Q:

Edgun Leshiy .25cal super tune

Ive spent a bit of time on my new Leshiy this week and have refined it to my liking..
While the 350mm barrels and shroud extensions are available for higher velocities I wanted to keep mine compact and light as it was designed to be.. this comes with the compromise of the shorter 250mm barrel which produces lower velocities or less shot count.

This is the typical performance you can expect from a .25cal Leshiy with 25.4gr kings:

250mm barrel: 12-13 shots at 760fps
350mm barrel kit: 12-13 shots at 810fps

Thats not bad but I devised a plan to get a little more from mine without the long extension and also make it quieter than the std Leshiy…

25.4gr JSB kings get 18 shots at 800fps 36ftlbs!

Want more speed? 6 shots at 925fps 48lbs

Want more shots? 25 shots at 700fps

Want 12ftlbs? 39 shots at 460fps 11.9fps

Want a better trigger with a predictable break? … Yea me too… give me some more time on that one…

The same tune in a .22 or .177cal will be just as impressive..
All this performance in this short little setup..

I will explain the mods in a tuning video soon…

Hello,

My name is Hans and I am new on this forum. I recognize many participants from their YouTube channel, but do not have one myself.

I am an avid airgun (well… all guns, actually) shooter and collector. My latest addition is the Edgun Leshiy in .25 (also have the Matador).

My techical knowledge of airguns is next to nothing. Only recenly have I begun to “look inside.” Inspired (a.o.) by this forum I replaced the OEM moderator of the Leshiy for the Huma alternative.

The result is, in my opinion, very positive! Set at 130 BAR and with the HST 16 clicks counterclockwise from “zero,” I managed to shoot 11 very consistent shots at 230 m/s (S/d 1, ES 3) from 215 bar. My scuba tank only had this much pressure left, but I dare to infer that I would have produced some 15 consustent shots, had I started at 250 BAR. Pellet JSB .25, 1.645 gram, average energy around 43 Joules. Barrel length 250 mm.

I did not change anything to the Leshiy other than exchanging the regulators (i.e. left all “spacers,” etc in place).

I am very content with this result. I strongly believe the OEM regulator can produce the same result, albeit with a lower shot-count (due to less available volume). But finding 130 BAR on the OEM regulator is difficult in the absence of proper equipment or a scale, which the Huma conveniently comes with.

Hoping this is of interest to this group,

Kind regards,

Hans

Fantastic thank you for you’re input.

The new valve spring spacer is designed to to get better air usage at 130 bar reg settings, I havent done any real testing with my .25 at 130bar as my barrel is longer (310mm not 250mm). The longer the barrel the lower the reg pressure for the same velocities.
You need to test yours as it really depends on what velocity you want from your leshiy.
Higher velocity = less shot count unless you go with a longer barrel.
A 130bar setting on my reg gets me a max of 940fps in .25cal. If I was wanting to run it hot Id back it off to 125bar and 900fps on the HST.

Try a 110bar reg setting with and witout the spring spacer to see which gives the best chrono strings
Start by backing the HST off and then slowly winding up the HST until it gets its max velocity and then back it off 2 clicks. Refill and test a full string watching for any spikes in speed as it drops off the reg.
Repeat that test with the spacer and 110bar.
Try 120bar with and without the spacer and then 130bar.

The shorter 250mm barrels will probably do best at 130bar with the spacer fitted.
Being that the new Huma reg has a slightly larger plenum volume but compresses the valve spring a little more you might find 120 bar without the spring spacer is best.

Sorry there is no simple answer to your question.
Decide on a velocity v/s shot count you are happy with and fine tune it from there.

Wingman maybe you could answer this for me. My .177 Leshiy came installed with a delrin spacer on the valve stem to put more preload on the valve spring. Considering the Huma reg is shorter adding more preload on the spring should I remove this spacer?

More field testing..

I installed it minutes after posting the Pic. But I have not shot it outside since. Been too busy. I did Chrony it at 10 mps lower than before. I asked Wingman if it was due to the spacer being shorter and compressing the spring. He said yes and it was designed that way for greater efficiency, and 2 clicks should get me back my 10 mps. But I haven’t done that yet. As soon as I get time I will test 2 clicks and see where I am on the numbers.

OK, so you’ve already installed Huma reg? Were you able to achieve the same velocity? Is the consistency better now?

It is also shorter wich gives more tension to the valve spring. So you need to increase HST to get the velocity you had before with both regs set the same

If I remember right Huma reg has a bigger plenum – shooting chamber.

Are you talking about the pre-chamber where the regulated air sits? I was talking about the non regulated side.

maybe huma regulator increase velocity too?

No, only if you increase the reg pressure, wich you can do with OEM reg. If you are referring to Wingmans results, he has a longer barrel. 320mm instead of 250mm wich gives him more fps

if huma reg is lightly bigger air volume so velocity should rise too.

Huma makes as smaller version that takes up les space and therefore increases CC and shot count. It is an option for those who feel the cost is worth the extre few shots. Not by any means a necessity, but the option is there

I’m a bit confused….

Does Edgun now install Huma regulators as standard or is Huma making replacment regulators for Edguns?
