Carette 4500 PSI Compressor Report
The Carette 4500 compressor is a Chinese compressor that seeks to fill the price performance gap between “big boy” dive compressors and Shoebox compressors.
Mr. Wang has kindly supplied a demonstrator unit for testing. As a demonstrator unit rather than a final production unit, the test unit may not match the appearance and configuration of the actual shipped units. This one included a PMV, high pressure air filter unit and automated condensate drain system. I do not know if those features will be in the final configuration. I have been told that the external finish will be better on the actual units. Also, the crankshaft bearing and rods will be more durable than those on this demonstrator.
I had hoped to be testing a unit that is an actual production sample, but because this is a demonstrator unit, bear in mind that the shipped product may differ from what I am testing. This does affect my ability to report whether the machine is a thumbs up or down. If the production units are worse than what I’m testing, I certainly wouldn’t be happy, nor would our forum members. On the other hand, I am getting very appropriate and encouraging responses from the manufacturer regarding my findings. Mr. Wang (Sincere) is actively improving the machine based on my comments.
For instance, he was ready about make changes regarding current draw based on my measurements. I don’t think changing the current draw would be worth it, if it slows the compressors. Also, the amount of oil I see in the condensate was already a known issue on this demonstrator. They already have a different component that cuts the oil bypass to 1/3 what I’m seeing. The oil bypass even on this demonstrator isn’t horrible. He’s also planning how to integrate the air filter on the compressor frame. It’s that type of desire to make a better product that I want in a manufacturer.
Rather than the demonstrator being perfect and production machines worse, we could end up with better production machines. However, I can only report what I am seeing and won’t speculate on what will actually ship to you. On the other hand, I have the impression that Mr. Wang actually does intend to deliver what he promises.

I can confirm. Bosun is indeed Sincere’s translator.
Translating for him a bit…”Group buy” isn’t what we usually mean on the forums. It’s not 100 buyers to purchase 100 units all at once. It just means the price is limited to 100 who can buy at that price.

No. It was a surprise to me when I saw the picture.
That and the pricing not matching some discussions makes me want to verify these are indeed listings from the actual manufacturer.
They could be, but lifting an image from somewhere on the web to create a sales listing is a known, nefarious MO.
I did notice that as well….I assumed you had given permission for it’s use….

I’m still waiting on word whether these listings are actually that of the manufacturer. It is just odd that the 2nd listing lifted my picture from this thread.

from how I see it ( correct me if wrong) the first one is $1199 w/free shipping, the upgraded is $ 1899 w/free shipping =$ 700 difference..
That is higher than what I anticipated as well, but it is the manufacturer’s choice (provided those are actually their listings).
I did wonder how on earth they would manage to add a PMV and auto bleed plus hold a $1200 price point.
The Air Venturi won’t have a PMV or auto-bleed. It IS however rated to be faster so having to manually bleed shouldn’t be as onerous. On the other hand, I suspect that higher speed could also be its long term undoing.
The base Carette machine will work fine, but one of the biggest plusses of the setup I tested was how convenient it was to just start it and let it do ALL the work. Was like using a toaster. No baby sitting.
The Carrete’s reasonable for build, slower rate protects the machine, but also means one would need (on the base machine) to manually bleed three or four times over the time needed to top up a Great White. The auto-bleed completely frees you from that q15 minute duty.
All the Aliexpress pricing may become moot if they successfully arrange a US dealership.

The price increase seems to be about 200 dollars with all the goodies…..then there is a 300 dollar charge for shipping a 100lb device from China via fedex.

Guykuo, as I have stated before in this thread , Thank you for you work , I was really looking forward to the improved version, & I expected a price increase, But not as much as the the improved model is, heck that’s $500 difference unless I’m not reading it correctly, & as far as the Air Venturi yes , I will wait for reviews , I already have a Airmax piece of junk (at least from what I have read here & other forums), I never even tried it after reading you review (removed from box , never plugged in ) so thanks for everything , roger
I would wait until someone does a detailed analysis of the Air Venturi to determine how much it differs from the Mrodair disaster. It is rated at nearly the same, high, CFM and shares the same two cylinder configuration. Unless, some major upgrades in build quality and materials are now possible at the same price range, I would be worried about longevity. The same physical constraints and performance raise my eyebrow. Granted, a US dealership to support the compressor is a plus, but it is still a heavy unit to ship back and forth.
No, I am not buying an Air Venturi to test a unit. This has cost me more than the compressor’s value in time and expendables to do the testing, tear down, and report back to the forum. Buying a unit just to test one is not going to happen.
Further, I am not keeping the Carette 4500 unit that was given to me for testing. Despite the early protestations that I was getting a free compressor, it was never my intention to keep the compressor. With my Bauer JR, I don’t need another compressor. So, I went back through the compressor threads to find someone who participated with strong interest, had the requisite mechanical skill to maintain it, is a couple years active on the Talon, and could report back to us about his experiences with the Carette 4500 vs the Fumigator Extreme.
It is that person’s choice whether or not to identify himself or report how the compressor does. He was put under no obligation to receive the compressor, but I would be greatly entertained reading someone else compare the two compressor styles.
The “test mule” was an impressive machine and I am happy to see it going to a good home.
