I just did the same with my 2 SWFA 12×42. Nothing Scientific, but they were not the same for me.
I did 10m and a 10cm Target. It was 10 mildots 6,45cm in from where the endcap is. I Measured from the outside “tip” of the scope where the endcap is to where the 10m line is, I started by laying the scope down so the tip of the endcap was flush with the 10m line, then moved the scope forward 64,5mm and that is when 10mildots were 10cm at 10m for me. Using that same 6,45cm measurement on the next scope it was not true at 10m but at 9,7m. That’s a 30cm difference.
Don’t know if that makes sense to you but dissapointing that they were not true at the same range….
To clarify a bit, the edge of the drawer is 10m, the scope was moved forward 6,45cm to match the mildots.
What I mean by sayin ‘serious company’ is that I see a lot of successful FT/HFT shooters with Hawke scopes. I don’t consider them ‘firearm worthy’ and I don’t even think of them as combat/hunting scopes. But in airgun world you get decent glass and awesome AMX reticle and distance focus.
Maybe I should have said ‘serious company in airgun world’ indeed, correct.
Friday evening when I got back home there was a package waiting for me. No, NOT EdGun scope. I got my Hawke Airmax 2-7×32 for Leshiy. Will do first tests tomorrow but I put it on L and adjusted roughly at my 14 meter indoor range.
BUT also (after a conversation here about calibration) I decided to heck if the reality matches theoretical specs. First of all Hawke says on web that AMX reticle (awesome one BTW) has been calibrated at 10x for this scope. Which means it’s not true mil-dot scope. I thought that maybe Hawke did a mistake on the web and checked if it’s really 10X or maybe (hopefully) 7X calibrated mil-dot. To my surprise it’s neither 7x nor 10x calibrated. After some measurements and math now I know that it is calibrated @ 8.5x magnification! Surprise!?!? Sure! Hawke is a serious company so I expected something closer to theory. But it’s 8.5x, so not even available on my scope.
Do I care? NOT! I use Strelok Pro & Vortex Ranger 1000 anyway for my ranging & corrections so in the scope parameters I inserted 8.5 in the field ‘ranging calibrated for: … X” and I don’t care anymore ๐
Conclusion: always check your mil-dot calibration!!!
Hawke a “serious company” ??? Serious how ? Serious while selling overprised Chinese crap to the masses ?? Nothing else is serious over at Hawke – that’s for sure. Ok , maybe their attempt to try to dodge warranty claims but that’s it ๐ ๐

I measured distance (14 meters) from scope to target and measured which target size is occupied by 10 mils. On a true MilDot it should be 14cm but it was 17cm. Scope set on max (7x). I’d appreciat if you could calculate at which magnification the MilDot is calibrated. At about 1AM my math could have been compromised… :rofl:
How did you check it? Did you just put down a ruler and aimed at it, then used math to find out about 8,5x?
What would you suggest instead? I’m looking for thin etched airgun-friendly reticle, adjustable paralax, small size, up to 32mm objective, 6x magnification is the lowest acceptable, decent glass.
I know March 1-10×26 but it’s out of my budget… I can spend up to 1k usd, max.
Vortex PST 2.5-10×32 is another candidate, but I’m waiting for pics from Keyser Soze first.
Ed’s 12×44 is just too big for Leshiy :/
Anyway – mildot should be checked.

Soze , sounds logical , test on , will wait for your follow up report . Have to wait anyways for the .25 Mutant Shorties to make it
to the market as well .

Birdman. I am currently using the EDgun MPR2 on my gun. I want to have reasonable field time where I spin the turrets and kill critters with the glass on my scope. I am about six weeks into my testing. Scopes are different to sell. Honestly, they are the closest thing to selling woman’s clothes. We air gunners are super picky. I don’t want to put out a BS review without actually testing the scope. I just need some more time with her.
Soze , when are you going to give us the breakdown info on the ED Scopes ? You sold your last shipment fast and really did not
give us all the info that you promised to give us on them ? I for one would like to know all the the details that each of EDS’
Scopes that you are selling to see if any would work for me .

Ok, did the measurements again (measurements & math at 1AM sucks). I measured exact distance of 24m (with tape, not rangefinder) and checked target size ocupied by 10 mils at that distance: 34.7cm
If the mildot would be calibrated @ 7x the target size would be 24cm
Let’s calculate: (34.7 / 24) x 7 = 10.12
Which mens the mildot is calibrated for 10.12x magnification vs declared 10x. Which is 1.2% mistake… pretty damn accurate?
