Q:

Condor Valves

Well it is finally happening. I know some of you have been waiting patiently for one. Second piece is there and waiting for a machine to become available.

Put them all in the lathe to scotch brite the threads. will put the hole for the VRT and then off to black oxide.

Hope I’m still on the list for a .25, please.

Could you list what we should have to optimize your valve. Hammer weight, different spring…..

Interesting, does that mean for the .25 sets, that is the max you can go for power ? I mean if you shoot a .25 with the larger set up (.257 and .308) it is not going to work well?

How bout giving me a few slugs to try in the Airforce barrel, will list results.

What LBT ones? I have some hunter supply 63 gr slugs also. They are 20-1 so they are a little harder.

Having a 4 cavity 70gr .25 mold made by LBT. Going with 4 .040″ drive bands and 3 .050″ lube grooves with a .180″ met plate. Will HP 2 holes if it works good. That should give me a 65 and 70 gr.

Me too… Still waiting here..

I am still confused here… When you guys mentioned .257 and .308 is that the caliber of the bullet or size of valve? ❓

Valve is a different size for .25, .257, and .308.

The valve body is the same on all 3. .25 is its own setup. .257 uses a .308 valve with a .375″ tophat instead of .430 for .308. Hole is also different size in the stem.

They are interchangeable if you had all the pieces.

Yes, please, still want a .25 and when you get there a .308

Ok I have all the pieces for the .25 valves.

I made a setup to make the seals. Working on the spring retainers right now. Next time I will have them complete them and make a separate one for .257/.308. I had threaded blanks made and have to drill and cut the spring step.

On .257 it turns into a post for center mount.

I won’t be working on them after Monday because I have to leave town to go to my daughters graduation. Also going to go visit roachcreek and do a little shooting on his range. It’s only about 5 hours drive from my daughters house.

Hoping to have 20 ready by the 15th for people that still want them. .257/.308 still a month out. Sorry guys.

Getting 950 fps with Jerry’s 7 rings and 920 fps with my LBT .257 sized down to .25070″. This bullet works real good in .257 and .25. I shot them in a TJ’s .25 barreled gun I have and they work great.

Doug, put me down for a valve!! :8:

I took a few shots to day. Got a high of 976 fps with 74.5 gr. Here is what it did.
976
973
974
970
968
Here are the bullets I’m shooting.

Had to make my own sizing dies for .25. Lee’s custom shop is closed down until they can catch up with the demand of there retailers. I also made 2 for my .257 because they size the bullets better then my Lee does.

I’m using 1144 for the die and you have to use a dremel and carbide bit to write the sizes on them. The ones with sharpie are not finalized on size. Still think I’m going to adjust the .25070″ to .25100″. The TJ barrels are .25020″ so I will have to see when I shoot them to see how they do.

.25 valves should be done here anytime. Still waiting on the the spring retainer and I sent back the stem retainer for a o ring grove.

Polished & ported 1 piece Tophat and a 95 gram hammer?

What about a frame extension that houses 2 Talon SS upgrade kits? That would give me 3 expansion chambers and 9 ‘K’ baffles to keep her super quiet.
I help one of the Federal biologists do pest control every spring and fall at the campgrounds.
The 22xx is awesome on ground squirrels but I need a Rockchuck, Raccoon, Badger & Coyote Smasher that is silent.

Doug, please PM me with contact info and pricing so I can get some parts lined up. I hope to have her in my hands mid June and I prefer to install, tune and shoot. I don’t care about before and after anymore as long as my end result meets my requirements.

Thank you!
🙂

No if I remember roachcreek was get 106 fpe with 17.5″ barrel and my parts in his condor valve. He was shooting 50 some gr bullets also.

I don’t have a 18″ barrel to know how much my valve will do. Yesterday with 75 gr LBT slugs I sized down from .257 I was getting 950 fps for 150 fpe. This is a slug sized down and shooting in a choked barrel.

Jerry’s slugs shoot around 970-980 fps but I’m having size problems right now and waiting for more slugs. I have seen a 1000 fps before.

Hey everybody – this is my first post on this forum. I’ve been an avid airgunner ever since I owned a Diana 54 twenty five years ago.
I’ve got a 35 ft lb 22xx I built in 2008 – I’m doing a Condor build off of the new SS as soon as its available.

I’m going to slug the barrel and cast my own 50 grain bullets. The driving bands will fit the chamber/grooves and the main bullet body will be .001″ smaller than the barrel choke for a .0005″ pass through.

Here’s my question: Will the Condor factory valve make enough power with an 18″ barrel to hit 100 ft lbs?
I want to drive my bullet at 950+ fps.

Doug, did you only make 1 Spin Lock valve?

I would like to hear from you guys in here that have already been playing in this area.

My main purpose is for 22 LR like power but I can cast my an bullets for less than $.015 each. No need to worry about ammo as long as I have lead.

I’m not trying to hijack this thread – I’m curious if I need to get me one of these valves from Doug!
🙂

Thanks in advance………….

Doesn’t Doug make a nice reg.? Complete with pre-chamber?

Thanks Guys. Sounds like a winner. 😉
