NOT HAPPY WITH SELPHB VALVE!!!!!
Here is my Selphb valve.
Am I impressed? Am I fuck. After this video I installed the valve and tried to fill. I filled to 2500 psi and tried to release the pressure. Each time I opened the bleed( yes, as quickly as poss’) it all bled out again. Why? Because the oring that seals the tophat is too tight. When you depress the tp, you can feel it rolling the oring over in a ‘click’ type of way. When under pressure, this oring is expanding a little and totally locking the tophat open.
I’m gonna have to get the tp shaved a little to make a decent fit, get the stem replaced and put a smaller return spring in. So for the price of a new valve, all I am actually gonna use of this valve is the valve body and tp(once I modify it to work). What a waste of money and time(including Mam’s who sourced it for me)
Totally gutted.
Try and send it back? After all the problems people have had with getting hold of him etc, I don’t think I’ll bother. I’ll be able to sort it out thanks to Sean and Lang, but why the fuck should I have to?
Let me make this clear. THIS IS NOT A COPY OF A BLODNOB VALVE!! IT IS A POOR ATTEMPT AT BEST. MINE DOES NOT FUNCTION AS IS AND WILL REQUIRE EXTENSIVE WORK TO GET IT GOING.

Thanks Pabs. :):)
too bad the , as you say, silence is deafening. opportunists drive me crazy.
Pab, why does it need a heavy return spring? I must be missing something because it seems to me a very light spring, combined with the pressure in the tank would be more than enough, or would that be inviting a tank dump?
Yes the selphb valve came with a spring. To be quite honest, if anything the proper blod spring is even heavier…. I not sure how you would define ‘hard to cock’ I sometimes use alot of preload and I would never say its overly difficult.
pablouk did you get the hammer spring w/ the valve? is it the same as blod’s? the one I have is hard to cock even with out the power wheel and just spacers installed
IT was sold as an American Bloodvalve by selph.
Like I said before I have one, never shot it though 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳
It could be good or it could be junk 🙄 🙄 🙄 🙄
I really havent the time yet to mess with it.
However, seeing that Mr, Brad has not been around, I would have to say maybe he might have put out some sub standard valves.
I will also add I truley believe he meant well, the whole idea, but greed took part and the valve just is not right, who knows.

Brad has said on more than one occasion that he does’nt come here very often any more. According to him it was not a “money making” venture, just a chance for someone stateside to make a “modified blodnob valve” more available here in the US. I hope he will address the issues with his valves and gets everyone sorted. I guess if you need to notify him is is best through his e-mail or website.
I am curious what the actual failure rate has been overall. I know there have been several posts regarding breakage
of course, {and this isnt meant to be an excuse} the rest of us have no clue how the rest of the weapon was configured…ie striker weight, striker spring, ect, ect, ect…muchless how many times the valve was cycled prior to failure.
Those of us who purchased these units need to share exactly what was going on when they failed.
I do agree that there is little question that the stem design is inherently weak so lets work on a solution…perhaps they need to be run with a stocker talon striker? Weaker spring?
I just dont want to go through a broken stem…
I started a thread quite some time back looking for ‘results’ and those were near impossible to get. So getting the failures posted is likely going to be even harder.
So Pabs in the end it looks like I called it pretty damned close eh?
Brad was or is not an airgunner and he even admitted not having any results his own self in fact about all he was doing is buying stuff to copy and make a buck. From DAQ rifles and barrels to AF stuff.
…… I told you so! ………..
I reckon you called good on this one walt’ (but you call bullshit on most things, so you bound to get it right sometimes 😉 😆 )
I too always found it funny that alot of these selph valves were sold, then very little was said or reported on them by the buyers.. 😕
As a rule, if something works well, you will hear about it from the people, extolling the virtues, the power, the consistancy, great this and great that. What we had here was a big hurly burly excitment of lots of people buying up a well known and tested valve, and then after it had settled down a bit and lots of valves were out there, we heard NOTHING. The silence was deafening.
Never a good sign. Have we had a SINGLE report of a happy selphb valve owner? Have we had a report at all, good OR bad?
Its as if people were ashamed to say they had bought a turkey. Can’t diss a machinist, he owns cnc stuff, so it must be me, not the valve!!!
I dont own one of these valves though i would like to anyway i dont think any of the tolerences were checked on them its all bout quality control.when i built my first moderaror it was done by trial and error ive been reading all the post on this and i agree with all have said to some extent theres an old saying measure 100 times cut once test fit if it dont work measure it 200 times
Mine isn’t going to fail since I won’t shoot it with the original stem. Just looking at it I know it would break, even more so with the coil over car shock spring I got with it for the hammer spring…
I didn’t want to go through the experience of having to depressurize the tank once it broke… 😯
After hearing about the o-ring issue I may not even get it to work with the new stem… 😕
My understanding of the process is there are a few kinds of prototypes. A design prototype is something that tests an idea and typically gets taken apart and adapted as things evolve. Then the design prototype gets retired and the parts are used to set up production by whatever methods are chosen to manufacturer the parts.
Production prototypes are constructed to test the production process for flaws and then the production run is started once the bugs are worked out. It’s rare that a designer or machinist sells or gives prototypes to others for use.
Of course this whole process changes based on its scale and the type of product being created.
Savage, Believe it or not, we’re (You and I) are saying pretty much the same thing.
He went straight to the productin with CNC Without ever hand making and TESTING!!!
May be I should have kept it short and Simple.
Bottom Line, you have to be able to make it right, and make it work BEFORE programing the CNC to spit them out in numbers. It takes a lot more than being able to program to make a quality part.
I can’t program shit, but you have never heard of a Lovett Combat Knife Failing! 😉

Walter is right. Pab has both right in front of him and I believe he’s knowledgeable enough to make a call on this matter. That being said, the other poster who said we don’t know all the variables in every case makes a point too. Having said that, I can’t remember EVER reading about a Blod (Sean made) valve failing.

But you have to be willing to get her to work.
This valve is nothing but pure exellence, I have not had the time or the energy to get it to do what it was designed for.
I will some day step up and get the valve working.
To all the folks, yes this is one bad assed piece of valve, you just got to be willing to to mod. your gun to make it work.
Although I have never had my Brad valve fire ing, I know it has got to be strictly awesome.
The only issue would be, you have to be willing to sacrifice for it.
Brad, although I have not fired up the valve, I know it will produce when the time comes 😈 😈 😈 😈 😈

Let us know once you get a change installed and tested it, I want to see how awesome it is 😆 😆 😆

You guys are talking about the Selphb valve so I stuck this post here.
Just shot 30 rounds through a 24 LW TT barrel in .25cal. Talon, Selphb valve, Drum 85gram hybred hammer, Drum spring, and standard Air Force tank. 2800 fill for each 10 rounds. Power wheel turned all the way down.
Crow mags. 1098, 1095, 1089, 1089, 1081, 1078, 1074, lost the last 3 rnds.
I found out my top hat was lose, reset it and tightened it. Next 10,
Crow mags. 1125, 1120, 1118, 1117, 1112, 1110, 1106, 1109, 1101, 1098.
Top hat was loose again, reset it and tightened as good as I could. Next 10.
Kodiaks. 1036, 1095, 1094, 1093. 1091, 1088, 1085, 1082, 1083, 1076.
Top hat was loose again, so I just put on a drop of blue locktite. This is the first chance I’ve had to play with this valve. Maybe now with the locktite the top hat will stay put and I can get some good fps reading.
