Q:

My .25 Cal. Long Matador, Groups added

I tracked the UPS driver down.

I think that I will go shoot it for about 8 hours!

Pab, you don’t happen to have one of those Airforce Tri rails that you aren’t using? I need one and don’t really feel like machining one up myself 😀

Dave

Why yes, yes I do. 😀

I posted this in the General thread also. I wanted to put it hers just incase someone doesn’t see it there.

I got to go to the range this afternoon. It was windy, I tried to shoot in the calm spells. For the last 8-10 days I have been having D.O.N.T. issues, (Dumbass Owner Named Tedd). I think that I might be making progress again.

Here is a pic of my shooting setup.

Mam gave me the idea for the Chrony mount.

I had been having trouble with my groups opening up. It was driving me nuts! I think that my barrel mounts had shifted slightly and was shaving the pellets a little. I loosened the mounts up and gave them a couple good wacks with the rubber coated handle of the pliers that I had with me. By the time I got everything ready to go, It was getting too dark for my Chrony to work. I wanted to shoot the tank down and refill before trying for any groups. I must have shot at least 30-35 shots in the circled mess just to the right of the calipers. That mess measures 2.40″. The last group of the day was .790. I can’t wait to get to the range tomorrow night and see how it does now.

I was planing on just getting data tonight. I wasn’t going to shoot for groups. I was shooting into rergular paper and the .25 tears it up bad. If I was using the card stock paper, the .790 would have been tighter. I can see that I am going to have to get me some digital calipers If I want to run with the big dogs!

Here is some of my shot strings, from today. The last one has 10 shots on it. By the time I got the barrel moved over, It was too dark for the Chrony to work. I think that the .790 group was shot in the 950s.
The way the Matador is set right now, I get 40-45 regulated shots.

Im going to after my frame modifications and make some new, better fitting, barrel bushes. Then will come a drooped valve mimiking the E-tac and I will be ready 😀

Dave

OK, Here We Go! I plan on trying some 100 yard groups also.

Anybody else?

I’m back, got air, got pellets, aint got the right sized allen key so I can adjust my tophat, but I’ll see how it goes.
Will be shooting tomorrow for 100 yard groups.
Gotta stick my Viper back on which will be a ball ache 😥

nice shootin, Mam. I hope to head to the range in about an hour.

Mine is not blowing tissue paper off of the transfer port block/barrel end any more. The .25 sure is loud, without the moderator, when dry firing and the barrel is 1 foot from a wall, in the corner of my kitchen!

When I fired it, I must have jumped about a foot! Had a nice ring in my ears for a couple of minutes.

Good deal goat.. Can’t wait to see what the 950’s does…. Please don’t make
me want to take my gun apart again…. 😆

Yea heck yea they are loud….lol

I still remember firing my Condor in the house for the first time….
Unbelievable…

Have a good one goat…

Ok, I thought I was done tuning but I wasn’t… Tedd talked me into doing more… Just kidding……

I turned up the reg about 1/8 of a turn and it is now shooting around 917
average and I cleaned the barrel….. I ran a full fill down to the point that it
came off of the regulator and got about 60 shots.. I was also shooting 65yd
targets while I did the string. I then did another fill and shot another short
string to make sure everything was settled in and not going to change… Then
I filled one more time and shot an 80yd group and a couple of 100yd
groups… Tedd I missed your record by one shot… Shot #4 dropped almost
off the paper.. When I looked up after that shot the wind was blowing my
flags all over the place…. Here are the results….

I see some “good news” in those groups – especially the bottom target. They are all “pooling” in the same general area – not bouncing around from target to target. So, it seems like your scope is working well…one less thing to have to worry about as you try to tighten things up.

Keep pluggin’ away – this is interesting.

ted

Well, it was not to be today….. I am trying several different holds to try to
stay on target through the firing cycle but I guess I have just not shot the
gun enough YET…
