HB indexing issue/CLOSED
I think some word from Kalibrgun concerning the indexing issue of the Colibri/Hummingbird would be welcome by HB customers. I don’t want to think our dealers have to go it alone (left holding the bag?) on this issue. So, where is Kalibrgun on this matter? It makes the product. Some word about the company’s position can’t be too much to expect. Can it? I’m sure I’ve just missed where Kalibrgun chimed in.

That’s all fine by me – if that was said before i bought those guns. That wasn’t the case though. Would he’d said that – or would it say so on his Webpage – that would be a different thing. I don’t give a shit about what attitude he has in this Forum , or in real life nor do i care about how he runs his business as long as i get functioning rifles for the money i pay. That didn’t happen – times two.
Anyway – that’s water under bridge now and i’ve learned my lesson to never to buy anything from Ed ever again. What others do is their business.
I’m done with the subject as long as i’m not lured into further discussions ..

My dear insolent, and dare I say “ignorant”, friends….
Now…I’m not saying anyone on this forum wants to kiss Ed on the lips, but the majority of recent negative posts regarding his pcp’s are generally quibbling about details that one would not expect to find on a gun of that price. That being said…remember, this is a one man shop. It is truly “Ed’s” gun! That’s why he named it after himself. He builds it according to his specs, no one else’s, and has stated on more than one occasion if you can’t afford to buy his gun, then get a better job…and, if you don’t like the way he makes his gun, then don’t buy his gun. Part of the Edgun experience is almost akin to him leasing his most current technology to you, not you purchasing a finely tuned, mass produced, finished product.
Those are his conditions. He is not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy! He has essentially invited anyone who doesn’t like his conditions to kiss his ass. While I don’t find his ass that appealing, I, personally, wouldn’t mind owning another Edgun.
I know that I will never get to own a Leyla…the major and minor gods of fate have seen to that. However, like the bear in the ladies blouse above, we can always dream…can’t we?

Lucky old coot !
Do i see two (2) Uncle Hoot’s heads trying to hide under her blouse ?
What?!!! :suprisedn: Doubt Hoot: ?! :angrymob: Surely you jest, Sir! Fred got fed up with the inconsistencies of the supplied barrels when LW lost it’s barrel-making Mojo. That’s the story on the interwebs. I’m not saying an ST barrel beats an LW barrel (though it did seem to dominate the Arizona Extreme Benchrest competitions). Since I don’t own an ST I’m glad you think so anyway.
Darryl
I don’t think so – i know so. The reason was money. And please do separate those US made LW barrels from the real deal made in Germany.
And in Europe , while our BR competitions aren’t named “Extreme” they’re shot at 100 meters. Most guys use Rifles with LW barrels here – not the ST. How come ? ST is a very wisely marketed trade mark though..

Oh really ? I had two (2) of these wondersticks that grouped worse than a shotgun. Clipping shrouds and whatnot. So i damn well had two (2) of his guns that let me down. Two out of two is pretty bad , don’t you agree ?
There is a good technical write-up of how Ed developed his barrels with LW in the archives here somewhere. They did a lot of work over time to get them right.
Besides that these Viper guys on here are the best barrel polishers I have ever seen.
thank you!
Darryl
What made Fred go to ST was simple economics. He has far better earnings that way. An ST doesn’t beat a LW barrel anyway. Whether Ed gets “special rifled barrels for 18gr JSB’s”, well – call or e-mail LW in Germany and ask if that really is true. π
Hoot: you know I have absolute confidence in your judgement (usually…and…well…after you’ve medicated π ). No grain of salt needed when you speak. It’s good to know that Ed specs his LW barrels; seems the bulk-buying of LW barrels is what made Fred turn to making his own (smooth-twist) barrels. Now to just wait for the other adventure to end so i can get on with a new one.
thank you!
Darryl
Darryl…stay your fears. Ed, himself, has gone to Lothor Walther and had the barrels he uses custom twist rate designed for the 18.1 JSB pellet it’s designed to excel with. How can you beat that level of attention to detail? He didn’t just purchase bulk barrels, his barrels are “Edgun Barrels”, designed to shoot at a specific speed with a specific pellet, with a specific rifling.
I doubt CZ, as excellent a barrel as they are, will outperform what Ed puts on his guns. If nothing else, the Edgun will always out shoot the shooter! I don’t know anyone who has claimed they have squeezed all the potential out of that Russian bullpup. Short of using a mechanical gun vise, and electronic trigger, I don’t believe it can be done…well, perhaps by a world class marksman, but those are far and few between in air gun competition.
When I owned my three Edguns, I would set it on a cushion, take aim, and a hole suddenly appeared where my crosshairs had been. It got to be almost boring.
If you get an Edgun, and you aren’t satisfied with the accuracy, then you had better start practicing your marksmanship because it damn well isn’t the gun letting you down.

With my luck it won’t be 72 virgins waiting for me, but a 72 year-old virgin! πΏ
Darryl. I’ll probably go for a 2nd-Gen Matador standard. No side-cocking, but it cocks and indexes just fine from what I can gather. Not sure about the barrel being as good as a CZ barrel (sub-MOA at 50 yards?)

We need to try to get more info on the “Blackbird” from Kalibrgun. One of the Yellow people said a Vulcan was on it’s way to him…Let’s go to the index and start a new thread. This one is beginning to suck.
