traxxas E-Revo 1:10 brushless
it arrived yesterday, i ordered it as soon as i had sold enough stuff…but it seems like they are in short supply most places, and where its available they want nearly 700 bucks for it….so i ended up canceling the truck at thebarnfloor.com who had it for 609….and went ebay for 660 with 8% bing cashback….making it 608 incl shipping
bought 4 packs of zippy 3S 25C 5000mah batteries and a 8 cell charger for lipo….charger can be programmed in tons of ways, and it does balance charging and all including temp probe
also ordered castle link which allows me to program the ESC, and theres a lot of stuff to change….like braking, acceleration curve, how much initial power it can draw and much more
anyhow the truck….well buggy….no truck…had it not been for the monster truck wheels i would call it a buggy with such a streamlined body and all
its all very nicely laid out…and came completely ready to run…i dropped 8AA into the transmitter, and loaded 2 lipos….and off i went driving a bit carefull….but its very hard not to try see what it can do.
before programming it….it was VERY agressive, launching wheelies as soon as you added more power, allmost hard to keep the front down….it has tons of body roll, and the gear train could sound nicer….but it all works….breakes was set at 50%, which is like a sloppy 1:8 nitro buggy brake, upped it to 75% which is enough to make a stoppie, so i lowered it to 70% which gives lots of breaking, but only does stoppies when max brakes are applied and surface allows it.
this truck should come with a center diff, why they dont dump that 25$ item in there from the start is a mystery to me….with all the wheelie power it would be nice with a centerdiff to transfer the power forward once the front lifts off
second i wish they had used bolts on some of the screws….they just thread into plastic, and is way easy to overtighten, even with great care taken…
third….i would have liked it as a kit….you learn so much from assembling it your self….not i have to guess what to take appart for access a certain part
i got center diff ordered, but it hasnt showed up yet….and i ordered a sway bar kit….this kit is a must ! it helps soooooo much
one tire has allready shredded 🙄 i hope some glue will hold it together so i can get a few more miles out of it
i put my old digital camera on it….it has a lens housing for extra lenses so i though that would protect it …and it did….but the ride was too rough i guess for it to keep recording…it kept ending up with format error….i really wish i had recorded there was some spetacular crashes 🙂

took the e-revo out for a spin tonight…. chasing cars down the road….when transmitter looses connection…and its not even far from me…hit the curb and ends up in a bit of grass…no biggie….
then a little while after it friggin looses connection again….and runs straigt into the wheel cap of a parked car….clipping 8 wires to the front lights on the car…and leaving a nice scratch on the plastic hub cover on the parked car….i went back in to get some paper….and left a note.
wtf is it with me and rc cars today arghhh
the phaltline’s tires i got are awesome though….my backyard has hardened and these street trires are pretty good there….but they shine on pavement….they are awesome !
off to bed before i destroy something else….
nope concrete curb…hurts….coincidentally thats how i broke my aprilia rsv mille R’s frame as well…..slid ou hit the curb….auch….spring is here…people on motorcycles…i know its getting hot out…but wear you leathers….!
damage to rc i now realize is more extensive….two lipo battery pack squished( at at least 50 bucks) …and battery tray broken (15 bucks)….arghhh….dang it there gies next months allowance
dang it money are tight now that we opted to get lucas in daycare a couple of days a week so i dont go crazier than i already am
so how dangerous is a slightly squished lipo anyway ? it charges fine and is nice and cold…..but i dont know if the damage is gonna show now or it will show when in the car while setting that on fire ?
better just charge it and shoot it and see what happens 😈 🙄

got a 44T spurgear….awesome….mounted it…and took it for a spin…33mph on 1 battery…thats a 10% speed increase…..
so i try make some fast passes on the road….sure enough i hit 68 mph according to the controller….that a huge increase…tires where balooning etc….
so i take it onto our little culdesack road….and and someone thats building a fence for the neighbors comes out wanted to see what that was…he was a nitro driver him self….cool beans….i show off a bit….make it to 58 mph on the little road and i run out of fucking space to brake…i figure i got it braked down to about 20-30 mph…and it hit the curb sideways like
first the front diff housing takes a beating and strips 3 out of 4 screws…dang it…superglue the screws in place….seems to hold…take it out to continue driving, and notice the rear looks funky… apparently…one of the rear hubs has been torn from its cross axle…damn it pis up my ass
ebay has the parts….40 bucks to repair….shiiit shit out my ass….5 day wait minimum….shiiiiit
support you local hobby shop…..MY ASS….store credit only….well thank you if thats the way you want it…i will not support it !

