Q:

Cricket or Edgun POLL

Which do you prefer and why?

I don’t have neither but looking seriously into the Cricket. To me it has all the advantages over Edgun: price, shot count, superior regulator, magazine (that works) and looks. I’m going to wait a few months to see if they come up with a .25 compact. Otherwise I think I will get the .22 tactical standard. I just love the size of the .22 standard. Would prefer the .25 but it’s a little too long for me…

Damn right ! The non-existing customer care, phantom parts availability was the sole reason i left the Club Ed.
And i didn’t like the sub-par finish/fitment either but would’ve overlooked that if there was any support from Ed. None was given so i decided to go the Cricket route. I have not had any
problems with the .25 except those OEM o-rings, which are pure crap.
I can get spares – and have already a collection of some – in a matter of two to three days. Regs, valves, barrels, stocks – you name it.

I’m fully aware that there’s no such thing as a Brand with no lemons but the important thing here is to get things sorted out fast and without any cost to the Customer. That’s the least a buyer is entitled to should something be wrong with the product.

Mr Hemm,

If you go back into the archives….. you will also see a post that was once pinned at the top of the forum. when Tony (edgun) had issues with packing the guns and stocks being broken.

Walk didn’t take it down till tony fixed the shipping issues.

i agree with you that the last Edgun shipment was not like before,,, Eduard and Tony should seriously think of that,,,and i am really shocked why people still saying that Tony was not helpful with them during the R3M arriving ,,,,, this is a shame if your customers have problem and there is no help from the distributor or manufacturer ,,,,, :angrymob: :angrymob:

and i can see the result of this in this thread ,,,, Tony have you seen this Thread ??? do you hear guys here…..

it is shame.,,, people before (go back for the earlier Edgun posts) were proud of their Edguns but now complaining ,,,,, this is a matter that should take it up very very seriously

i am as an Edgun Fan,,,, will ask Edward and Tony to not let be more complicated than this …. we just have a new thread of having indexing problem,,,

now i am an Edgun distributor in my country ,,, i have my first client ,,, i considered all situations mentioned here and ordered 2 more air rod valves and plenty of Extra magazins ,,,,,2 single shot breeches ,,, 10 full set o-rings …. bla bla bla bla ,,,,, i don’t want to repeat this situation here especially in my oily country that everything belong to my hobby is available just like a sand ….

Or, we can say it depends, for someone Cricket and for someone Edgun…. someone has problems with his Cricket and someone has problems with Edgun. ..

And never believe in polls,,, if i act like a child, simply I can create plenty of accounts and vote to either cricket or edgun, ,,
Otherwise, ,, as wing said, thete is a plenty of nice and old stories in this forum,,,,
If you go back you will see the owners were proudly talked about their Edguns in the past.
..

I’d always wanted an Edgun and ended up buying the Cricket. Both are fine airguns but I guess I bought the Cricket because of price and multishot.

Such things do not occur even in poor quality guns.

Of course not. Nor are blown breeches, out of round and out of center parts, cracked stocks nor poorly machined parts, Ed. 😉

I just got my compact Cricket from WWAG and I’m voting Cricket all the way!!!!

btw, for some reason it said invalid form when I tried to vote…but +1 for the Cricket!

I’m not upset one bit Sir Ville, that was my pathetic attempt to retaliate in a polite way & after re-reading my post, I failed miserably, lol…but I didn’t have the proper tools to adjust my regulator & since earnest had such reasonable prices I figured I’d come out better just sending it to him.

I do realize how easy the cricket is to repair, but I’m unsure I could have tuned this rifle as well as he did, he is as good as people say he is…

quote Sir Ville:

If people send theirs to Ernest it´s just because they´re either lazy or dumb as abox of rocks. A three year old can take apart a Cricket-without any parental advisory.

