A Baby .177 Cricket is Born
I would like to thank Steve and the gang at WAGG for a safe delivery. 😆 I do have the cheek piece but forgot to pop it on for the first photos. Actual targets using both light and heavy JSBs were supplied and impressive along with shot string results. About 900 fps with the heavies and 955 fps with the lights. I was actually looking to tune it to exactly 900 fps with the heavies. Too cool.

Hamminbird 00075 did those groups.

Good point. I wouldn’t want those to be the marketing targets for the Hummingbirds. 😯
I have declared war on anything that eats the 50 lbs of grass seed I put out last Tuesday and it appears that just about everything has found it. Two casualties so far but many more to come. These small dark birds are the worst with lighter bellies and I have no idea what they even are. They are not a Hosp but are about the same size. :4: Any bird watchers out there? He lost most of his head but then the pellet went through nearly the entire length of his body too. :suprisedn: 19 fpe is still a lot of energy for these little buggers. Next to try the .177 Predators. 😉
Update: Baby Cricket does not like .177 Predators at 900 fps although they work great in the magazines. 1/2″ groups became 1.5″ groups at 50 yards. Luckily, my Stubby with the 12″ LW AF barrel likes them ay 900 fps and I will try the IZH 46M VIP with them. They are too expensive anyways for what you get. 😡
Crosman Premiers 10.5 domed next. 😉 The only other pellet I will try are the light JSBs and they appeared to do ok at 30 yards with Charlie’s test target. Lets see if they spiral out further since they are up around 955 fps. Taking a break for now while the neighbors cats clean up the area.
Update: The Crosman Premiers are pretty good but not quite the JSB heavies. About 5/8″ groups at 50 yards. I would say for us in the US they are a good cheap plinking ammo to use from the tins. I have not received the 1250 box of Premiers yet to test which are supposed to be even more consistent. I forgot to add that I have some H&N Cudas/Kodiaks to try as well. They are 10.65 gr I believe.
Guys, guys – take all these grouping pics with a grain of Salt. Those say nothing about the prowess of that gun,any gun.
Maybe not the best shooter etc.
The only somewhat acceptable way of comparing groupings from different guns is if the same shooter does the shooting with the guns compared in the same environment under the same conditions.
Even that would leave something to be desired if the shooter isn’t equally accustomed to all the guns he’s comparing.
You truly should’ve known ….
That said the above grouping could be done with my Fathers old Bajkal -a 12 gauge Russian pre-War shotgun.

hmmm. That looks like nearly 1.5 inches at 50 meters. Hopefully, the guys can reign that in a bit when they get them tweaked. My Condor shoots like that with the Surefire slugs I have but isn’t really good for sparrow sized targets. Maybe opossums and raccoons.
I’m not sure if the hummingbird is my cup of tea. It may grow on me. I’m in no rush really.

If you want a Compact Cricket in .177 you must go through WWAG because they are the only retailer special ordering them.
The Compact Cricket in .177 w/ 14 shot magazine may be the best performing small caliber compact airgun on the market in the US. We will have to see what happens with the Hummingbird variations (hopefully more compact) and performance and other offerings yet to come but I see nothing threatening it at the moment.

Wow that’s very good something that I would be willing to except from a cricket. My Rainstorm isn’t quite as good but I am going to slow it down a bit and compare. Might even trade it in for a compact Cricket in 17. Never know with this crazy hobby 😀

I think I shot six 50 yards groups and 3-4 were at 1/2″ or slightly under with unsorted pellets. From my 30 to 40 to 50 yard targets I see no evidence of the POI shifting indicating any kind of spiraling as well. Out of the dozen or so groups I shot in total at all targets I had two where there was a minimal flyer that left the main group but just barely. This gun was really accurate out of the box unlike my R3 30 cal that needed some tweaking and leading of the barrel to get it up to a very good accuracy level.
Nice little compact Cricket.

Coda does she shoot dime size groups at fifty yards at that speed?

Yes about 5 mags per fill. I didn’t notice any spiraling with the 10.34 heavies at 900 fps out to 50 yards but I will put my HS camera on it to check it further. As Wingman found out it’s related to pellet head size relative to the barrel as much as just velocity and somewhat barrel dependent although the Cold Hammer Forged CZ barrels should be very consistent if made with the same mandrel these days. Its very easy to load the magazines IMO but fat finger tips might make it tougher for some I guess. I went through two fills or approximately 10 mags this afternoon and had a riot. 😉
Nice little compact Cricket.
Have you got about 70 shots? any noticeable spiral pellets at 900 fps? Is it hard to put pellets in the mag.?
Nice little compact Cricket.
I went through two complete fills with it this afternoon. There are a lot of feathers out there. 🙂 I just can’t beat fun like that.
I also added two Sharpie dots on the colored gauge. One at 220 bar and the other where it comes off of the regulator.
I need to lighten the 2nd stage trigger just a few oz. to get it where I like it but it is very close and nice as it is.
Awesome looking bull pup SEcoda, dang gone it, now you got me wanting one. I was perfectly content with my .22 and .25 standard length bug until you showed that beauty off lol. :butkick:

Cool. I am it appears to be a much shorter Hummingbird.