Foam is ok, but if you really want to do foam right you have to get a tire lathe to true new sets and clean up old sets…
I believe they stick better on road surfaces than rubber since they are softer. I do know if the road surface is rough you can tears chunks our of the foam…
I used to watch nitro road racing when I was a kid (back when there were actual outdoor tracks in California) and the guys used to dope their tires to get them really soft… Cool stuff but not a casual street race with the neighbor kind of thing…
If you really want to go crazy there are suspension alignment boards (camber, castor, ride height, wedge) and four wheel scale setup to balance the car…
got the motormounts filed a bit more and able to fit a 20T, 54 mph…..lots of front tire balooning….wonder why its the front that ballooons and the rear dont….maybe its the wing, and rotational force that lightens the front
tried without the wing….and the buggy got very hard to control….the slightest steering correction, would send the rear sliding.
maybe for speedruns its best to lock the center diff
the gears where a bit too tights making a funny sound while driving so i better go back to 19T
hmm have been googling like crazy for some street tires for the buggy…well maybe for the revo too…..
for the revo phaltliners seemes to be the ticket
theres a gt class……in 1:8 buggy….ex. the inforno GT, ant seems likes theres some tires from that kind of model that will fit….
why all of this street stuff….well neighbor was looking into street car….and i wanna be able to drive where he is gonna drive….we do have a nice culdesack road with plenty of space for a make shift raceway

thats another reason i didnt go nitro…break in…tuning it…just a hazzle….and the noise…i love it…but neighbors hate it…..with a car to give me 12v i can charge with 7 amps….which would charge a set of batteries in 30 min…about the same time it takes to drain them :-)=

i sold my inferno to a friend….that way….you brake it you buy it….he wanted to do some speed runs….and so he did ringht into the front wheel of my scooter tat the time….broke the front bulkhead, suspension, tower, basicly everything on the left front side….told him i wanted 550$ for the truck and it was now his….bought a paintball gun….fucked up me knee…traded it for an airgun….and been airgunning ever since….and now its full circle…im back to RC
50 mph….i bet i can outrun that thing….i got torque from the get go….with some good street tires….are there any you would recommend for a buggy ?
I haven’t gone through a set yet, I have only run it a few times after the break in… I was being nice to it for now…
So which system would you recommend for distance?

HPI Phaltlines….looks cool….doesnt ballon as much as others but still needs prepping (i use gorilla tape on the inside…just one layer). I tried my best….and gps made it to 72 mph, and the truck remained steady and controllable on pavement…they suck on grass and gravel as expected…..its a low profile tire which means it up to the suspension to soak up the shoks….so can be quite hard on the wheel hubs….theres no rubber extending over the sides…so the rim takes a hit should you slide into the curb…..and they scratch the rim easily if you roll it

from left to right is prolone holeshot thats been run on pavement….traxxas stock tire….then a fresh holeshot….proline mulchers….and lastly on the truck the phaltlines
pro-line holeshots are ok not great just about everywhere i have driven….sand, pavement, dirt…..but they wear quickly especially on the e-revo on 6S….a little fun on pavement and they go bald….but they are great while they last !…theres plenty of rubber on the sides and they are medium profile…so they soak up bumps nicely….they do require taping if you hope to do any speed runs, and in general i would suggest taping all your tires
mulchers are large…they soak up the bumps really good….the big spikes are perfect for grass, sand, mud and gravel…they do mulch your lawn and offered grip on my little dirt track that i did not expect….they are large and soft so bumbs etc is handled really well, i love these tires, the MMM system on the e-revo spins these huge tires with ease. on grass you better not go full throttle…they have so much grip here that something else is gonna give…an axle for example…..
stock e-revo tires…..well what is there to say…they are fine for your first day of bashing….do your self the favor…boil then for 5 minutes on one side…turn the inside out and tape them up….they will explode on the brushless e-revo…you have probably seen this on youtube…then thought hmm prolly just one case of it….turns out its not so….they will explode !….and maybe launch your truck to outerspace !
i use maximizers 3.2″ ½” offsets (15$ a pair) cheap….they work…get extra screws as some of screwheads will round off….which is a pain in the a**, when it happens i jus a dremel to cut a slot in it and use a fleat head screwdriver to complete the job….not sure if i just got a bad batch of chinese screws or if its me….but on the last set i bought 7/8 screws rounded…the ½” offset is easier on the axlehubs as it brings the mount close to the center of the tire….it allso widens the truck by 1″ total….which helps the truck from rolling over…win win situation