I send guns to Ernest, like you did. Since I have two jobs, no “shop” and Ernest can do things faster and better, it makes sense. Ernest’s polishing rigs are top of the line and he often doesn’t have to wait for parts. He’s an expert and has access to a great indoor range. Plus, it’s a good deal; his prices are very good. Sure, if we can make hot rods (I did, too), we could figure out how to work on these guns. For many, it’s a matter of time, space, tools or desire. If one uses a hand pump, testing becomes a pain. I live in the boonies and use a hand pump, no fill stations nearby and I’m large/fit enough where a hand pump is easy. Our house is tiny, no room for compressor setups (yet). So we all have personal preferences or limitations.

Ville’s point of view is he has the time, tools and knowledge. Besides, it’s too far to ship a gun to Ernest cheaply, even if he wanted to. According to the video, coming from my drones flying around Ville’s house, he works on his guns while he’s hung over in the morning and unable to function in other capacities. This can take a lot of time, especially if the previous night’s beverage was particularly tasty. You should’ve seen the “Credgun” he made by accidently mixing Cricket and Edgun parts; it fired the air tube instead of the pellet. (To his credit, he did kill a bear with that air tube.)

Aside from name-calling, you might find others that strain credulity with their stories, like Hoot  Others, like myself, prefer to keep the conversation polite, focused on information sharing and learning.

About single shot trays: serious target shooters often prefer them to insure pellets line up precisely every time and don’t get minutely deformed if the magazine does not line up perfectly. They can see the pellet enter the breech with a minimum of moving parts. Now, if the pellets have not been sorted, sized carefully, the tray may not line the pellet up precisely, but you can see that if the pellet is way off.

Magazines allow the hunter to keep their eyes on the animal(s) while loading. A second or third animal, startled by the first shot/kill, will often run a short distance and stop if one keeps still-it does not know which way to go. There, the auto mag is faster, easier and requires less motion. Sure, if you don’t have gloves on, you can load a tray without looking, by feel. It will be slower and it will cause you to move more, but the accuracy increases. Personal choices which depend on your use.

Ernest is the best ! No question. What i meant was that both the EdGun and the Bug are ridiculously easy to work on so everyone with little mechanic skills can do it. Fine tuning-on the other hand – is for those more skilled and in the know (like Ernest) and special tools are needed too, like reg. pressure tester etc.
And you´re almost correct about the CredGun : It´s true i managed to get the airtube upto 935 fps but it didn´t kill the Bear: It hit one in the anus and the Bear seemed to like the “anal intruder” so much it didn´t want to part from it without a fight. That´s why i had to kill it , with my bare hands of course , in order to get my airtube back.

@ Sir Ville…I’m simply voicing my opinion, everybody’s got one. I’ve been hunting all my life, my dad was a single shot kind a guy, but not me, I just think it’s old-fashioned with technology the way it has progressed multishot is just much better (even if your punching paper)

I also race cars & back in the 80s my uncles, dad and grandfather all gave me, my brother & my cousins a hard time because we would hop up our race cars with fuel injection they always thought carburetors were better, well they stopped laughing when we started smoking them at the track

I know that’s a bit off-topic but it sort of goes along with my point, I never said that the Matador wasn’t a good gun, I think it’s a great gun and I’m looking forward to owning one, (it will be multi-shot of course)

Sir Ville i’ve enjoyed all of your posts but name-calling on the Internet is cowardly, A six-year-old could do that with the best of us, i’m not trying to be ugly I just think you should respect everyone’s opinion because I certainly respect yours…good day to you sir

Au contraire, my Friend : Name calling on the Internet is an epitome of coolness ! 😯

I never meant to hurt your feelings – it´s just how i play. I´m sorry if i made you feel uncomfortable or/and un-welcome since that wasn´t my intention at all. Just for the record : Here at TAG Bullpup section, when someone calls you an “idiot” you should feel pride and joy. You´ll soon learn what i mean … 😯

I didn’t take any offense to it, I am new to this forum so I was just trying to politely call him a coward, all in fun..he he, but bogman I certainly appreciate your view and professionalism
