My Cricket Bullpup Wood Stock Hack
I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time now, and I finally have some time to do so.
Stay tune while I hack off some serious weight off this old Pug.
I’ll be posting as I go, thanks for L@@king !
Warning this is and will be a drunken post / thread, please be kind.

heavy clunk of wood as a stock , but really , do they not have any foresight in stock design ? Can they not see the beauty in a more slender eye
appealing piece of wood workmenship ? Evidently , they do not or they just don’t care because they have already showed us what they want to
use as a stock design . Regardless , Sir , I say Thank You for showing us the beautiful stock that you created from the garbage they called a stock .

Hey BirdMan,
You really know how to tell it like it is.
Ya roger that on the Bullpup stock I can’t understand why KG made it so chunky to say the least ?
They took the word Bullpup much to literally I think !

thanks for looking !
On my Compact it’s the same weight as my WST that I had on before.
Cool that it’s not hard to swap out anytime.
But my 22 Standard that I had the BP stock on by being a 1lb, 4 oz lost in weight it feels like it lost the Scope off it.
The center of gravity has gone up a bit and feels top heavier, but over all lighter and quicker to bring up.
There’s a mark improvement with that custom pistol grip finger grooves.
Just by feel it really makes my trigger finger placement quicker and the same every time.

Now I have to say that this is one of the best looking rifle stocks on a bullpup that I have seen in a while . I know it may be cheaper to use a big

How does it feel now? noticeably lighter? looks real good on that shorty..
.
thanks guys, appreciate it.
I know one vendor is trying to get a CNC for making some custom stocks available for some of these BPs but that is a ways off. I bug him every month or so. 😡
CNC now that’s the way to go.
If one would just supply the bedding of the action into a block of wood will be a god sent.
Thanks a bunch for the kind words SECoda/Brant !

Nice job. I would say you have taken that piece of wood beyond what I thought was possible. 😉

Really beautiful…. Great mod GKU
got to say you have done a cracking job on that stock
Best stock I’ve seen yet!! With the wood, it gives you much more flexibility for mods… That dang plastic one I did was hollow on the fore end and the butt stock… so the overall envelope could not be reduced and streamlined like you did. You have some serious wood-working skills Greg! That would be one of those, I’ll never sell items if it were mine!
Impressed! :8:
Thank you !
Here is the weight reduction break down areas.
Before 39.5 oz after 20.5 oz about the same weight as my KG WST.
About 6 hours of total work time put in with no rushing, not counting drying times.

On my 22 Standard.

On my 177 Compact.

At the moment I have too many things lined up down the pipe to start anything. But, there is a small market niche for doing this mod on the KG wooden Bullpup stocks. If there is anyone interested they would need some wood working or wood crafting abilities and some tools to start out with.
Hand tools needed:
Wood chisels and gouges
Small mallet
Micro plane and or wood rasps
Powered tools needed:
Scroll saw
Table saw or better a band saw
Drill press
Other:
Sandpaper variety of grits
Sanding blocks
Scrapers
Lacquer masking tape
Stains and finishes
Wood glue
Computer graphic software would be also nice to have.
One could do a service by having one already made and ready to go. Have the customer send a Pal Pal payment ($150-$200 depending weather they keep the mag holder or you) to you with the KG bull pup stock as a trade-in. Mod the tread-in and repeat the sale.
The mag holder also will have a market for them as well. They will be breaking or missing parts/magnets.
I would be happy if someone retired or have some extra time to start this small business. But with all businesses it does come with a small risk, but its venture my lead to greater things like Custom Stock Manufacturing. I mean, who knows ?
