Q:

New CF shroud & muffler for the Bug !

I received my shiny, new CF parts today. The shroud makes the barrel and airtube equally long so now the gun looks that much better. The end cap is removable and underneath it there´s threading for the masive muffler if/when one wants to go stealth.
Unfortunately me and the manufacturer had a little lack of communication so the shroud is 20mm too short at the muzzle-end and thus the much bigger OD muffler can´t be threaded on.
No worries though since he´ll make me one in correct length.
Sorry about the usual “high” quality of them Pic´s … 😳

Thanks Steve (Scirrocco) for hooking me up !! :6:

Thanks for the info Dave. On a side note, have you ever heard of using periods in sentences. Reading your post is a PAIN IN THE ASS!

That’s funny. I did not have pain in my ass. My face turned blue after I completed reading his post.

Didn´t knew about the dead center thing. Never experienced that – only clipping and its effect on accuracy. No clipping = no change in accuracy with/without shroud/muffler. As said i quess i´ve been lucky . I find it hard to believe that any of the airguns have all the baffles so the pellet passes them dead center if not checked and aligned by a good Gunsmith. But then again – i´m no muffler/shroud expert … 😕

U never heard of a mod causing bad accuracy even tho its not clipping ?????? Nutshot dosnt make mods forsale only mates he made mistake of making steve pegg one after 18 month of him pestering to which first thing he did was copy all nicks ( nutshots ) work even bought nicks lathe to copy his work but could never master it lime nick just cheap copys no air stripper just cheap chambers belive me mods can cause ad accuracy even if there not clipping the pelket has to pass through dead center which most silencer makers dont get hence why nutshot uses a adjustible air stripper hope you didnt pay over odds or it but expect u did up to what nutshot charges lads or blodnob if u can get one off them ive never paid over £65 fr one off nick ir blod As i say read up on uk forums most lads what buy these end up selling on when there long range shooting suffers hence why i new it was a steve pegg mod from tne pictures 😉

I gave him the measurements but we misunderstood each other so that´s not his fault. I have no problem with clipping so either he has been lucky while making mine or he has learned something.
I actually PM´d “Nutshot” – and also someone i can´t remember the name – a while before i ordered these but one of them didn´t want to send outside UK and another one never answered the question. I can´t remember which was what … :geekn:

If it doesn´t clip i can´t see how it could have an effect to accuracy ??

My shroud and can were made by Neil Claque. That’s why I was surprised when I read the shroud that OP posted was too short, I just assumed it a NC shroud. Neil is over the top anal. In fact to a point that he sent me a a digital caliper to measure the barrel diameter because he didn’t trust my caliper readings.

You should of checked on uk forums first there plauged with clipping and loss of accuraccy he copys others work like nutshot blodnob no where near the skills we on the rapid site told him everything he knows but if you think hes skilled youve obviuosly never heard a proper nutshot or blodnob shroud ask on the kalibrgun forum and watch responce u get

Why not ? Works very well (all three of them) and are very well made with close tolerances.

Ooh dear please say u havnt bought a steve pegg shroud :suprisedn:

I am sure all of the inbound new .177 Compact Crickets are reserved at this point but maybe someone will change their mind when they arrive around the beginning of March or so. Based on history I would be shocked to see a good working Hummingbird in the US before about the beginning of summer… They also mentioned they were still tweaking on it last month.

I’m in on the shortest Cricket challenge because I have an itch for a .177 Cricket. That one I’ll want to be as compact as possible. Only problem is the hummingbird has me in lockdown. And from what I read, it will be only in .22 caliber initially.
I guess if a .177 cricket compact came up for sale, I might jump on it. Nice part of the.177 cal is it won’t take as much of a moderator to make it quiet. I see Ernest the Bug Meister has an HW moderator on his personal .177 Cricket, no report on how well it works, but not a bad looking mod.

No offense taken, Tango (bravo, foxtrot – do you copy ) :biggrinn: At all.
Gold would be cool for some but then again it would add exta weight … :suprisedn:

I could not care less about how my gun looks, whether the CF is flashy or not. My rifles – none of them – is for eye candy. For me the CF shaves down on weight and in this case also in size and eventhough not my primary goal at all – noise. All and every mod i do to my firearms is for function and function only. Was i going for beauty my AG´s would´ve been made in England and they´d certainly be no Bullpup´s in the arsenal.

Bullpup´s fit me well due the compact sizing and my recent condition …

I meant no offense if offense was given. But you have to admit that the gold plating would be pretty cool;)

yuk !! all this talk about the realities of life, shit man lets get back on point and to talking about shrouds and airguns !!!

Lol! Speaking about these flashy carbon fiber shrouds….why stop there? Why not bedazzle them with some precious stones and metals? Gold plate the cocking lever, trigger and rail? Embed rubies and sapphires in the stock? C’mon guys the sky is the limit! 😉

Don’t be surprised if I return mine to stock. I just like the stock look but do like quiet too, so we’ll see. I did ensure all original parts came with the gun when I agreed to buy mine.
