Q:

Leshiy Legalities

quote Parrots:

Pining for the leshiy even more after all these pictures and line won’t ship till next week 🙁

Gotta say, i do like the one’s from the Russian forum without the specific cal written on the gun, unlike the recent picture. Why put a single calibre on a multi barrel gun, any idea’s?

It’s probably required by some socialist country in Europe.
Pippo are these the same countries that make women apologize for being raped? Makes total sense :angrymob:

Congrats for the collection and sorry if I pushed you to make that phone call to stay safe.

Yes very grey area :8:

Yes, when the UK’s largest shooting organisation has asked the CPS to clearly clarify.

The Lelya is a grey area (in law), as the length restrictions on rifles were referenced to live fire rifles with no mention of air rifles. Still would not chance it.

This is all something i had already looked in to last year also, so was already aware of the legalities on the Leshiy.

I see you are one of those that need to learn the hard way, maybe a mandatory 5 years training course would be helpful to you, if you are a really difficult case then they can extend the training also to 10 years.

Guide on Firearms Licensing Law – April 2016

Air and gas operated weapons

2.46 The Rules provide that any air weapon is ‘specially dangerous’ if it is capable of discharging a missile so that the missile has, on being discharged from the muzzle of the weapon, kinetic energy in excess, in the case of an air pistol, of 6 foot lbs or, in the case of an air weapon other than an air pistol, 12 foot lbs. An air rifle with a muzzle energy in excess of 12 foot lbs must be held on a firearm certificate. Any air pistol which either has a barrel less than 30cm in length or is less than 60cm in length overall, with a muzzle energy in excess of 6 foot lbs is a prohibited firearm.

But you can still continue to deny the evidence.

Honestly I really don’t care but please don’t mislead people risking them to be sentenced to 5 years of imprisonement for misinformed people.

(Obviously when saying misinformed I was speaking about me)

Do you its the point where i say it’s not something i would risk.

You started all this about the Leshiy, you were found to be wrong and you move on to something else.

I see you are obviously one of those who always wants to have the last word, and cannot stand being wrong about something and has to find something else.

Do tell me where i mis lead anyone, i clearly state it’s a grey area and not worth chancing.

I am giving you information i got on a phone call to BASC last year on Lelya, if you have a look at my posts from very early this year you will find i have a Lelya, and mine was extended for this very reason as according to BASC they have asked the CPS to make very clear what would be regarded a pistol, for most people a pistol would be something that was made and designed to be fired with one hand, The Lelya is not sold as a pistol or looks like one, it was made to be a rifle. As i said, it’s a grey area, something not worth chancing, why i extended my own one with a fixed extension.

Here in the U.K we have been discussing the Lelya since it’s released and it’s always been agreed to be a grey area not worth chancing.

Botton left you can see the the extended Lelya, so i am obviously someone who takes chances, above that the TDR which according to your earlier comments must also be illegal.

So…

Good news for the Leshiy owners…

Bad news for the Lelya owners…. (mandatory minimum 5 years of imprisonement if set to higher than 6 ft/lbs)

I believe it was worth a call.

Good thing they can only consider the length of a rifle in it’s full operational form them :8:

I say it one more time, I don’t have any personal interest in this law discussion and won’t get warm on this, specially if I have to fight to give a sound advise.

But it is already a good thing that you recognise that your Lelya “in its full operational form” set to higher than 6 ft/lbs is a PROHIBITED FIREARM in the UK and as you said every “trained and informed policeman” will tell you that.

This was my last word on this subject and I apologize once again for having hijacked the thread.

You were discussing a Leshiy, not Lelya. And the Leshiy in it’s operational form would be perfectly legal in the UK, as per my phone call also with BASC airgun team today. A shorter length cannot be taken in to consideration, if at that length the rifle is impossible to fire.

The rifle needs to be fully assembled and able to fire as it is, and only then would it be measured at it’s entire length.

I” not in UK but I believe… this fine discussion deserves own thread, so maybe should be moderated into a new one by a mod? Actually it’d be a shame to keep it here in “picture” thread, where no one is going to look for it in the future :ugeekn:

I agree, it has valid content.

No apology needed, I have Split the posts an created a new topic so the the floor is open 🙂

According to your reading and according to the law are two very different things, there are a lot of mis informed people on the internet. It’s not a matter if chances, it either is or it’s not.

Let those who live in the UK worry about it and lets move on to what the three was created for. I for one would love to see more pictures while i wait for mine.

Last thing before we move on and let those who live in the UK worry about it…

There is only one chance, that is if they count the length of the gun with the extended stock because if they count it with the folded stock then it definitively becomes a prohibited firearm if set to higher than 6 ft/lbs with someting like a minimum of five years of prison.

Good luck!

It doesn’t matter about which Edgun I speak it always ends up like me being a hater.

Now I really don’t care about airgun laws in UK but according to my reading the Leshiy has very high chances to be illegal in the UK (PROHIBITED FIREARM) if set to higher than 6 ft/lbs.

Parental opinion

I don’t think anyone has called or implied you are a hater 🙂

There is nothing illegal about the leshiy in 12PFE form in the UK, if someone is still worried about it, get the 350mm barrel and you’re sorted.
