Just ordered my first Edgun…say hi to the newb.

This is my first post, but I have been reading and enjoying your posts for the last week or so. I just ordered my first Edgun from Tony! I have a .25 R3M Long coming with the next shipment (Nov. that’s all he said). Tony is not the most talkative of fellows, is he? It took me 2 weeks to finally decide what I wanted. I have to say this site has helped me with my decision tremendously. Thank you all for sharing your knowledge with me. I haven’t seen a more loyal and proud family of members towards any other gun, as much as the Edgun….that is what swayed me over.
Well, now that the gun is ordered its time for a scope. Well here goes…. I want a scope with a 5-6 times zoom range that’s great in low light, not too heavy, not too long, parallax adjustments from 10 yards to infinity, great eye relief, great tracking, durable, good warranty, and under $1000 bucks. lol
Well…I really do…but its not gonna happen. I have however narrowed my selection down to 7. A couple are over my budget (as there always will be) and the rest are in range. Can this great forum help me in: #1 selecting the one best for me #2 Put the 7 selections in an order from best choice to worst choice (if there is a worst…they’re all quite good im sure).
Info about me: live in Houston Texas. Lots of places to go and shoot…including back yard, thick wooded areas near subdivisions, short drive to the north, south, east, and west with acres upon acres of undeveloped land. Some of it is open, some is wooded (nice to have friends with acres and acres of land). Lots of plinking, hunting birds, squirrels, rabbits, coons, bobcats, and coyotes, as well as target shooting (outdoors and not at a range). No point in shooting anything under 15 yards…very interested in acquiring the skills to shoot beyond 125 yards. Mostly 25-100 yards. Oh, and I do lots and lots of night shooting. So a good low light scope is B I G ! !
I look forward to all comments from anyone that has something to say…but im also looking for replies from Zocoloco, Knifemaker, Ted, and Oldgoat. Ted….you’re my hero! Mr. EdgunUSA himself…What?!? jk 😆

Not an expert on scopes but, I do have a good quality Leupold VX-3L 6.5-20x56mm that has never been used with life time warranty. I paid 1300 for from Optic planet selling it for 1000. Need to make “$$” for the equipment I just forked over to Joe B. for tanks, compressor and accessories .
I’m emailing the gun world….overseas. I looked on the web….don’t think there’s a US supplier.
A current benchrest shooter at my range just told me Deltas are made in the same factory as Trijicons in Japan. No wonder they look so fabulous. Anyone have a lead on a US supplier? Someone corrected me that the lenses are from Japan but the Trijicons are assembled in Michigan. US Defense contractor.
Sir Ville….you’re getting me excited about this scope. For clarification focus is crystal clear at 10 meters? Also what is the minimum parallax focus? One last thing….can you give me an example of what this reticle looks like? Can’t find it online.

Dropped the bushnells – too many negative opinions and poor mil-dot
Dropped the Leupold – didn’t like the turrets
Dropped the Swarovski – too expensive
What’s left:
Zeiss Conquest 5-25x 50 (really like this scope)
Vortex PST or HS 6-24x 50 (waiting to hear from Ted to see what he knows)
Added the Hawke 6.5-20x 42 (not a big fan of 20x top end or 42mm objective)
Added the Hawke 6-24x 56 (not sure why everyone doesn’t take this option except for maybe 56mm obj)
Added the Delta Titanium 4.5-30x 50 (still looking for more info)
Added the Sightron SIII 6-24x 50 custom (not sure which reticle or how much they will charge for extra cheese)
Getting no where fast guys. Dropped 4 and picked up 4. Price ranges from $500-$1200+…..almost doesn’t make sense, but I’ll give every scope a fair shake. What should I rule out and why….need to get list down to 4 max.
The focus is chrystal clear. It has very sharp image even at 30x and what surprised the most was the very good and clear image in low-light conditions. I could hardly see the target at 50m/55 yrds in the dusk but i saw the numbers and such thru the scope like it was still light outside. Switched the 11 step illumination on at #2 and shot small groups when everyone else had already packed their things and went home. Poor bastards … 
The good thing with the illumination is (i don´t like illuminated scopes though) that only the very,very small central dot lights up/glows-untill you get to level 7 when even the rest of the reticle glows. Good stuff!
Oh yeah – the reviews don´t do the 4.5-30 justice. It´s that good.
Thank you Ser Ville for the suggestions. I have read all I could about the deltas. Wow….if they are good as the reviews and specs it makes my list. I have emailed the vendor with some questions and I am awaiting their response. How is the focus at 10 yard? 15 yards? 20 yards? How about at 30x?
Old goat I have question for you. Isn’t the point of chairgun to give you the adjustments points you need for a given shot? Is just a choice between holding over vs using elevation turret? I’m downloading chairgun in a bit so I guess I’ll figure it out??
Dr Steele; I tried a Hawke 8-32 X 56 scope with the SR Pro reticle. The reticle was OK but, at 32X the field of view was very limited and unless I wanted to set my zero at 100 yards, I like a 50 yard zero, I would quickly run out of hold over points at anything over 115 yards.
32X might be great for a high power powder burner; we are talking a pellet at 850-1000fps with a very loopy trajectory.
I don’t do elevation clicks to adjust the scope for shots over 115 yards. I guess that I need to try doing that but, I am afraid that this oldgoat would quickly forget where my zero setting was.
I ended up using the Hawke 4026 6.5-20 X 42 scope. Using Chairgun, 20X it is good out to 139 yards at 20X mag. If I have a laser ranged shot at more than 140 yards, I turn the mag down to 18X or 15X as needed. I have Chairgun range cards for 20X, 18X and 15X taped to the side of my Matadors. I love the Hawke scope and the Chairgun software that was designed for it!
Chairgun is free from Hawke. Not that big of a deal to set it up. You need a chrony to input some numbers into it. Chairgun wants muzzle fps and 50 yard fps. If you trust your shooting, 100 yard fps will fine tune Chairgun. The muzzle and 50-100 yard fps speeds will allow Chairgun to compute the BC (ballistic coefficient) of your gun/pellet combination.
You then just punch the BC in along with, muzzle fps, the pellet cal, weight, scope height (mine is 2.60 using high mount cheap Leaper scope mounts) your zero range, the reticle used and the scope magnification.
Give Chairgun the proper info and it will generate you range cards that are dead nuts on.
It has always worked for me out to 288 yards with my 30 cal Boss and out to 190 yards with my 25 cal long Matador. The 288 yard shots were at 6.5 mag. Can’t remember what the 25 cal 190 yard mag shots were set at. I have never tried over 190 yards with the Matador; I might have to try that next year.

I believe Oldgoat is correct, if you go with Hawks half mildots you will never ever regret, as for high magnification Hawke provides 8-32X56, you can chose this one, yesterday i got less than 1cm 67 mtr awy from my Edgun with my Hawke 8.5-25X42.
these Hawke scope are the best value for the the quality.
I’ve got Hawkes and they focus fine down to 10 yds on out and low light is not an issue.
The 22 wears the Sidewinder Tac 30 6.5-20×42.
The 25 wears the sidewinder 30 8-32×56.
Both are excellent compliments to each caliber.
I hunt and carry all day and neither scope is cumbersome on each Ed.
Both mounted on Hawke 2″ forward high mounts.
Best thing is I got both for under $400 to my door. Hard to beat price per $$.
