Q:

Cricket or Edgun POLL

Which do you prefer and why?

I don’t have neither but looking seriously into the Cricket. To me it has all the advantages over Edgun: price, shot count, superior regulator, magazine (that works) and looks. I’m going to wait a few months to see if they come up with a .25 compact. Otherwise I think I will get the .22 tactical standard. I just love the size of the .22 standard. Would prefer the .25 but it’s a little too long for me…

Heary, heary and agreed : For hunting that is. Those pesky Lithuanians won´t go down with just one bottle though … 😯

Blah, blah, blah…put the Eddie or bug in manual and you got single shot, aligned pellets, even with the mag.

Ville, auto advance is nice if you have a pile of squirrels or other game coming in groups or rapid succession. One shot-one kill works on paper**, but animals move at the last minute, a twig deflects the shot, etc. I like to drill a few .25s into a groundhog for faster kill, so it doesn’t die under a house 😡 I killed over 200 squirrels this summer; most were one shot. I don’t care how good you are, shoot enough in brushy habitat and you’ll have bad placement sooner or later. Three nutters in a tree-it’s auto time!

When the rodents stampede towards you 😯 ,

you’ll be glad of the auto. :4:

**One shot, one kill works on small game with vodka, unless the (e.g.) drunkard squirrel is Swedish-then, it’ll take three shots 😛
If it’s Lithuanian, pass it the whole bottle!

That´s because you´re an idiot! 😯
One shot-one kill is the norm – for most Shooters anyway. Besides that the best EdGun, in my old timer book, is the R3 with its steel breech. One can load as fast as with the mag equipped, new version. Why are 99% of long range benchrest powderburners SS ?? Think about that and get back when you find the answer.
Even better : When you do PM Uncle H 😯 😯 T.

… and now i read the rest of your well-written case. For hunting : Of course a multi-shot is better. For target shooting ? Not so. However – when/if i go hunting an airgun isn´t my first choice of weapon. Try to kill a 300 lbs Boar at 100 yards, in the run, with your Airgun – multishot or not.

I just don’t get it, I can’t think of one reason single shot is better. I guess there are some old timers out there that prefer 8 track over a CD…I certainly don’t need a second shot to hit my target either, but when I’m hunting it’s just a LOT easier to simply cock my weapon without having to fiddle with a pellet, especially hunting in cold weather & you might have gloves on. Maybe single shot is better for paper punchers

I´m with this old animal abuser regarding the single shot. The rest is just assumptions though. I will tell you this though: A Cricket is easier to work on than the EdGun. If people send theirs to Ernest it´s just because they´re either lazy or dumb as abox of rocks. A three year old can take apart a Cricket-without any parental advisory.
EdGun being more robust ?? Well – i don´t know about that. It sure is much more hand carved than the Cricket but that isn´t all positive, necessarily.
The worst part is when your Ed breaks down – there´s a waiting time for parts. It´s like doing time though since that time is everything between 3-8 months. Unacceptable.
Whatever you do, don´t drop the Soap.

Matadors have been available here for going on 5 years. The waiting time to get one turns a lot of people off. Crickets have been available for about a year or so and the Bobcats have been here 6-8 months.

The Crickets and Bobcats are mass produced and are by far more available.

AFAIK, Ed still hand assembles each one of his guns and the Matador’s internals are fewer and more robust than the Cricket’s.

You had to send your Cricket to Ernest for tuning? Almost everybody here tunes their Matadors themselves.

It will be interesting to see how things shake out in a couple of years.

In a couple of years, I believe that Tony will still have a waiting list for Edguns.

By the way; I am one of the dumb ass people that prefer a single shot gun!

I have bought a single shot tray for all of the magazine guns that I have owned in the past. I found all of my magazine guns were more accurate with a single shot tray at 100 yards.

I have 60 pellet foam pellet holders mounted just in front of my Matadors breeches. 60 pellets works for my 22 standard and my 25 long for a full day of hunting until an air tube refill is needed. The great thing about a Matador is, you don’t need a second, third or quick forth shot to hit something!

One shot, one kill works for me!

Please try to hit the enter key a few times during your posts! They would be so much easier to read with a few paragraphs instead of one long block post.

After a full month of research and reading every article, youtube video, talking to dealers, talking to actual owners of each gun, my decision on purchasing my first PCP rifle came down to the Matador or the cricket. I wanted both, just could not afford to purchase both of them and a tank etc. etc. However ultimately I made my decision after talking to a fellow by the name of Ernest Rowe, A lot of you may know him, he shoots and repairs both of these rifles, he said and I quote, “Get the cricket, better gun!”…. well eight days later I found myself waiting outside for the brown truck to pull up with my standard 22 cricket synthetic stock…. I played with it for about a month and I felt like the gun could not be perfected anymore than it already was however curiosity got the best of me and I sent it to Ernest to tune the rifle and make it quieter and now my gun is in PURE BEAST MODE, I love the looks of the Matador and I still may purchase one in the future but it seems to me there’s a few kinks they need to work out on the multi shot & single shot is just dumb, I don’t care who you are, it sucks compared to multishot, I vote for the cricket, however I do believe the Matador is a wonderful gun and for all of you that say the bobcat should be in this poll, maybe so, but that is one ugly ass gun, even with the new stock it looks like a polished turd, I know it’s a great shooter but I would put my cricket up against any bobcat out there, whether you own a cricket or not all of y’all know the business with the crickets, they are very, very accurate! No other gun made a bigger impact in the airgun community in 2013 then the cricket, rollover Matador there is a new sheriff in town.

Haters gonna hate but it is what it is

bump for zeeafus

Happy New Year bump!

That is one small advantage to having women in the house. The Victoria Secret catalogs. It’s all I have besides the guns and cats at this point although they yell if I pick one up from the mail. 🙄

The Middle One….knumbnutts, I need a picture of the Middle One!!!

If the Finnish Love Viper pulled off a Triple Crown…I need proof!

All this time I thought they were little girls…..Those are full grown, corn-fed, Finnish females!!!! Of that there can be no doubt!

Cripe! I almost sent them toys for Xmas…when I should have been checking out the Victoria Secret catalog for suitable attire for their dainty frames…

Hurry up! I’ll be dead soon…

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle H 😯 😯 t

No offense taken. Did you thought i was a guy who´d be easily offended AND then be stupid enough to put photo´s of my Kids on this wholesome Forum ??? I´d never have had the guts but that tough Daughter forced me …

Who’s the drag queen?

How come this thread turned to a talk about your Dad ?? 😐

My apologies…I looked at the picture and did not read the thread. 😳 Obviously that’s your ‘little one’ (19 yr old daughter?). I did not mean to offend anyone and offer sincere apologies. And hopefully, not to offend anybody further, she’s actually a cutie!

I´m not allowed to say exactly but with two extra mags, an extra reg (calibrated and marked from 110B-150B), few T-shirts an Hoodies ( to send to my friends), a couple of extra HST adjusters (Imppu) and the insured freight Finland- Sweden i paid around 1300€.
What the gun alone cost is classified info and if i´d tell you i´d need to kill you.

Needless to say the dealer this time was the real Finnish importer – not a POS posing as one.

Villel;;

how much does your Cricket costed you??

Then i wanted to try a Cricket .25 and ordered one from Finland (cheaper) but the MF dealer MWM Trading never delivered the gun although i´d already paid for it..
