Q:

New Talon SS .22 Chrony Results

I started with a 2700PSI fill pressure and after about 20 shots I was down to 2500 with the powerwheel set to 1. I was shooting JSB Exact Jumbo Express Diablos that weigh in at 14.35gr… I had the PW set to 3 before the test, but the velocity was at nearly 870, so I decided to take it down to 1 on the PW. Are these highly variable results typical with the PW set so low, or is my gun just weird? All 20 shots fit into a dime size hole at 15-20 yards, with very little effort.

I took out the set screws on the top hat and re-tightened them… tried to just tighten them enough so they wouldn’t allow it to spin anymore, but also not to damage the valve. Then I shot about a dozen pellets and it’s loose again. What is going on?!?!

I have two Marauder rifles and one marauder pistol and all three gauges says something different. I then got an AF condor the original guage was off about 100 psi from my Joe B valve on my air tank. When I converted my condor to 257 I used a different tank and bought a guage for it through McCarr and I got lucky on that one. It reads the same as my JB guage clear up to 3200 psi. Not saying if you get one from McCarr that it would be correct. Just saying I got lucky. Hit and miss with the guages.

Just about all small gauges are off. Regardless of who made them. It’s just the way it is. 😐

Mine are both off one by 100psi the other by 600psi I’m not saying don’t call if you feel you can get better just saying the next could be worse 300 psi is not that bad also you don’t want to fill to full 3000 anyway so I would just keep it but that’s just my 2 cents

Its the gauge the small ones are never that accurate not pa fault or AirForce it is the simple fact they are crap and your gun is $600 you know not the gauge be happy they started making them with a gauge before the gun was $600 and there was no gauge if you feel what I’m saying

True. I’m just gonna deal with it as long as I’m not the only one with an inaccurate gauge.

sorry for jacking the thread

No problem. I’m going to contact PA about the inaccurate pressure gauge and ask them about the loose top hat. Kinda disappointing that my $600 air rifle can’t accurately tell me how much air I have left.

Give AF a call. They are good about sending those tiny allen wrenches out to customers. šŸ˜‰

When I pinch the top hat it has some rotational play. Is that normal?

Absolutely not. No play is acceptable. Your tophat is adjusting itself with every shot. Carefully snug the setscrews after applying blue locktite.

I don’t think I have an allen key small enough for this little bugger. What size do I need?

yeah, it’s quite small. It’s 0.05″ (trust me, I know what I’m talking about)

[ quote=”tcmalker”]no need for name calling sir! And I do know what I’m talking about I’m been doing this for awhile.[/quote]

You lying little bastard! A couple of weeks ago you were telling anyone who would listen that adjusting the top hat was in your opinion, Stupid!

Your a rank newbie to this gun platform. In no way do you KNOW what you are TALKING about! I and others here have ask you before, and now we’re asking you one last time. Stop giving advice on the AF platform. You have already proven you don’t know shit about it! šŸ‘æ

Folks, Do Not listen to this guy. I’m not going to waste my time arguing with him, as he in no way has the common sense to understand what will be said.

There are a LOT of old hands here on the Tag. You are welcome to ask, and we are happy to help. Just for your, and your guns sake, Ignore TCMalker.
