My Cricket Bullpup Wood Stock Hack
I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time now, and I finally have some time to do so.
Stay tune while I hack off some serious weight off this old Pug.
I’ll be posting as I go, thanks for L@@king !
Warning this is and will be a drunken post / thread, please be kind.

holy cow!!!! this thing is BA!!! :7:
Thank you Sir !
It does, that’s one of my day jobs/occupations out of 4 that I cycle throughout the year.
I employed your advice and took out the mass in the foregrip down to .3″ to the bottom, still enough to add a bipod if I need to.
I also thought of installing a laser designator inside of the foregrip also for that quick follow up shots under 10m ,,,, ,,, , , perhaps another time,,,, ,, , another post maybe. 😉

Cheers ~ GKU, bottoms up !!!
Thats some nice drunken wood work my friend, must make a nice change from ukes 🙂

I had to use my Pin Router again to size this screw cup into the stock, a weird fractional diameter.

Adding a custom grip to aid in a quicker and consistent trigger finger placement, fits like a glove but no more ambidextrous attribute.

This cheek area on the butt sides needed trimming down, from the mag holder thickness made this area fat.

I’m keeping the KG logo and pistol grip checkering.

Nice work! I’m excited to see the end result.

buuurrrrrrrrrrp ,,,,, ,, excuse me ,, ,,, , more carving today .. . .. .
I also notice that when I switched stocks from my KG Skeleton with the Bullpup stock.
The trigger position changed because of the pistol grip width was wider on the BP stock by 1/4″.
In the pic I removed this difference on the back of the grip with respect to the support bolt that runs through it.

My home made Gouge that I made years ago with a 1/2″ spade bit, price $.89.
Shape it to a concave, sharpen and strop it to a mirror razors edge and it never needed to be re-sharped yet !

No need to use a mallet here, just push to cut.
The joint has fitted nicely and it will vanish without a trace once it is finished.
Never use CLEAR EPOXY it will definitely leave a black line at the joint.

MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT WORK GKU
Glad I could be a “positive” influence on ya! … specially me beein’ a noob and all at this PCP stuff! Looking forward to following along.
It’s looking good, getting rid of some of the bulk. First thing to go on my Cricket was the 4 magazine holder in the stock.
Looking forward to photos of your progress.

Thanks guys I’m on vacation from my day job so I can drink as much as I like, said the wife.
Haven’t cut off anything but wood so far,,,, ,,, , knock on wood.
But if I do my wife said she can suture it back on for me at home no problem being a surgeon, with an exception of no pain killer though.
Hey Charlie your kind of that guy that inspired me to start this project you know.
I’m planning to use a dark walnut stain with a clear coat on top, the wood is pale as a ghost.

I really enjoyed catching up this morning on this thread! Me and wood just don’t get along worth a hoot! Ain’t never figger’d out how to burn wooden welding rods! 🙂
That saw and router sure would have made life easier for me when I did my synthetic stock, plus, the wood doesn’t have “internal bubbles”! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. I’ll be following along for sure. I’ve been using my severely modified synthetic stock for a while now and really like it. I think I’m going to put on another coat of the black undercoating spray now that I know it works well on it.
You plan to refinish the stock with stain/protective coating or just paint it?
I’m impressed you still have all your fingers…. Stocks looks real nice.
Nice work Greg. I wish the best.
Side pic and trimmings.

Gluing up the spliced piece with Original TiteBond wood glue.
This joint should hold if about half the thickness point is maintained throughout the reshaping process.

Some hand per carving work.

Looks like it’s coming along real nice. I just dropped my stock off at the post office, you should have it by Friday. Bottoms up!
