.25 slugs
On the yellow forum in the classified section there is a guy selling .25 slugs 73 grain and 56 grain. my question is how fast do you think that we could push them down the barrel of a Condor. he tested them in a Sumatra carbine. I would post the link but I dont know how. The wife is in France 🙁 and took the brains with her. 😳

I only sent Cedric the sized slugs last week. The post office had not got them to him as of yesterday. Likewise, my other tester has been very busy with his business and has not had the time for a structured shooting session with the two sizes we want to compare.
Before we post groups we want to be sure we have repeatable results and not just a couple lucky trophy groups. The results with the unsized prototypes were encouraging and showed that even the long slugs would not tumble (at least not at the ranges tested). We’ve also seen that the power and retained energy is good as evidenced by Cedric’s ruined target backer. What we have not done is determine the optimum slug diameter for the Condor barrels that most of you have. We have not yet reached out to 100 yards to confirm that slugs that track out to 50 don’t tumble before 100.
I want to allow my testers the time to go and check these slugs in a comfortable controlled manner so I can recommend to customers a slug that will shoot as well as they can. I don’t want to just try to sell on hype or one picture of one group! We have several weights and sizes to choose from and not all of them will be good (at least not for Condors).
Some folks have decided to go on my intuition and order some slugs to do their own testing. I was hesitant to sell the slugs before I had full results in the bag but since I posted results for the modified Sumatra and since these customers know they are buying slugs I can’t show results for yet, I decided to make the sales. Knowing these customers, I’m not expecting blog rants if we chose the wrong weight or diameter…
So please be patient and when you see groups from me or Cedric, you can have confidence that they are repeatable.

Ahhh TEF, a wise man you are. For some reason, i just like the sound of the 62 or 7 ring version. They get my vote. I too think it is the comprimise of weight and velocity. 900+ fps just sounds good to me. Think those 70+ grainers are gonna prove AWESOME. At 50 yrds, they ripped through my target backing which was light steel. The rapid shooting Kodiaks at 930+ FPS could not do it at 10 yrds with repeated shots in the same hole.

Looking at those numbers I think that the 7 Ring might be the best overall compromise between power and velocity. Anyone else feel the same/different?
Man at 900-950fps those are going to leave incredible half-inch plus wound channels in a nutria, or raccoon-sized animals just you watch.
All that retained velocity and power downrange has got to be something to behold. Would make for one sweet silhouette smacker!

Thanx for the info Jerry. Also, when i recieve the other batch of slugs i am gonna shoot my gun without using that damned BIPOD to avoid as much frame flex as possible. She will be rested while shooting. And as for 120 FPE!! Thats too easy, all i gotta do is turn my dial up 1 full turn or so and its done. OOOH, what if i fill up to 33-3400 PSI and turn the dial up to 10. OK OK OK, i’m not even gonna go do it…nope, not gonna do it and put it on VIDEO. Stop beggin guys…..aint gonna do it.

Actually, given your fill to 3000 vice your max of 3400, you might yet see higher! That’s som serious power for a .25.
I’m with you on the size. I think .251 will be the way to go for most of the Condors out there. The issue I’m concerned with is the fact that none of these guns have a proper chamber cut into the breach end of the barrel to load slugs into. That might even be a bigger issue than the choke. For pellets, it’s no big deal but for longer, solid slugs it’s important to load them right. If you get the long slug started just a little crooked it’s going to be a bear to get seated all the way in. You’ll be fighting the initial error all the way in. If you had a breach chamber cut or you were loading with a bolt you’d probably find that .252 would be perfect (or at least the best for power and accuracy). Since the Condor is what it is, I’ll just point out to all who might try these or any other longer slugs; carefully load the slugs trying to ensure they start off STRAIGHT into the bore.

REALLLLLY interested to hear some accuracy reports. 118fpe? That’s just crazy-talk! I can’t wait! If they’ll shoot minute of squirrel at 100 yards (or better 😀 ) I’m all in.

PHEWW…..i’m back. Yes Jerry, that was them. Here are some more numbers with the 70+ grainers with a fill that is just over 3000 psi, fresh off the press. My gun can be filled to 3400 psi so velocity can go even higher, plus, my adjuster is only on 6.8 and i can take it up to 10.4 or so. But i always shoot it on either 6 or 6.8.
Ok, only did 3 different slug weights and only 5 shots per slug. Just to get an idea of power. I have never chronied the 70+ grainers b4. Accuracy to be tested soon.

JERRY, i also think either .250 or .251 is gonna be the ticket. Any bigger and you just might not get them in the breech. I just shoved in the ones that were right on .251 and they were fine to load. But remember, when i say FINE i am not talking about KODIAK fine. Those are too smooth 😆

3 error shots….damnit? I am sure it was in the very low 1000 fps though. It pushes the 31 gr kodiak at 1080 fps!!

Sounds very reasonable Jerry. Really, I’m not in a hurry, but this thread was quickly dropping to the bottom of the page, so I wanted to bump it back toward the top. I’m eager to see what the testers find is the optimum diameter for these turns out to be.
