Haley Scandalous, initial fill pressures and bore dimensions
I did about all I could today considering I did not have that stock as of yet.
I slugged the bore, it slugged out at .257.
I tested for fill pressures by filling to 3500 PSI and shooting one shot over the chrony and then repeating every 200 PSI unti velocity quit increasing, then I shot a strig with the 74 grain bullets and the 94 grain bullets. It was hard to keep it level over the chrony without a scope and holding the action, the speeds may in fact be a little faster if I had it perfectly level.
74 grains
3500 PSI=1074 FPS
3700 PSI=1096 FPS
3900 PSI=1100 FPS
4100 PSI=1088-1101-1083-1042
1101 is right around 200 FPE
94 grains
4200=970 FPS-1028-1005
top FPE is right around 220 FPE
Jack is sending out some more springs to raise the opening pressure.
And I am leaving to look for that stock at the PO.

Cedric?….you in the eggnog again RC? Anyway I think the swaging lube might be better for the sizing as it has a stronger film for lubricating but hell..some of those Lee dies are rough. I too have tons of the shit and like me it’s cheap! 😆
I dropped Veral an email today in ref to a 25 mould. What did you say your Condor barrel groove dia. was?

I have made and used gallons of that stuff. But when I got the recipe I do not remember the Neets foot oil being in it, but I get a great pension for my poor memory.
I used it for bullet swaging and for all my case sizing, I smelled like a sheep for decades as a result of the lanolin. And in SE Oregon that is dangerous at barn dances. 😛
It is a little stiff in cold weather and messy, the lube I mean, but it is water solouble, or how ever you spell that.

The mail sucks right now. It took 5 days for my HP mold to make it here from Oregon in the small flat rate priority mail box.
Even worse then that is my replacement hose from Joe B. He is 65-70 miles from me and it shows that it was scaned in on the 19th. It then shows it went from Huntington Beach to Anahiem which is 20 miles on the 19th. It then shows it leaving Anahiem the 20th. 2 days later it scans in at Bell Gardens which is no more than 15 miles from Anahiem.
Well it says it is in Simi Valley today but does not say it is out for delivery yet. So 6 days to go 65-70 miles if I get it today.
Cedric, those bullets were probably intercepted by some propaganda spouting neo-Marxist anti second amendment, anti American sheep droid and they are probably making a concerted effort to determine how they can use the “fact” that they just prevented a massacre from happening for the good of their totalitarian agenda. Hopefully I’m wrong for you and Charlie’s sake 😀

Waaaay somewhere at the beginning there were references to bullet lubes and sizing lubes. Have you or anyone tried bullet swaging lube for sizing and/or bullet lube?
It’s 2:1 lanolin and neetsfoot oil and or different ratios. Richard Corbin sells it on his site I think.
I was just wondering how it would work as I want to try it in the Ranger. As for sizing, I would think that it might be better than the Imperial wax but I don’t know. Just a thought…which makes my head hurt.

Dammmnnnn Man, them bullets still aren’t there? I sent them out Monday at 3 pm Cali time. So in reality they should have been there to you on Thursday no later than Today (FRIDAY) which is actually late.
But i guess they will get to you soon enough.

Nice numbers from 89grn bullets, for 257, that should be killer, gee Jack makes some master blasters, and they only get better.
Got it in today USPO got it into the post office in three days, amases me how fast Jack gets the post office to work, at times I think he may have his own USPO jet.
I had to refill my tanks and got them filled just before dark, and had enough time to run some strings RCBS 89 grain Cowboy bullet at 4400 PSI before the light faded.
While the tanks were filling, I fit the Stoner muzzle break to screw on into postion as it bottoms out, and drilled and tapped a set screw as it has no locking collar.
Then I adjusted the trigger to what I think is around 1.5 to 2 lbs, not having a gauge I could be wrong, but it is considerably better.
Jack in addition to testing the rifle with different springs drilled and tapped the bottom of the barrel band and left a reference hole to align the band when reassembling, I have had trouble aligning the tube and barrel with both the Ranger and the Haley when I reassemble them, so I had requested that he add the additional hole with reference mark.
Jack had gotten 1097 which I call 100 FPS with the 87 grain bullet in his southern weather, I was shooting only two more grains, but I was also filling from 41 degree tanks and as Neis on the Yellow has confirmed, that cuts down on velocity.
With the 89 grain Cowboy bullet, I got 1057,1069,1037 that is 225 FPE for the top velocity.
I suspect when I fire lap the barrel and in warmer weather this will surpass 1100 FPS.
I did fire some strings with the 74 grain bullet, they were in the 1150 range, but the light was fading and I reall did not get anything conclusive but enough to feel that when my sample 70 grain HP’s get here that Tof sent, they should be nipping at the heels of 1180 to 1200 FPS.

I talked to Jack a few minutes ago, he has the springs but his Shoebox is giving him trouble, he is having trouble getting over a 1000 PSI fill.
So he has bullets and springs and a dang good shot to test it, just no air pressure.
I am hoping it will push 100 grains close to 1100 fps, if so I will buy one of those long RCBS bullet molds and have it HP’ed by Eric.
With that performance and my Leupold/Holland Long Range scope, if I shim to get a 100 yard zero with my elevation adjustment bottomed out, I can get to 550 yards on the turrents and around 575 on the reticle with the turrent maxed out.
Whether I would have enough FPE/FPS to stablize that long slug at that range, which at 550 yards is around 710 FPS.
But a fellow can at least dream.

I guess when I get mine I will have take it and figure out different setups for different fps. I have century spring close so springs are not a problem.
