Returned my Talon SS, help me decide what to replace it with
I had a Talon SS in .25 cal and just wasn’t happy with the top hat valve design and its inconsistencies in velocity due to it moving around on me… so I returned it to PA. After owning the Talon, I know I want something a little higher end, that is still compact and quiet. I still have my Hawke Sindwinder Tactical 6.5-20×42 scope and am trying to decide which Cricket to buy… or if the Edgun is worth the extra hassle.
I am a little concerned about the process of acquiring the Matador, so I’m leaning heavily towards the Cricket. I really like the skeleton stock, but it seems like it’s $300 more than the standard tactical version. I am just using the rifle to plink and hunt in my back yard… but I have several hundred yards to work with.

Duly noted. Tony said he could convert one of the R3Ms to single shot by swapping the receiver. I think I’m just going to go with the synthetic version cricket and buy the walnut stock separately at a later date… this way I can swap on the synthetic to knock around if I take it out hunting.

Sorry to bother you guys again… but as I am quickly approaching my savings goal to purchase a new PCP in the next week or so, I contacted Tony to see what he has in stock, and all he has is the short multishot version in .22. Honestly, I’d be more interested in the single shot version of the matador for sheer simplicity… plus I’m used to loading each pellet manually. The only rifles I’ve owned with magazines have been AR15s and AK variants, so I am a little wary of purchasing an air gun with magazines that may need “tuning.” As a newbie to the air gun world, should the Cricket standard in .22 function relatively well out of the box?
Once again, I am sorry for being such a wimp about making a decision, but it’s a big purchase for me… and it’s not like something from PA that I can send back if I’m not happy with it, etc. So basically, I want to be as confident in my decision as possible before I pull the trigger :winkn:
P.S. If anyone has a Cricket .22 Standard with the Skeleton stock or R3 Edgun in .22 Standard they’re not getting enough use out of, I’d be interested in taking it off your hands 😀

I am wanting to get the raptor badly, but afraid to until more reviews comes out. It will take me a while to save up, but if the raptor starts getting good reviews I will jump on it. If it gets bad reviews I will save longer and prob go with the Bauer jr.

I figured I’d give Steve a call closer to when I’m ready to place an order. As long as he can get me the .22 standard with the walnut skeleton stock and cheek piece… I’ll be a customer.
My easiest/fastest gun to get was my .22 Cricket but it has been my favorite shooter. We shall see with the Cricket Compact .177.
What compressor are you considering?

I was in the same similar situation almost a year ago. I couldn’t decide between the Ed or cricket. I have never own or even held an Ed gun (hopefully will get to one day).I went with the cricket .22 cal my reasoning was it was available no waiting, and felt like if something did break, I could obtain parts or have it fixed faster. I have not regretted my choice at all, I liked the .22 cal cricket so much, I immediately starting saving for the .25 cal cricket and got it in January. I am very satisfied with it so far, now I am saving for a air compressor. After that I will be saving for either the hummingbird or a cricket compact. This airgun addition never ends lol. I am sure eventually I will prob get the itch for a Ed gun and start saving for it, but so far my crickets have been awesome everything I hoped they would be and more. Like others have said Steve at Wild West airguns is awesome, if your on the fence give him a call he is very easy to talk to and knows airguns.

I can’t afford to place an order for the cricket till the end of the month. I have the same scope patiently waiting to be mounted. So maybe I’ll have it the beginning of next month.
I have a .177 Compact Cricket coming and Steve emailed that they had shipped on the weekend from CZ. It will probably be here late next week. I have pre-ordered and received 5600 .177 pellets (JSB 10.34s and Predators). I already had 4 tins of the 10.34s. 😆 I will plop a Hawke Sidewinder 6.5-20×42 on it until I decide on the scope I want to keep it light weight. I am also going to pick up some Crosman Premiers in .177 Wingman in NZ has a lot of luck with. They are so cheap here.
Good call. I’ll wait to put in a big order and get 4 tins ASAP. Can’t wait to order the Cricket, just two or three more weeks without an air rifle… it’s killing me
They run a ton of sales where you can use both or you get 3x bonus bucks which are credits on future purchases. For four tins I would just order them.
Guess you can’t use that coupon with free shipping. Maybe I’ll just buy 4 tins to start… and order 16 as long as they shoot well.
I set my Ed 22 up to shoot FT with the 13.43 JSB at 810fps (20fpe) and they are also just as accurate as 18s at 885fps.
I think the Ed will shoot whatever JSB is in it accurately if speed is in the 800-just under 900fps range.
Normally, the .22 or .25 Edguns or Crickets will like JSB 18.1s or 25.4 Kings. respectively. There are a few shooting 15.9 JSBs in their .22s and some other pellets in the .25s but I bet that is less common. Besides buying in multiples of four always use a discount code like PYRAMYD-NRA for an additional 10% off. I rarely buy less than 8 tins at a time and normally 16 to get the free shipping. Pyramyd packs them pretty well. I just had received another 16 tins of JSB 30 cal 44.75s and each tin weighs near a pound. (I bought 44 tins of JSB 30 cal since December but there are only 150 pellets in a tin) The box was large and relatively heavy but very well packed.

Sweet! I´d like to have a Plastic Fantastic for my .25 WST. The .22 stock is too short so i need to wait untill one becomes available. They already have a PLB (Bulldog ) stock for it so it´s only a matter of time.
