Now the Crosman Maraud Pistol is sweet, matter of fact it is a dream to shoot. But they might need to go back to the drawing boar on this one.
My Guess is they are trying to put out guns like the older ones where people buy them shoot them till they tear up and buy another.
But that kind of money I herd mentioned is too much to buy and buy.
For now even with the specks I saw on the DQ’s, on his web site, i think I got a keeper in the Corsair. 😀

I think I read the DAQ .308 does numbers on coyotes?

Walter,

Things that go bump in the night.

Walter fucking Mitty. 😆

Dogwood,

Yes I have 50 and 100 yard range here, just have to shoot around the mexican pruning the grape vines today.

Seems turning those allen wwrenches is the worst part, gets m arthritic thumbs glowing in the dark, that and lifting weights, but at least I can still do it.

On the Rogue, it is going to be home gunsmiths and builders such as yourself that canabalize that platform, that truely come up with usable stuff. To me that thing is like a concept car from detroit, probably won’t get built anything like what were seeing, but technology will trickle down from it, and of course it was a home gunsmith that came up with the valve acording to Gaylord.

I think the neat thing will be sitting in the goose blind, shooting that shot cup Gaylord mused about without making noise,(more bullshit from Roachcreek).

What is a ‘Walter Mitty’?

I resemble that 🙂

Walter….

LOL 😀

working up a sprig combo is almost as taxing as new hand load combos

happy to say I have 50 yard airgun range in my backyard 😀

Dogwood,

Not worked up at all, just having fun on the keyboard, and at the same time giving hell to all those Walter Mitty’s on the yellow.

Unless you work for Crosman, don’t get your feathers in an uproar.

I have quite possibly been following marketing bullshit hype on guns of all types since before you were born. And having owned 30 some bullet molds at one time, I understand that part, why they would cost as much or more than Partitions is another question.

I must confess to being a little fatigued by the Yellow/Yellow press.

Now if you want to see panties in a wad, ask me about the 5 combinations hammers and springs and trips to my range today to try and get a decent velocity and accuracy combination out of the 25 Condor, luckily the range is only 100 yards away.

Roachcreek

jeeze, who pissed in your cornflakes?

Not everyone reads what the crossman hatting yelllow-tards spew out…..

as for $1 round, it uses a standard .357 bullet that you could mold yourself….

and at CLOSE range it would be more than adequate for a clean kill on a coyote or other MEDIUM game

so whats it for? it’s going to be a whole lot quieter than a PB, which will allow you to hunt in areas that you couldn’t before.

There are areas that are legal to hunt in but aren’t because of noise and round travel distances that would be opened up by this type of rifle.

yes it’s foolish to compare this gun to PB, but that is what marketing people do – stupid comparisons, don’t get yourself too worked up over it.

and you know as well as I do that there is a huge difference between hunting with a pistol and rifle, even if the power levels are the same.

The post I put here abut having to shoot a few thousand shots thru this thing to get the barrel seasoned, was a tongue in cheek remark, it was based on no factual evidence.

You can keep posting that if you wish but it was simply bullshitting on my part as I stated earlier.

I was simply poking fun at the concept of a buck a shot air gun ammo.

Having said that, I think the gun is a answer to a question not asked. It may infringe upon the velocity/energy territory of firearms, but it does so in a very weak manner.

And you air gun jockey’s don’t seem to get that about any so called big bore air guns. 145 grains at 800 FPS is equal to what in the firearms world?

Maybe a 3 inch 38 special with lead bullets. That’s it end of story, it is not a 9mm luger and it does barely tread on 380 velocity/energy levels with defensive rounds.

And who the fuck goes coyote calling with a 3 inch 38 special or a 380?

I carried those pea shooters everyday for years, I put them in my belt when I put on my pants in the morning, there is no great energy news there folks. I have shot everything from rats to men with that range of energy, again it is no coyote caliber, nor is it a deer caliber.

If you wish to hunt deer size animals with a big bore air gun, the bottom line is mass rules, as Jerry has inferred in the past. The bottom line is 45 not 38 and certainly not 30, personnaly I am going to 58. Sure you can kill one, but you can kill pigs and moose with a 177 also, but are you doing it humanely and with efficiently?

I dare to say, that I have killed more coyotes than any of you, and I would put money on that, unless some of you are retired air gunners for the US agriculture department, and I am here to tell you this is not a coyote gun, and that is where the forum lethergio’s are taking this thing.

Can you name me one major gun maker who has made a sucess of a electronic gun? Remgington tried it, they fell on their faces, on the Air Gun side, Daystate has one, and the battery problems are ledgend.

To me this is a untried, clumsy, idea that has never born fruit in the hunting field.

Crosmans marketing crew has turned into an Enquirer type enity, and you folks are reading it while standing in the checkout line, that’s okay, I do the same thing to learn about bat boy fighting Sadam Hussien, but I only see 60 year old fat women with curlers in their hair buying the rag.

Regards,

Roachcreek

Butcher,

Crosman never said 1/2 ounce @ 1100 that was Tom Gaylord who admitted he had never even seen or fired the gun. The 45 shots was never stated either. It was on the display in the video was assumed to be what was stated. I think it was a running total of how many shotas had been fired. Lastly, there is only one prototype gun, one that’s it. The Crosman rep did say in the video that the 90 gn on low makes 150 FPE for 20 shots @ 850fps, the numbers I got were from the online chat. I put in the 100 fpe with the lowest weight bullet as I assumed it would make the lowest FPE from what they are saying the fpe range is, which is 100FPE – 250FPE.

I know it was Tom Gaylord that said that, and didn’t ever say different. The 45 shot count was a glitch not a total of shots fired. I checked. Asked Chapman (the guy that posted the picture of the 45 shot readout on the rifle ) about the 45 shots on the readout and Jim said it was a glitch.

Yep it’s one proto-type I know. Eager for the final product to hit the market, and for a few average Joes to review it, so I can average their reviews (same as any other air rifle, or any product I am interested in really). Hope someone near me buys one and lets me shoot it a bit.

20 shots of 100fpe using 90grains
counter is a count down of shots remaining and has not been debugged yet

that is from the twitter Q/A from Crosman

Green Mountain huh? That’s SWEEEEET!

But that price tag………ARRRRRRGGGGHHHH!! I just don’t understand how the price keeps going UP and UP and Up and UP during this SUPPOSSED recession on new manufactured air guns. This is Crosmans FIRST BIG BORE yet they are more expensive than ALL OTHER out. 1500 bucks IS ONE HELL OF A GUARANTEE for a first time product.

I’ll still just wait a LONNNNNG time on this one. Wanna see what issues are gonna come up. I hope when people buy them, they do HONEST reports and that they do FULL reports. Not just, “hey, my rogue came in today, post more tomorrow”.

$500 gun with a $1000 micro-processor pressure control and shot counter.
latest blurb is $950

$1500 isn’t that what the scalpers are getting for those $600 DAQs?
if so not really out of line especially as Gaylord puts it ” power equal to powderburners” 🙂 sorry just cannot let go of that one
