DaveG (custom gun builder many know on YF) uses ST barrels but tests and often returns many not up to snuff. Tim McMurry (Mac1) does the same with LW match barrels he selects for his custom guns. I think Manny knows The RAW guys are swapping barrels for best accuracy?

How does one get a truly match grade barrel? All smooth twist barrels are sold as match grade I thought…. ❓ ❓ ❓

Does one need to buy 10 barrels of which ever brand LW, BSA and or ST and test them all and pick the best one?

Second place Noah Sever was the winner of Sportsman class at 2014 EBR with the same FX Bobcat I believe.

There seems to be quite a lot of difference in ST barrels, some shoot really well at 100M while others just can’t do it. Wan’t there a story that every ST barrel is test shot in the factory, that would make it easy to pick up the best ones.

I wonder what the scores would look like if we threw in some .25 BSAs. They seem to work well in Netherlands.

That was established several years back and I know of no reason it would change. It should not be a big deal.

Even Segerman with the RAW is a pro shooter with a custom gun. Again nothing wrong with that unless you believe a store bought gun stock will shoot like these. I shot competitive light varmint class bench-rest for about a decade and no one would even think of using a stock gun.

Why would anyone think these are stock guns being used by the competition pro shooters? 😯

I agree with Manny in that the right ST barrel can shoot well at 100 yards and the right LW match barrel and the right match BSA barrel etc… If I read between the lines on the sportsman class I seriously think it looks like the RAWs may out shoot the FX guns generally but hard to tell from the limited data available. The Sportsman class has more regular guns and shooters and the RAWs clearly dominated despite the higher numbers of FX guns. It might, in reality, be a landslide.

OK, and you know this how?

The top group of shooters in the pro class are all professional shooters and you will find them all below as pros. Regardless of brand they are not using stock guns. I would not draw any conclusions about off-of-the-shelf barrels of any brand from this.

the twist at the EBR is the unforgiving wind…. you get lucky or you know how to read the wind and lucky only gets you so far.

There were 4 Fx Impacts in the Pro. The two that made the finals “the Michaels” lol both did not shoot last year at EBR and at least M. Wendt it was his first time shooting the impact at EBR. So not bad I guess…

Or, at some point the public needs to give credit where credit is due,
looks the the ST barrel is definitely a good 100 yards barrel

You are correct. That is why FX was first and last. The field is loaded statistically speaking. No conspiracy theory in that Fred has supplied the guns for the shooters that came with him. Why would he not pick the most accurate barrels? I think you will find the off-of-the-shelf guns were nearer to the bottom. At least that is how it was for the 2nd EBR. If I was Fred I would not only pick the best guns but also the best shooters. He takes this very seriously. Not sure there is anything wrong with that.

Impacts didn’t fair so well even with the best of everything but still may be good hunting guns.

On the GTA Tom (maker of the slayer) posted this about his newly obtained FX Impact:

“It will be a few days before I get a good look at it. I will say that it is very light, thin and compact; the fit and finish is excellent and every feature is unique in its own way. Sorry I don’t have time for more. LOL.”

Well we will see if he gives more info on that…
