Leshiy Legalities
Gotta say, i do like the one’s from the Russian forum without the specific cal written on the gun, unlike the recent picture. Why put a single calibre on a multi barrel gun, any idea’s?
It’s probably required by some socialist country in Europe.

thanks for the information and I apologize with everybody for hijacking the thread.
It’s not my intention to declare the Leshiy illegal in UK, what I say is that according to what I’ve read you are very close to the legal UK limits concerning airguns so maybe it could be advisable to check carefully.
Grey zones are dangerous zones because if you encounter a cop having troubles with shades of grey then it could become unpleasant (but this is just my opinion).

But according to your earlier comments they would both still be illegal due to their break down lengths.
12FPE Verminator is available legally through many FX dealers in the UK, the 12″ barrel length is a grey area and mistaken by many, this law exists on live fire with no reference made to air rifle, look it up.
Not something i missed, been through this a dozen times last year in regards to the Lelya.
If someone is still worried about this, the Leshiy is also available with a 350mm/13.7″ 😛

Its only firearms that comes under the law affecting minimal overall length/barrel length,,,if it exceeds 12 ftlbs then it would classed as a firearm and then the laws above apply,if its under 12 ft lbs no minimum length/barrel length,anyone one remember the original falcon fn 8 ??

there is so much disinformation about what is and is not legal in the Uk due to misinformed individuals and certain trade members trying to desperately protect their franchises, semi autos LR is illegal and this has been applied to the sub 12ft air rifles myth, i can shoot legally a .22 AR15 semi auto with out license at my club with a 12in barrel and if granted FAC can own it, i can also shoot a lr long barrel pistol legally at my club which is substantially more than 6ft pound another myth i was preached too, exceed 6ft pound and it becomes a section 5 !!!, owning either and shooting outside a club environment you will have to have justifed reasons to be added to your ticket, personally for me neither warrants the hassle to own outside the club environment and i stick to sub 12ft rifles for my shooting needs for pest control in the uk

Tell the authorities but then each country is different.
When you state the length of a weapon NORMALLY you have to state the length when it is in the shortest configuration and normally they don’t ask if it can be shot in that configuration. (I believe it is not about shooting but about hiding/concealing)
Then personally I really don’t care but before buying I would ring somebody.
(The Lelya in UK should be considered as a pistol IMHO)

If this was the case there would be many rifles in the UK currently being sold by most RFD that be illegal, AA TDR and Verminator for example, both of which fall under 24″ when taken apart.

In Russia we have restriction of 800 mm length, but for the gun ready to shot. If it has folded stock it should have the bloker, which doesn’t allot to shot it folded. In fact nobody care about it, you can take it off, after buying the gun and nobody cares.

No, it’s longer then the legal requirement once coked and it cannot be fired once folded, so perfectly legal in the UK for 16J/12FPE.
In your particular case I would be really careful because the law says barrel length AND overall length.
Barrel length must be longer than 12 inches and overall length longer than 24 inches, AND means both conditions must be met.
The Leshiy has a 12 inches barrel and 12 is egual to 12 and not more than 12.

Don’t really have any caliber restrictions in the UK, although 16J without a licence.
Spoke to Ed yesterday and mine have already been etched and will be coming with cals on them 🙁 oh well no biggie 🙂

Ordered one of those Vector scopes, thanks Kayser/Wingman for all the info. Originally wanted to go for another Razor, but too bloody heavy.

Grey zone as in those who do not have all the information. I would imagine trained police officers, including those who would be responsible in looking over any firearm would know the law and that 12″ applies to live fire.
