Q:

EDgun Matador is the #1 PCP in the world…

EDIT: This was not a gun problem after all… It was a problem with my adjustable magnification scopes… All 3 scope (Leapers 8-32X56, Nikko Stirling Diamond 10-50X60, and Leapers 4-12X40) were losing their zero and shifting the Point Of Impact every time I moved the magnification adjustment wheel from the lowest setting to the highest setting and back again to the lowest setting…

Eduard, here are some 65yd groups I shot this morning…. It seems that
sometimes it is a laser shooting 3-5 shots on top of each other and then shots
start to fly everywhere… I cleaned the barrel very carefully and shot some 100
shots before shooting these groups… The wind was absolutely zero… My
Combro is on the blink so I could not get any FPS information…. This gun has
well over 10,000 rounds through it. It does not make a difference what
the psi is in the gun and I removed the shroud/mod to make sure it was not
causing any problems. (See group on bottom left that says “No mod”)
I also pulled out my Rapid to make sure that it was not the conditions.. The
Rapid shot a 10 shot sub 1″ group at 80yds. The EDgun shot 2 sub 3″
groups so I know it was not the wind nor the shooter causing the wild
flyers…. I ordered a new Chrony this morning so I should have FPS info
next week….

Looking at your groups I wonder if your gun has just changed what pellet it likes.

It does not look like it is so much a velocity change because of the groups are opened up so much. I wonder if you just raped your barrel so much that it needs a new pellet to digest 😀

Sounds like it’s all shot-out mam. I had a feeling these EdGuns had a short life. I’ll give ya $700 for it.

My nuts and my jock are in a box, ready to be shipped to the North Pole…
That should solve all of the issues that have plagued my life for O’ these so
many years…

Haha, all this joking and I almost forgot. I was told using these in front of the gun can tell you a lot about what it is doing.

What the heck is that and what does it do?

Hey Mam, Maybe your standard version .22 cal found out you are getting a long version .25 cal, is feeling scorned and is throwing a hissy fit.

A chronograph might help or, if you tried shooting at say 20 yards, the groups should tighten up some!

Well Ed did say that he puts soul in these guns so an upset EDgun is not
beyond reason…lol

I went out to the 45yd marker and shot at the 65yd target and you are
right… It does tighten up the groups…. Problem solved? 😯

All joking aside, I really do appreciate the info you posted. I don’t think some
understand how much time and effort it takes to get that kind of testing
done…

Mam, try swapping the scope to see if it make any differences. I know those are good glasses you have on yours.

That is definitely something that I am considering…..

Ted, I studied your info carefully (great stuff by the way) on your “pellet
sorting” post but I will have to wait until I get a chrony to get things sorted
out…. I have had to do this once before but, without a chrony I am just
wasting time… I think I need a chrony to get it all right…. I truely believe
that a chrony would be helpful in this situation…. Your info will be a great
source of info to compare to once I get a chrony….

It goes without saying that all airguns are their own animal. But, the data from my gun may translate to yours, so I’ll tell you my chrony info.

Max spring tension = completely erratic speeds from 920-970fps with 18g JSB’s.

Max spring – .5 turns = 950 fps if filled to 200 bar. 930fps is filled to 190 or less.

Max spring – 1.0 turns = 925 fps if filled to 200 bar. 910fps if filled to 190 or less.

Max spring – 1.5 turns = 905 fps (from 200 bar to 130 bar) regardelss of starting fill pressure.

In short, my Edgun (but not the pellets) is “unstable” if the hammer is smacking the valve with too much force.

I did some shooting today at 905 fps. I will post my results soon in the “Edgun Pellet Sorting” thread.

Hope this was helpful.

Ted
