Ranger 45
Well I have a tracking number for the Ranger 45 that was assembled, test fired, chronyed, and shipped today.
28 inch barrel, standard stock and black crerakote finish, $1230 dollars including shipping.
To early to get the arrival date, it is not in the system yet.
Chrony numbers were:
Round ball. low setting 3000 PSI……1018 FPS
225………. low setting 3000 PSI……..877 FPS
405 shot 1 hi setting 4500 PSI………804 FPS
340 shot 2 hi setting 4500 PSI………843 FPS
These numbers will improve by 30 to 50 FPS as the rifle breaks in.

I do not think RC is the type to put down your gun I think it is more a matter of look how far dan has come. I think that a big bore made three years from now should beat the Ranger numbers. It is part of the awesome story about air guns evolving. That benefits all of us including people who bought older models with modifications and stuff. I am sure a gargoyle will put the hammer to some critters that power is nothing to sneeze at!
I can understand your excitement about the Ranger . It is for sure a step above this rifle . But this one will meet my needs today . But if Dan ever slows down I might have another rifle by Dan . That will meet the needs of that day .Enjoy your Ranger .Marvin

No intention of putting down either Dan or the Gargoyle, I am proud to own one of his rifles and would be proud to own a Gargoyle, I lusted after them for a long time.
Just repeating what he himself told me today.

Marvin , Dan told me your Gargoyle is one of the special ones, that there were only a hand-full build ! of those tuned that way , and these numbers you got sure prove that using the low power/pressure valve ! good numbers out of that gun for sure . those hand full of guns were the best gargoyles ever made according to Dan …. a real keeper for sure ! Yes that is about what I expected, I thought that I would be just under or at 900FPS with 400 Grain bullets.
Apparently 400 grains is just about right for this rifle and barrel length.
Dan says the Rangers at low pressure are about what the Gargoyles are on Hi.
But not having either, I will have to take his word on that, and he did make both.

The cool thing about your gun is how fast it can shoot at just low power ! for just shooting fun ! 454 round ball -230-255 cast bullets ! you will have some fun shooting this gun ,
then you put 4500 psi in it , and kill that elk/deer with the 340-540 grain ! close range shot , or even go lighter 250 grain flat nose for higher fps longer range shot !
that is what is so cool about this gun is how you can adjust the power for the bullet you want to shoot on the fly !
Please understand that Dan put a lot of work into the Gargoyle rifles as well . The Ranger in a big improvement over the Gargoyle . And has about 50-60 fps advantage over the Gargoyle up to around 3800psi fill with a 28 inch barrel. Which is about the limit of the Gargoyle . So the higher fills are on of the many advantages of the Ranger . But lets not put Dans past work down either . My Gargoyle was tested by Dan to put out 685 fpe with a 385 grain bullet at 3800 psi . with the high pressure valve . I have not used that valve myself . But here are the readings with a low pressure valve .Marvin

UPS tracking has it in the system, it says before the end of the day on 4-1-11.
Now what is that holiday that has to do with April 1st?
So this weekend, I will be shooting the new BB gun.
PB, why do you say a Shoebox, Booster, hose assembly, 3 SCBA tanks, Pygmee tank are $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$? 😯

I hate to have to break it to you like this, but Dan was only able to get one reciever, and he was going to give it to you, but I talked him out of it. So send those bullets to me, I will PM you my address, no hurry it will be a week or so before I need them.

I have 50 225 HP’s and 50 385 HP’s.
I will order some of those same bullets you have coming and break the barrel in with those.
I ordered a .452, 425 grain Accurate Molds mold and will be casting those one at a time, shoot them as cast unless they are way too big, but I ordered it to cast with pure lead so it should be alright.
I wanted a low powered scope with a Ballistic reticle so I am putting a Burris 2×7 Muzzle loader/shotgun Fullfield scope on it, for 169 bucks it seemed like a good deal, I will see where the bullets land in relation to the Ballistic hold over marks with the 425’s and go from there.
I am stoked as I imagine you are too. UPS tracking will be getting workout this week.
I have my three 44 SCBA tanks and the Pygmee filled and ready, don’t you just love the Shoebox?

I won’t be able to make it over that way any time soon to help you break-in that Ranger (beyond my control).
When I get paid, I’ll send you some .452 Devastators, and 260grain RNFP’s to test out if you like. I might have some other .452 stuff as well…..I’ll have to check.
