.22 LR vs. .22/25 Bp ( of any kind)
There´s been lots of talk whether an airgun in .22/25/30 beats an .22 LR in accuracy to 50,75 and/or 100 meters ( or yards) so i´d like to add a new thread where we can compare group sizing on those aforementioned rifles/distances to get out something more than assumptions and biased quesses out of it. I. myself, have been leaned towards to airguns – at least up to 50m. but i´m no longer all too sure about that. i love my EdGun but when the groups get all that much tighter with my .22 LR i´m beginning to wonder….

It’s just about impossible to get ammo here and can’t buy bulk on the net because they don’t ship air.
Dang, I need to find someone that can buy and ship USPS parcel (land/boat) because that’s gonna be the only way to get some ammo here 😥
I feel your pain Manny. Virtually no such animal here. The .22 ammo simply vanished over night, and has stayed that way. IN TEXAS No Less!!! 😯 😕
Knife
I wonder if it’s very complicated to send you a brick of Norma’s from here…
Coda – .338 Lapua is the one i’m aiming at. Check out Sako TRG 44… Brrrrrr…. And THAT round goes for 6$ a pop!
A marvellous cartridge though.

Just spent 40 bucks in gas going to town and came back without finding one single box of .22 LR 👿

338 or 338 Lapua. 😯
And with a Schmidt & Bender…

Try the Centurion. Shoots well in many of my friends rifles as well – Anschütz´s,CZ´s, 10/22´s and Weihrauch´s – just to name few. Isn´t Colibri that weird, pointed little round with just the primer as a propellant ?? Sounds like fun but like you said one probably doesn´t shoot the group of a lifetime at 100 meters with those … 😀
The -338´s costs around 4.50$ a pop over here. Go thru 500 rounds of those a week and you´ll wonder where did your wife, kids, cars and your house all went while you were at the range. 😯
I do have some Aquila Centurion and it pretty inexpensive here being close to Mexico I guess but I have never tested it. I have a few bricks of Colibri which is fun at 700 fps for the backyard but it isn’t very accurate.
I have TWO 50 round boxes of Eley match and it is fabulous out of my inexpensive Savage heavy barrel 22 with a Bushnell Banner 6-18x scope but too expensive the way I burn ammo. 😳
I can’t believe how quickly I go through 350 and 500 tins of pellets each week. I am slowly creating a lead mine in my backyard.
A 338 draws blood at both ends. 😛 When I was in high school I hunted everything with my Remington 30-06. I also shot a 300 Win Mag quite a bit but that starts to cross the abuse barrier with lots of shots.
That´s what it costs here too – if you pay retail. I get the SK and especially Norma at good price but i pay dearly for Lapua .. 🙄
Haven´t even tested the higher echelon Eley in this rifle. Tested the cheap Eley Sport and i´d been better off throwing the cartridges at the target – POS ammo. I had a case of Aquila Centurion HV (got it ridiculously cheap) and it shot remarkably well – in fact my rifle likes it hot since all HV ammo (except American made other than Aquila but then again the “Centurion” is made in Mexico under a license) shoots really well. I´d like to test some CCI Mini Mags and Green Tags to see how they work. My rifle really refuses all the Federal i´ve tried (that means the “Champion”), hates the Remingtons, laughs at Winchesters and pisses on American Eagles. Oddly enough the hyper vel. CCI Stingers shoot OK being the only US made ammo i´ve managed shoot somewhat respectable groups with. Maybe my Sako is a liberal closet – communist, like our dear Uncle H 😯 😯 T ???
P.S My caliper shows both the stone-age imperial scale and the modern millimeters 😉 6.75mm = a skosh over 1/4 inch.
P.P.S I´m considering a new rifle – a Sako TRG 44 cal. 338 – and it looks like i´ll buy one. You don´t even want to know what those rounds cost over here. I won´t be stocking up by thousands – that´s for sure … 🙄
Nice shooting. Just glad you showed us that in inches(I think its inches 🙂 ) or we wouldn’t understand it. I have 15,000 rounds of the stuff you don’t like. Maybe 2000 rounds is CCI and that is the best I got. They take your right gonad here for match ammo like Eley/Tenex. Eley match is about $14 US for 50. $1330 for 5000.
Test shot the new stock today and it worked well indeed. The pistol grip is kinda angled outwards and it felt a bit odd the first couple of dozen rounds before i got the hang of it but now i understand why it´s angled that way – it puts your trigger hand and finger into most natural position for trigger pull without any twich to it. I adjusted everything to my liking (cheek pad, length of pull and adjusted the buttpad height and had a blast.
Shot this target as the last one using SK Standard Plus. 8 shots/50 meters/ 6.75 mm cc. Shot the way i always do my benching : Bipods but no beanbag or such under the rear stock. I just let the rear stock rest over my left (unbelievably muscular and beautiful) underarm.

Manny – i just got a delivery for a case (5000 rds) of Norma Jaktmatch. I have some 2500 rds of SK Std Plus and around 1500 rds Lapua Midas+ plus a couple of thousand rounds of miscellanous brands i don´t like ( Federal,Remington and Winchester) . No ammo shortage in Europe nor at Casa De Ville ! :8:
This upcoming weekend i´ll do shooting at 100 meters with the ammo my Quad likes the best – Lapua Midas+. I´ll try to keep it inside an inch/10 shots and if i don´t manage that i´ll quit shooting all together.
the trigger linckage on the Muzzlelite stock is pretty bad and makes trigger pull harder than when the rifle is on the Wood stock but still I was able to ge Nickle groups at 30 yards and I only shot a few rounds ( can’t exausts my ammo stock untill they start selling rounds again )
The Pup is pretty cool tho, super light and 30″ overall lenght,
I had to do a couple more MODs to the stock to make it where I like it 🙂
Will post pictures
STOP giving me new ideas! Now i want a BP stock for my Sako, damn it…

I have an old Marlin M1 22 I redid the walnut stock on. I would love to make it into a bullpup.
I just put together my Marlin 60 SS into a bullPup stock.
I’ll show some pictures in a couple of days,
I can shoot subsonics and it still cycles as a semiauto, quiet enought to shoot in my backyard and still has 100 FPE and can get nickle groups at 50 yards.
will start shooting it as a BullPup later today and see how good I do 🙂
ammo avaiability is the problem right now.
ANY Finn with a modicum of self respect will be able drink that much Vodka all by his lonesome. No friends needed to get the room spinning . :6:

How the hell can the most widely used cartridge in the Universe just disappear – in US ?? Unbelievable. Where did that shortage come from and why ? ❓ 😯
P.S KM – i really, really like your knifes. Truly fine pieces indeed.
