Q:

condor vs marauder

Can the condor in .22 cal shooting eun jin 28gr pellets at just over 1000fps
be as quiet as the marauder shooting kodiaks around 860fps and is it normal for the condor to have recoil with a 24″ barrel and shroud. Im a new condor owner and Im really not liking this gun, is it even worth getting used to? I love the awesome power but i must say that airforce quality control isnt the best the some parts on the gun just feel cheap. the top hat certainly be improved………………… Opinions appreciated

Well Lurk the individual groups i measure the outside to outside , then subtract the width of the pellet .221, to get the center to center group size.

the 16 bull target,
if you shot perfect on each target , it wold be 10 X 16=160 , so the easy way to score is to subtract each score under 10 from the total of 160.

Which i apparently did not add up right, it should have been 3 and 2, from 160 = 155 would be the score for that target.

Just the way i have come up with to keep track of the score’s or groups for my reference.

All of the first groups are with the gun set up in the 790’s for field target.

shaggy ,

the wind is always blowing around here, so you just have to learn how to read the wind to do any good shooting , i have pieces of plastic hanging at points between my shooting place and the target to watch for a consistent wind speed, and pick a spot to pull the shot off.

Ands i have a bunch of 50 yard targets so these were not anything special. here is a few more.

5 shot crossman hollow point

I am not trying to say any one thing is better than something else here, i am trying to show what the Condor is capable of. And i have been lucky enough to be able to learn how to get the condor to perform, and i am posting all of it to try and help others to be able to do the same.I am not easily satisfied so i will keep trying , and hopefully be able to put up better groups. 🙂

PB,

On your targets above, you have written in I think the measurements subtracting one from another. I don’t know anything about scoring FT and I wonder if that is one way it is done for matches or just your method ❓

Were you also recording the FPS ❓
I’d surely like to know the velocities and PSI for those super good groups. If you write up a booklet of this info, I would like to buy it from you. You’re postings are greatly appreciated ❗

Thanks,
Edmund

😀 Any one of my Marauders will shoot the lids off of a soda pop bottle at 35 yards, now that 50 yard shooting is some bad shooting groups. LOL. Must have been a real calm day, and no wind gusts like we have here LOL.
The biggest enemy a pellet rifle has is wind, and too much speed.
I shoot mine a lot. Those Marauders are tack drivers I shoot bees off of the Barn at 25 to 30 yards, nothing left but their legs LOL.
Air Force shoots better at about 2700 PSI and set at about 900’ds in the speed cycle.
You get more shots and better center hits. All of mine shoots good like that.
The Marauders shoot best out of the box at about 2300 Psi. 🙂

For a year now I’ve heard how HPs weren’t accurate past 35-40 yards.

Now I see that for 50 yard Field Target with low PSI they are great! That can make for a longer day of shooting FT. I was experimenting with using 3 different weight pellets to extend my shooting and now I can include HPs in the mix.

THANKS TO PB FOR THE CONTINUING EDUCATION ❗ ❗
I’ve learned that a cheep O-Ring behind the Top Hat is a good way to gain consistency and and shot count at lower PSI. Some say the o-ring might deteriorate especially at higher PSI but from what I’m hearing the o-ring last a good while besides being cheep to replace without dis-assembly or tools’

I don’t know if I have the patients or skill of PowderBurner to get that working with my E-TaC REG but it appears to be a WIN WIN ❗

And, as far as hunting small game you don’t have to go home empty handed just because your PSI is OFF Regulation and/or getting below 2000. A lighter HP may well have just enough energy and can be very accurate at 50 yards. ❗ ❗

Keep Up the Good Work PB 😀 😀

Here some more Condor Targets.

50 yard 10 shot groups

36 yard , one shot per bull

the shot string for this target

I choked ,lol

I haven’t heard a bad thing about the .25 Edgun. Even better, Ed participates in this forum. He is very responsive and that is just so cool.

I know what’s on my wishlist – thanks to Kawasaki – Edgun Matador !

He’s gonna get me divorced 😀 😀 😀

Started at 2000 psi and after 15 shots I was at 1400 psi still at that I was hitting my target right on at 45 yds.

All PSI rates are based off the gauge on the gun.

I’m now working with some starting psi’s to see if my groups can get better.
My groups as it was could be covered by a dime at 45 yds. (Groups of 3)

Condor groups were a nice raged triangle hole just a bit bigger then a nickle.

Still playing with them and thinking about what will be next on my wishlist!

Cool nice report. I’ve been wanting a 2nd PCP I may have to go with a Marauder. What was the shot count on the .22 Marauder?

OK, Just got done playing with my .22 Marauder…WOW

Compared to the Condor I have It is REALLY quiet and shoots great out of the box.

Both rifles are awesome, and my review is based on shooting both side by side and out of the Box. No Chrony used, I just based power off of pass thews of my back stop. (1 1/2 plywood) Both shootin CPH’s

My no BS review of the match up is as follows:

POWER :goes to the Condor….. Hands down
Accuracy: Goes to the Marauder
Shot count: Goes to the Marauder
Tune ability: Goes to the Condor IMO

Me I’m glad I have to have both!!!
So tonight lets see how the FC’s like the Marauder….Maybe they will give us a good Opinion 😉

WOK – I kept seeing notes on the Marauder forums about a guy out there that would tune em up for ya, and kept wondering WHY ?

I guess I just got real lucky with both of mine.
The only issue I had was on the 22 – The bolt came loose, but that was an easy DIY fix.
The gun shot pretty good I thought until I got the 25 cal.

I must’ve really got lucky on this one – shoots like a dream – they re-worked the bolt with a new design and stock actually looks like real wood 😀

I did spend an entire weekend re-working the finish on it.
Now it’s a right pretty machine 😀

BTW – YOU HAVE THE BEST AVATAR OUT THERE
THE MAN IN BLACK IS STILL THE GREATEST THAT EVER STEPPED ON A STAGE !!!

Kawasaki – we need to set up a combo hog/snake hunt !
I’ll bring ya a cooler full of your favorite cold ones 😀

This was from 47 yards not 50 and all 16 shots were NOT in the EXACT same hole…..one managed to float just a hair high right 😀

22cal at 47 yards, 16 shots… 😯

Shoot much? 😆

I need to spend more time at the range. 🙁

kawasaki i am using the condor tank, valve, just turned way down. try to stay at the peak of the curve and fill after 15 shots or so.

bolton59 . nice group

Maybe u could spot me 10 yds! nice shooting!!!

quote rbolton59:

Ok Fella’s – Couldn’t resist 😀

Had to admit I lied !

This was from 47 yards not 50 and all 16 shots were NOT in the EXACT same hole…..one managed to float just a hair high right 😀

Marauder 25 cal – 25 gr JSB Exact Kings

Kawasaki – now you get me a big hog tied up and round up some of them big ole pythons – I am filling the cooler with ice cold beer and headed your way now 😀 😀 😀

Nice shooting cowboy. Nothing like having a gun that shoots where you aim it.

Now truth be told so many marauders suck that they have to have a couple hundred spent on them to get them to shoot right. The busiest guy working on them is 6 months behind schedule just trying to get them right.
So it is nice you got a good one out of the box.
