Returned my Talon SS, help me decide what to replace it with
I had a Talon SS in .25 cal and just wasn’t happy with the top hat valve design and its inconsistencies in velocity due to it moving around on me… so I returned it to PA. After owning the Talon, I know I want something a little higher end, that is still compact and quiet. I still have my Hawke Sindwinder Tactical 6.5-20×42 scope and am trying to decide which Cricket to buy… or if the Edgun is worth the extra hassle.
I am a little concerned about the process of acquiring the Matador, so I’m leaning heavily towards the Cricket. I really like the skeleton stock, but it seems like it’s $300 more than the standard tactical version. I am just using the rifle to plink and hunt in my back yard… but I have several hundred yards to work with.

I’m very happy with gun. Been shooting it in sub zero and often -5 dry f and it’s a shooter no doubt. Give Steve at wild west a call. You wipe glad you did.

I’ll give him a call. They sell the skeleton stock by itself for $225, so idk why the walnut version would cost $300 more than the synthetic version. I guess I could buy the synthetic model, and buy the walnut stock at a later time… then I’ll have both stocks for $75 less than buying the walnut version alone. Wonder if Steve would be able to lower the price enough to justify getting the wood version from the start.
For targets out to 150yds I would think you’re better suited to get a Cricket .25…I own both the Cricket and the R3M both in 22cal…I enjoy them both. The Cricket in my opinion is easier to break down then the Ed…but the Ed’s trigger is nicer. Not sure about the .25’s but the Cricket has a 14 round magazine and the Ed has a 10 round. Parts are easier to come by for the Cricket vs. the Ed…This is a tough decision…..either way I think you’re going to be happy.

I know they’re both really awesome… but it just seems odd to have to wire transfer money or send a money order for the edgun when I can use a credit card for the cricket. Sending 2 grand like that just scares me a little, so should I get the tactical cricket, or is the walnut version worth the extra $300.
Also is the standard version in .22 enough barrel for targets out to 150+ yards or should I just buy the .25 cal version with the longer barrel?
If you go with a Cricket – or with the EG – you´d be better off with a .25 cal. for that distance. I haven´t seen what the EG .30 will do at longer ranges so i leave it out of this.
You´ll get your EG, no problem paying upfront , but there´s probably a long wait involved since those Guns don´t grow on Tree´s.
And the “new” EG R3M is also a MS although i preferred, strongly i may add , the Single Shot.
The Colibri looks awesome, but I don’t see semi-auto as being a big draw for me personally. I do like the idea of a magazine, which is why the cricket is appealing to me. Coming from the Talon SS, I won’t miss having to manually feed each pellet into the breach.
I bought a used but as good as new skeleton walnut. 22 cricket for $1500 and it was the best thing I ever did. I went an got a synthetic stock and 2 clips after all under $1800

If I ware you, I’d like to wait for Hamming bird Colibri semi-auto in April. Same price as Cricket.

Makes sense… wish I could have both the edgun and the cricket. I’m gonna go with .25 cal if it’s available in the skeleton stock
