To anyone that has a Jack Haley .257!!
What bullet molds are you using, if you’re casting your own? his specs are for 80-90 grains, but the only molds I’ve been able to find are for 50-55 grains, or a 64 grain mold. I need some guidance before I take the plunge on a Jack Haley rifle- Mind you, I don’t want to buy pre-cast bullets, I want to cast my own. My dad’s been clearing out the basement and found about 12-15 years worth of scrounged lead… so I’ve got some castin to do!!! 😈

Im using a 3150psi fill on my haley. Im in the woods hunting now and got turkeys all around me. I’ll check back in later.
Just me, but personally I would be a little hesitant to have a LDC that would contain that kind of pressure, threaded at 1/2 x28 due to pushing the legality of the air gun LDC concept without having a Class 3 Tax Stamp on a form 2 that is serial numbered to the LDC.
So for me, I will stick with just the air stripper, which is loud but that is not a problem for where I am at.
If I need it to be quieter, I will build a 2x2x8′ box to shoot thru, lined with sound deading material, mount my Chrony at the end of it and set it up in front of my shooting bench
And I chose the air stripper application, over a bare barrel, due to the feeling that the high pressure air out runs the bullet base as it exits the muzzle and pushes it in ways that can be a detriment to accuracy.
And no WOK, that is bare barrel, not bare back. 😛

I don’t think there are many 1/2″-28 LDC’s out there….RJ, what kind of starting fill pressure do you use on your .257? Thanks.

Just putting this out there. I’ll trade a bunch of 257 bullets or 308 hp bullets for an ldc. Just sayin

I talked to Jack and Reba a couple days ago, Friday I believe. I asked them how many they have built and how many orders they have.
Jack said they have built less than 10 but have many orders on the books.
Seems these days everyone is considering it.
Interesting as my Ranger 45 was the 12th one made.
The threads that Jack put on my 257 for the muzzle break are 1/2×28 which is what the AR Stoner muzzle break. I will need to open it up because it undoubtably was made for a AR 15.

you might be right, but I’m going to try anyway.
The ABS plastic is quite strong and the pressure is dropping rapidly as the gases leave the barrel
if nothing else it could make for a spectacular POP 😯
if it fails I’ll go the same route and machine some aluminum
If I wasn’t a lazy slob I’d try the modular thing with that too 🙁
I wouldn’t make it out of plastic. The pressure from my .257 is way more than I would use plastic on. My .308 shroud is all aluminum.
Once I get mine I will make a LCD for my Haley. Going to start working on my .257 shroud here next week. Should knock it down to almost backyard friendly.
I’m modeling up a 3D printable, modular LDC right now,
Idea is if you need to quiet things down a bit more, at the expense of a longer LDC you can just add another section or 10.
Currently working on 2 baffles, a long cone one and a tube for using some Mr. Clean magic eraser or your preferred absorption material or different spaced baffles – lot’s of possibilities.
might need to take the shroud off the Marauder and try a few scaled down on it too see if it’s going to work.

Can you post up a pic of your barrel to airtube clearance as well as the barrel and airtube as it comes OUT of the receiver?

When I ordered mine I was told end of November but I think I will be lucky if I get mine by Christmas. Reba said they were running behind.
Reba said in November, and I think it will be around Thanksgiving when I have my hands on it.
Mine took a little longer because they had to wait longer for the 36 inch tube.
