XP airguns ranger 45 caliber 36inch barrel MONSTER !
I now have my new xp airguns ranger 45 caliber airgun , and i must say this is a MONSTER shooting gun . 😆 😆 😆 😆
So far i have tested out 454 round ball ,and 250 grain laser cast bullets .
during brake in so far the round ball is working better , dead on accurate shooting 3000 psi 1070 fps on low power , mid power 3800 psi 1150 fps working down 9 shots to 877 .
The laser cast 250 grain stuff , on mid power 987fps working down 9 shots to 720 ,
these numbers should improve by around 50 fps after break in according to Dan Mcvey .
this gun gets a lot of shots for a big bore , and with the long barrel the power stays up even at low pressures . 😉
some pics shooting this weekend.

I got the accurate mold in today , casull 348 grain is what they are cast in pure lead , and the 416 bullet that Charlie has been casting ,
so i did some casting , i did not have handles for the mold, it came in a lot sooner than i thought it would , i just ordered the handles today ,
so i had to macgyver up a way to do it using channel locks ! with protection on them while i was wearing welding gloves , it actually worked pretty good to my surprise 😆
it took a while to get the right temp , i noticed these bigger bullets liked more heat to cast up correctly , i think i casted the whole pot almost till i got the mold broke in , and the temp right using these bigger bullets , then melted almost all of it back down to do the final casting of what i did , a bunch of work , but i think i got things pretty dam close to being right , on mold temp ,

Dan,
Yeah I was noticing that yesterday, it is every bit as nice as the tuned trigger on my Condor, and that is saying a lot.
The difference is I put a lot of work on the Condor trigger, and the Ranger came that way.

Ok, Who is going to get first blood with there new.45 ???????? small critters apply. 🙂
LOL. Hell Dan, with that big bore and long barrel, you could have just bought a mop…..lol
Never thought about cleaning rods for those 36″ barrels. Guess that would pose a problem.
I was having a hard time finding a long gun cleaning rod for this 36inch barrel for a decent deal ,
i checked at big 5 for the heck of it , and to my surprise i found a 36 inch stainless steel hoppes with attachments /adapter’s for a whopping $9.95 compare to $60-70 the guy at wholesale sports that i called who quoted me a price ,
so if you get one of these long barrels you know where to go .
OK tried 4 of the pellet man 454 180 grain ,
they did no better than the lee 160 grain ,
hmmm…….maybe so much for going bigger diameter 454 ,
dam round balls ,and Charlies 416 , plus the red 340 are shooting the best so far ,
cross my fingers on that 340 casull extra bullet mold works out , in design it is very close to Charlie’s 46-425-b …52 sized 416 grainer
let me add one more thing first shot at low power 3000 psi 1050 the Tom Basile 180 g pure lead bullet went through 4 sheets of 3/4 inch plywood ….DAM ! 😯 it was just hanging out the back sheet ! 😯 on low power 3000psi ! 😯
Looks like Marvin saved us some money on that one.

OK i took 4 shots upper right hand circle is what i aimed at with lee 160 grain , it did not do well , you can see the last shot at 899fps hit the hole below , so that one is not flying well ,
i have some 454 bullets ,old ones from Tom Basile pellet man that i will try , i think

I have a Mildot on my 3200 5×15 Tactical and love it.
The Burris I have, I found yesterday that although I have a 100 yard zero with the 416’s, if I put it on 2 power and use the intersection of the fine and heavy at the top, it hits on at 35 yards with the RB on low power.
With the 416 I should have an aiming point out to 150 yards.
So do you think that 160 grain or whatever it is Lee bullet that Marvin sent you is worth a $20.00 mold Dan?
Roachcreek
i am going to test out the other bullets he sent next ,stay tuned , going out right now to do so ,
i am wondering if my gun likes 453 ?….. i shot some of those 453 red 340 grain you sent me, and those were dam accurate also , how did they do in your gun ?
how long did it take your mold from accurate to get to your house , once it was shipped , i got to order some lee handles up monday – from midway
Yeah Dan I love having different aiming points on a reticle.

I ordered a double cavity iron mold from Accurate yesterday, same bullet, just a more durable mold, might have the other one converted to a HP by Eric.
Tom says your mold shipped yesterday.
I got my mold for the RB yesterday and some flux and moldprep. The mold prep is just spray on graphite and lubes the aluminum molds pretty well, I had tried another graphite product on my Accurate mold, but it has galling, and the other product did not protect it, so I am shipping it to Eric to have him clean it up really good and then use the moldprep on it, while it is there I will have him look at it and see if it is a candidate for making into a HP mold.
It would not be a good choice for elk, but for deer, bear and smaller creatures it would be great.
The RB mold is fun, easy to cast with and quite accurate out to 50 yards. They sure build up fast in the box, lots of balls to shoot now, but then I cast until midnight. I was shooting it on low power, but did not chrony it yet, last night I switched over to med power for todays shooting.
I need to start filling the Ranger primarily from my airhog tank and fill the Air Hog tank with the 44 cu ft bottles, the valves on the 44’s are hard to control on the fill rate, and I keep eating the orings on the fill probe, on my 4th one now.
Dan Mcvey is also sending me out a replacement spring, he says the one I have is not keeping it’s temper,as you and I have discussed.

you might find the accuracy better on low power starting at 3400 psi or so for roundball , or mid power when the pressure gets a bit lower .
i shot some more last night and this morning after cleaning the barrel a bit ,
the lower shots / holes on the first pic are round ball shots 50 yards , then i shot some of the Marvin bullets 145 accurate mold airgun , on the 2 uper group’s , the top holes /one in the second pic is the accurate 145’s , started 2 shots at 3000 psi , then re-filled the gun to 3000psi for 2 more shots for a total of 4 , at the top of the paper , on my scope they seemed to be at that psi 1 mil dot to the left and 1 mil-dot down to center that group correctly ,
the round ball lower shots were groups of 3 shots , with 2 shots in the middle , those were done right after i cleaned the barrel , i don’t think i copensated for the middle lower shots correcly , i should have gone a dot up ,[ when looking directly into the scope at the mil-dots] they shoot a bit high on the opening higher psi shots then drop as the pressure scales down , i have my scope set at about 2600psi roundball dead on , so i have a good mix between high and low pressure ,
then when you shoot a different bullet , you find out where it is grouping and just go over to the corisponding dots to line up the group the particular bullet is hitting , to make it zero out with out adjusting the scope ,

😆 😆 😆 😆 FUN ! FUN ! 😆 😆 what do you think of tha casull 348 😆 cross my/our fingers it works good , those 340’s shoot like a rocket out of our guns on high power 😈 , a great long distance heavy weight bullet
