My Cricket Bullpup Wood Stock Hack
I’ve been meaning to do this for quite some time now, and I finally have some time to do so.
Stay tune while I hack off some serious weight off this old Pug.
I’ll be posting as I go, thanks for L@@king !
Warning this is and will be a drunken post / thread, please be kind.

Looks very nice and again, Nice wood!
Thanks for the great info Greg. I thought it might be a strength issue. I’ve enjoyed your work and look forward to seeing more!
.
On some factory Cricket BP stocks there is a bolt that runs right through the pistol grip, this is for strengthening.
On the 25 cal it’s used as a 2nd point of attachment to the frame.
You could add this bolt but still not all that sure it’ll be strong enough ?
Tight Bond Mike ……….. it’s a better Elmer’s !

wow good question and good answer, I also have a wood Cricket stock that I am going to work on ,
I also questioned the support handle, I will check for flex as I go ,
Greg if you think there is a chance the handle will break , I will not go that far,
But I am starting with a different stock than you did ,
I did a little wood working in shop class 44 years ago,
My shop teacher was a big fan of elemers Glue

As an expert woodworker, did you have any thoughts on removing the connecting wood between the pistol grip and buttstock?
It’s a gamble to remove the arm bone because the wood grain is horizontal it’s easier to break off the pistol grip without this added support.
I mean you could ….. but also I don’t consider it a BullPup without it, that’s just me though.
I use it as a carring handle all the time …..
Upside down with the muzzle end forwards in my right hand.
Spot a quarry ….. a quick rotate/spin/twirl CW while holding the bone …. catch foregrip with left hand … position right hand to grip and trigger, then to shoulder aim and shoot. :4:

Great post, I appreciate the long term update!

Greg, That’s my problem I got a large trap over it, I forgot it was there..
This is not going to be a project of beauty, More of function .

Buy a tarp, it’s faster ……….
If you pick up a large tin of JSB, that’s about how much excess wood I took off.

Greg,
I am going to be blowing up some pictures of your work of art,
I got to get my Hayabura out of the shop and put it in the garage, I do not want all the wood dust on engine parts.
So I got to get that project out of the way,,

My Cricket stock that I hacked about 2 years ago still survives without a scratch ……

Wow looking good!
I too would love to hack together my own stock. I have some ideas but not enough power tools. Especially a drill press for inletting the action. I’m not about to attempt it by using only hand tools like I’ve seen some do. That’s just crazy.
I have no time to do so Elmer, I have a lot on my plate at the moment.
Thanks for asking, I appreciate it ! 😀
I’m hopping this post brought some interest in seeing another possibility in redesign and work with what one may already have, instead of spending and buying a custom made stock.
I’ve heard so many complaints on this BP stock that it has just to much extra carrying mass everywhere, more so when they discontinued the Skeleton stock. 🙁
I’ve seen also others how posted BP stock mod of there own impressive as well. :winkn:
I’ve also know a lot of owners that step away from the fat and heavy and actually bought a custom replacement stock to replace it.
Since I had 2 wooden BP stocks I though I could have one that has a style that was uniquely mines.
Now I’m thinking I might hack the other one as well, but a slightly different shape of a sort ………… but again, no time.
