fixing shroud
I need to shift or move my shroud to the right about the 1/4 inch. I’m wondering if could just warm or heat up back of shroud and try to move it that way.
I’m not sure how these are built so I could have it all wrong to begin with. Could I get the back end hot enough to get the front to move over a bit to get it to stop clipping.

Tried cleaning it with Ballistol. Didn’t make a difference. That hole just seems a hair too small. Anyone have any recommendations on how to open it up tad? I hate having to fight with that thing when giving the rifle a thorough cleaning or cleaning the barrel.
I have a Cricket .25 skeleton stock serial #879, one of the older ones.
From all the Cricket videos I’ve watched, the shroud slides right on and off. My shroud is tight trying to slide on/off from beginning to end. I have to pull/push it on/off with a twisting motion. Here’s some pics to illustrate. I can literally stick the shroud on the last inch of the barrel and it will hold itself level in place. Anyone else’s shroud tight and does my barrel receiving end cap look the same as yours?
Mine is pretty tight coming on and going off too, but one thing that I do to help it slide on easier is to get your favorite cleaning agent (Hoppes, Goo-gone etc.) apply it onto a rag and then I just put the wet rag over the tip of my finger and really try to clean out the inside of the “barrel receiving end cap” as you call it. Mine was caked in a good amount of lead residue that made it very tight sliding on and off, but once I cleaned it and the outside of the barrel off it slid on much easier. Hope it helps…
Mine don’t come off but it looks very tight

Guys I took 25 apart couple days ago and turned regulator down to bring it down to 890 fps. I did find when I took it apart that the two bolts that hold the breach where not very tight, but I’d say not loose. Anyways after a good going over I put it back together and hoped for the best. I did do a quick test during the end of day which was a bit too dark but enough to know if groups where better.

Yummy? Seriously, Things must be really tough in the north country. Sounds like Donner Pass wouldn’t be an issue either 😯 I’m having a good o’l rib eye tonight!

My grandpas old red barn must have had 100,000 bullets, BB’s, and pellets in it.
The only trouble I found with my Hawkes was QC on assembly as I purchased some of them. I went through nearly a dozen of them before I found the ones that are clear and focus properly but all were assembly issues. The ones i have now are very good for a mid level scope but they were basically hand selected from the distribution center in Indiana. At the range I had three folks go ahead and return scopes they thought were supposed to be a bit fuzzy because they were Hawkes. The lens and coating machines Hawke has been using the last two years or so rival many good scope manufactures that are available today. Like MTC/Optisan and Falcon they are British owned and run but in China. The other high mag scopes I own from Nightforce and Leupold are relatively heavy too (above 25 oz.). 😉
Ya found a dead cow in there after I was done with shooting the groups. Had to bury it by hand on frozen ground. Took a bunch of nice cuts first of course.
If it proves that the swfa is defective then yes. Btw they are not bad scopes, just a bit too heavy.
So a Hawke SW handily tops a SWFA?
are you shooting into the farmers barn again???
Nice grouping eelect, looks good to go man !

Great shooting double E! I especially like your precision (out to 3 decimal places) group analysis system!! :biggrinn: :suprisedn:

Why take shroud off to clean it. Its a bit nicer with it off but I have polished the crap out of my 25 barrel with shroud on and did it successfully. Just insert a straw to guide cleaning rope through baffles. Clean gun often then you will never need more than 3 patches to get it clean. I can remove my 22 shroud but never do to clean barrel.
