New Talon SS .22 Chrony Results
I started with a 2700PSI fill pressure and after about 20 shots I was down to 2500 with the powerwheel set to 1. I was shooting JSB Exact Jumbo Express Diablos that weigh in at 14.35gr… I had the PW set to 3 before the test, but the velocity was at nearly 870, so I decided to take it down to 1 on the PW. Are these highly variable results typical with the PW set so low, or is my gun just weird? All 20 shots fit into a dime size hole at 15-20 yards, with very little effort.

I had a thread on here about a year ago on my issues, but I didn’t want to start a new one and get in trouble. I’ma mess with the top hat this evening and see if I can get some more stable chrony results.
That should be fairly easy to do. Both of my talon ss would shoot 14 & 15 gr. pellets to 820 fps. Even with an o-ring behind the top hat. So the question is exactly what problems are you experiencing? If you post in another thread with all the info maybe you could get it sorted and enjoy a good airgun. Just as a quick note i have not had to put any extra money into any of my airforce guns to make them work very good and they are all shooters.
lol I have it in .22 cal. Really want it shooting in the 750 to 800 range consistently with the 12″ barrel
perfecto what caliber is it and what would you be willing to sell that piece of crap for that is not worth much but as a paperweight?
Man, I’ve been battling this issue for over a year, and now I’ve ran my SS over a chrony and the velocity is EVERYWHERE regardless of the fill pressure, and PW settings. Getting sick of this gun. Had it for a year and it’s been nothing but a paperweight for me. Going to sell it and save for an edgun or FX I think. Tired of dumping money into this thing.

The TT tophat replaces the original, stem and all. Simple to install too. You can insert a snug-fitting drill bit into the stem of yours, tighten to your heart’s content, then extract the bit. No dent.

Not sure what you mean by that. What are you trying to fix? The one piece top hat is just that, one solid piece. No set screws to mess around with.
If you by chance do damage your stock top hat it’s still usable, you just won’t be able to adjust it no longer since you won’t be able to turn it.
Is it easy to overtighten it and damage the valve?
you can damage it, I just don’t know how easily. I actually fucked up mine as I didn’t know what I was doing (shocker!). If you look down in the hole of your top hat and you see something bulging out, that could be the set screws a little too tight. If it’s perfectly round, then you’re good. Use loctite, or better still buy a one piece stem with inserts from Talon Tunes.
Must have been at least a few years ago I was telling people to use a one piece stem 🙄

you are going to have to tighten it some more or just save yourself some trouble and buy a TT adjustable one piece tophat

Just turned my TH about 1/2 turn CCW and I’m getting ten shots between 766 and 780. Once the wind dies down, I’ma punch some paper with it and see what happens. I’ll report back the. ;D
