Quick update on my leaky probe.
I tried the 90Durmeter #6 orings, and they are too big, I can’t get the probe into the breach w/o shearing part of the oring. So for me, it looks like the best solution is a soft 3/16 x 1/16 inch (#8) on the front and a 5.1 x 1.6mm on the back.
And I now have the hammer spring adjusted so that I am getting 885fps +/- I didn’t have time to do a full shot string to see what the curve looks like, that’s next.
Id like to know the minimum bar to produce 900 fps in my .25 long gun

I asked him to add me to the list !! It will only make sense if he has enough people commit to taking one so if you desire one of his reg. setters send him a note saying so.
I can build them in my shop and have (2) 12′ x 2″ stainless propeller shafts laying on my material rack that got cycled out of my boat a couple years ago and they are screaming to be turned into something useful again, but I’d rather buy from Ernst since he is the one doing them, I’m not desperate by any means so I’ll wait a while and see if he gets enough orders first.
I would love to see Ernest’s reg pressure checker used on all these guns that are shooting great strings (F&D đŸ˜€ ) to see exact pressure its set at. At least give the community a range of reg settings that work best. I also wish the HST was indexed in some way yo get exact number of turns for a particular gun (not sure if that would even help others)
I asked Ernest if he was building anymore, and he didn’t know if there was enough demand.

I really cant explain how the Reg work, but Ed said earlier in one of his thread that the Pressure set on the standard .30 Matador is 160 BAR. The first 2 times I checked the Reg setting, it was 160 BAR exactly. I turned the adjustment allen screw a little more than 1/4 of a turn counter-clockwise, It read 170 BAR.
I can only assume that the air at the regulator shaft and around the washers is high pressure, Air behind the cut off valve ( behind the large O ring) is regulated. If someone with the same tester and .30 Matador can confirm this, I’d appreciated. In the mean time, I will have to take it apart again to see how this system work.

your post made me think too. The only explanation I came up is that the regulated air is behind the larger O ring. The air between the small and large O rings is unregulated air.
My reg needs to be tuned down, I will take it aprt tonight and take more pictures and examine to see how this tester/regulator works. I am no engineer and not very bright, but I will try my best to answer some of your questions,

JohnP, before leaving for work, I saw your post about Ernest’s reg adjusting tool working for all of the Matadors, the 30 cal included.
Your post really bothered me all night! The other Matadors have 2, 25 mm X 3mm O rings on the reg housing. The 30 cal reg has a stepped down housing that uses an 18.5 X 3 mm O ring on the adjusting end and a 25 X 3 mm O ring on the regulated pressure plenum end. I could not figure out how the reg pressure setting tool would work on the 30 cal!
When I got back home; I finally found Ernest’s link to his video of his reg pressure setting tool. I watched his video a couple of times.
I have never claimed to be very bright but; after watching Ernest’s vid a couple of times, I can’t see how you can get an accurate reading while trying to set a 30 cal reg using that tool.
I could be totally lost here BUT; the air pressure will leak past the first, smaller O ring, and impact on the second O ring. The regulator shaft and washers are no longer isolated between the 2, 25 mm O rings that are on the 22 and 25 cal regulators.
I have sat here for over an hour trying to figure out what I am missing here: without any luck.
Would somebody jump in and tell me what I am missing?
Yes, it works on my R3m .25 reg. was shooting 945fps with kings out of the box. lowered it to 890fps with 115b reg pressure.
And yes works with Cricket reg also!

So far, I found it worked on all R3, including the .30 matador.
I do not have the R3M, so I can not confirm on the R3M, but I am willing to make a small bet that it will work on your R3M as we’ll.

I wish I had one of those testers. I could measure exact point where my EDguns are set and post them here. All of mine are shooting extremely well.
So does this mean, just to be clear, that the same tester works for all edguns ??

The regulator housing is milled down at the front section, but when performing regulator testing and adjustments with Ernest made tester, you only test then reg. only. That’s the end piece where the reg. is in. It only has one O ring. Think it was 3mm x25 mm. A perfect fit.

I have ordered some #8 viton orings if you would have early fails on the softer ones it might be an option, and i can send you a couple to try. I guess i’m lucky with no probe issues.
