Q:

The T.U.R.D Coming !

Just a pic of the Tactical Utilitran Rifle Design striaght from the Voleworks design dept. This is what ive come up with …. 😕

Its .177 , 15 round mag , collapsible stock , AR grip , pump action , shrouded , 70 shot regulated and at 70cm long.

I wanted to design a gun for the guys who do ” Ratting ” as its known over here ,so its a small take down type gun to shoot rats in barns. If i get the drawings finished in the next couple of weeks the first prototype should start soon arfter on my mates new CNC machining centers .
Ive been drawing on Auto CAD for weeks , and im now experiencing the joys of learning 3D CAD ( for this and my CNC mill).
So i thought id see what you guys like / dislike because its not going to be for sale in the USA …hehe !. 😀
So what do you think !

You have to have a 3-d model to export iges.

No 2d program will do that.

If you have any further cad questions please feel free to contact me.

If I had the patience and skills you obviously do I dont think I would ever come out of the shed.

Very nice work there! Now, back to the shed!

Another work of art in progress. Looking good ❗ 😀

vrey nice bubba mate your doing another cracking job

Buba, why don’t you get a copy 🙄 of SolidWorks and start by doing the tutorials, it’s very easy to use once you get used to it and the tutorials are great! After you design your first parts you’ll see that 3D CAD it’s very powerful tool, because you can change parts dimensions to optimize the assembly and make it fit correctly. And plus the new versions have lot of stuff to help you analize the performance of some pshisical and structural properties when just don’t want to build an airgun, but a GOOD airgun.

Think about that… You only have one thing to lose, time… But I assure that you’ll find it very helpful 😉

Cheers,
Filipe

Ive made some changes to the design with Tunajussi ideas so il see what happens 😀
L8r all 😀

I’ll hope that I guided you to the right way 🙂

Keep on working, looks 8) so far.

Thanks all you T.U.R.D lovers out there…… Straight from the Voleworks machining facility…..
Safety nearly finish , machined out of one piece of bar so no screws which will be blackend with salts that Baz / Sean provided 😀 , just got to mill the flats that the trigger will lock against . This breach will have lots more removed from the sides with a weaver rail that will fit ontop of the dovetail groove. I got a weaver rail of Evilbay for £8 as i couldn’t stand the idea of milling all those grooves on my duff mill 😕 . Now going to mill the grip part as i want to get the big jobs done before it gets to cold to be in my shed.

Im only building this one is because i cant do 3D CAD and the guy whos intrested in manufacturering it realy wants 3d drawings. So i thought if i made a working version then that might kick start him into having ago at building it from the 2d drawings i have …….but we will see !.

Last pic to give you an idea of the size , the barrel will be flush with the cylinder when finished.
Any body out there who can convert Auto CAD file to an IGS file for me would be a real plus 😯 as i need to send my file to the chap in this format ? . Auto CAD will only import not export …..what a crap idea that was from the programers ……dohhh!!!
L8r all 😀

That is my favorite T.U.R.D. 😆

NICE!!! 😆 😆 😆 😉

You really like building airguns… Have you considered working in a manufacturer?

Keep us posted, your work is an inspiration to me. I can barely wait after Christmas to start working on mine… 🙄

Cheers
Filipe

Looks nice, keep going

A week off work gave me time to machine the breach , got to mill the slot for the cocking mech yet but im changing the drawing slightly for the locking slide. Because ive got no cash this gun will have to be made with the tooling ive got , im only going to buy some springs and abit of alloy bar which il make the valve plugs from. Ive made some changes to the design with Tunajussi ideas so il see what happens 😀

Safety next so i can finish the milling on the side of the breach , was hoping to buy an AR15 safety but the cash flow dont allow so its abit of a big job 😕 .
L8r all 😀

I’ll always try to help if I have anything in my pocket 🙂
Sorry about that poor grammar, if you didn’t understand some I wrote, let me know and I’ll try harder.

I think we’ve seen that Master himself could do what he want to do, but there will be days when something seems insuperable, then it is better to ask if somebody knows something.
Many times you won’t get answer you are waiting for, but it might give you new point of view which helps you going.

More information gives you more headache and then it’ll be hard to keep constructions as simple as possible.

-You should put some pump action locking system, if you don’t, this type probe will “close” airflow when it moves back when shooting.

-Hammer might have some buffers both end its bore for preventing hard hits. Like Steyer 110 FT has, its hammer spring stops pushing hammer forward before hammer hits opening valve, hammer “fly” as its own last few millimeters with energy given by hammer spring.
With this design you don’t have to cock rifle before filling the tank, and it won’t dump (not so easily) when shooting.

-You can always “wear” hammer with some plastic (like BSA Hornet has) if there are no room for extra sleeves, with 12 ftlbs version you don’t need heavy hammer.

Tuna,

Thanks for the info. we love reading about that stuff. 😀

Thanks for the ideas Tunajussi 😀 , this build will be a pump action but i hope to do some trials to see if i can get blowback. Intresting to see the damage to the hammer bore something i hadnt thought about , so sleaving the bore will have to be done. Ive got another design for a semi auto with a differant trigger group that dosnt allow full auto and with the safety on the middle shear.
Went with the Hornet type probe , as when the probe pulls through the mag it would stop the sprung mag turning and hiting the retreating probe !
Regulators are new to me so this will be a learning curve …abit of trial and error 😕
The whole idea the test rig is more to find out the springs needed for the gun to cycle on 12lb s of energy ….and thats the tricky part 😕
