Received my "Knock-off" Atlas Bipod today !
Got the Atlas-copy/knock-off/whatever Bipod today. I haven´t hold an original Atlas in my hand so i don´t know exactly how it feels and so but this one looks exactly like it does on those Greenbase pics and is a well made piece as it seems. Definitely worth the price. As i said before i only have good experience with Greenbase (have bought loads of stuff from them in more than a dozen occasion) and the Bipod in question is as described and well worth those few bux it cost.

a) Quick Release mounts – works perfectly on both – no adjustment necessary
b) Wobbly leg (only on one of them) – It was really only one leg on only one bipod and I simply snugged up the Allen bolt that holds the leg on which was loose. (Now it is less wobbly than my two $250 Atlas bipods)
btw – if the leg wobbles because the leg bolt spacing before the threads is too long by a bit all you need to do is to shim between the leg bolt head and the first brass washer with the way it is designed. I am not big on grinding or drilling unnecessarily.
c)Pivot and traverse movement – I added a spacer/washer on top of the spring to hold the mount up a little higher when I tighten the metal ball joint on the clone for better pivot (I will acknowledge that this is a cruder solution than the fancy ball/delrin pivot on the real Atlas but this is as functional as the cheesy designs/joints on the pivoting Harris bipod clones I own. GB even greased the ball and leg joints!
d) Paint finish – only time will tell – it looks great right now. I will drag my Stubby outside hunting so we will see how beat up it gets over time.
e) Leg rotation guide – this is one area where the clone excels on my two – the clones have less play in the rotation guides when they are locked in place than the real Atlas.
Conclusion – there is NOT another $200+ in utility in the real Atlas bipod for my shooting from a bench rest. I am thinking that the owner at GB must fix issues based on feedback. Based on the strength of the build I am not really concerned about use over time either. 😀 I wonder if SWFA will take the Atlas bipods on returns for a down payment on a night scope – just kidding but the clones are better than I expected from the comments.

Update: I want to thank Airwolf as well. I added those o-rings he suggested. Now I need to add them to the real Atlas units – kidding.
Thanks for the excellent post on the Greenbase Atlas bipod. I am used to shooting off a sand bag and still have to experience shooting from a bipod.. whether a $200+ or a $45 clone.
Great write-up SECoda. I sort of feel just like you – with a little TLC these are great little pods! Your description of your “real” Atlas is exactly what I found with mine. The legs wobbled in the long axis and also front to back. That’s why I sent it back the day after I got it – $269 – no thanks. JMHO.
It must have been “bring your kid day” at the plant – wait a second that is every day in China. 😆 I am actually surprised at the quality of the piece for the price. I really expected less.
there a good bipod for the money…i had to file one of the legs down cause it was noticably thicker than the other and when the Allen screw that held all the parts together was tightend all the way…the leg would not move from that position…so wabbling wasnt an issue for that leg cause a spacer would have just caused the leg to be even tighter..lol…but now it works like a charm and i dont think ill ever have that problem again.

To my surprise I spent roughly 30 minutes on the first and 15 minutes on the second and they beat the heck out of my Harris clones that have pivot and traverse movement. I am thinking that I got version 2 with the new lot GB made based on some of the comments??? 😮

I try not to destroy. But I hunt in the rough shit so sometimes things get damaged.
My Original Atlas so far unscathed. My Edgun 22 front shroud-not so lucky.

I hear ya. It works pretty dam good now. However the finish is nowhere near as durable but for the price I am very happy now that its fully functional.
What are we gonna do for entertainment when we get these knock-offs working as well as the original? Maybe we’ll need to get a life… 😎

Well, I always have been one that’s addicted to overkill…
all i did was take a paper buissness card and traced out the brass ring size, then cut it out and used it as an oring…the legs are stiff to turn but dont wabble anymore and feel nice and firm…

I´ve bought things from GB for many times and they have the best clones/knock-off´s and replicas from all the Chinese “outlets” – by far. They also have a fast customer service,are willing to make things right if something´s broken and listen to your complaints if you have one. We should send him a detailed info/suggestions for improvements and make these clones as good as they can be right off the bat.
