Leshiy – my thoughts & photos
Yeah! Arrived! The woodland goblin ‘Leshiy’ landed in my hands quite recently. I’m not able to tell you too many details right now, I’m still too excited. And I need to use it for a while…
I don’t have an extensive range of scopes to try on my Leshiy – so for now I can tell you, that my SWFA 1-4×24 with MilQuad reticle seems to be an awesome choice for general shooting. I’ll later try also Vortex Diamondback HP 2-8×32 (but the reticle is a bit on a thick side) and last week I ordered Hawke Airmax 2-7×32 (superb reticle!) so I should be busy playing with Hawke soon. So far SWFA works great.
I’ve tried two bipods, short Harris and some kind of cheap ebay bipod. Harris is superbly stabile, but the ebay one is more compact and lighter.
And last but not least (for today) – it can be carried inside virtually ANY backpack! It’s small enough to be carried in Tasmanian Tiger ‘Essential’ which is 6 (six!) liters pack. It’s very packable. Love it! Much more soon. Very soon!

SWFA rings, nothing special. Got the rings with the scope.

Oh yes, totally. I find 12x a bit on the low side lol.
Sure! Even with 250mm barrel it will give better accuracy with more target suitable scope. I will have Hawke AMX 2-7×32 after weekend so I’ll do some testing the following weekend. I’m sure it will be considerably better. 4x at 50 meters is really challenging for target shooting…
Do you think you would achieve better accuracy if you had the 350mm barrel? 25cm is very Short for a barrel.
Yeah, justy for fun. And it locks my hand better for steady off-hand shooting. I prefer magpul-style hold on the gun, more from the side than from the under. But I’m still experimenting :ugeekn:

Can’t wait for your video man… if it’s as detailed as Lelya, who knows, maybe I’ll get myself .25 barrel too? But in my case .177 is priority!
Anyway, don’t want to keep my post totally useless so one piece of advice for winter time: get some GearSkin (http://www.gearskin.eu) and make use of it – waaaaaay better feeling @ autumn & winter weather! I did that and it’s indeed awesome! Much nicer cheek weld now:

So finally it arrived on Friday! Hawke Airmax 2-7×32 with ultrafine AMX reticle and paralax adjustment. Much better solutin than 1-4×24 for target practice but still quite compact! Yeah, looks good… btw, I put the bipod in reverse position to move legs as much forward as possible to make my shooting position even more stabile.
I had my first quick session today at 30m range. I zeroed it initially on Friday so just corrected it for 30m zero and fired some 5-shot groups. With 7x mag, paralax at 30m and superfine reticle it was such a pleasure… and it’s easily visible in my groups.
Outer diameters: 8mm / 12mm / 13mm
And the c-t-c: 3mm / 7mm / 8mm
I attach couple of groups as the smallest one was surely a bit lucky… but still counts! Even @ bigger groups some pellets hit on top of another. I’ll do more extensive testing incl. 50 & 75 meters next weekend. I’m still not sure about 75m but good 50m groups should be below 20mm in outer diameter. I’ll let you know. Anyhow, for a first quick session with new scope it’s not bad.
Also the scope is actually better than expected. The etched reticle is very fine, great for precise sniping. I’m not a hunter but I guess it’d be not a hunter’s dream, especially during darker autumn days. It’s very fine and would easily get lost when shooting late afternoon in the forest. Illuminated reticle would help a lot in such conditions. Turrets are firm but I’d not trust them as a dial-in instrument. Clicks are not well defined, especially compared to SWFA… ok, honestly, non-comparable at all. So adjust the scope, screw the caps on and forget it. Use MilDot, it’s faster and easier. Glass is good, picture is clear, bright & contrasty. Adjustable objective is a blessing and it’s an ‘internal’ mechanism so the first 1/2″ on the front doesn’t rotate… should work like a charm with Butler Creek covers. It’s not USO or NF but for my needs (and for my wallet) it ticks all boxes. However it’s surely not as sexy as my SWFA 1-4×24 Tactical… at least for me!
