.22 LR vs. .22/25 Bp ( of any kind)
There´s been lots of talk whether an airgun in .22/25/30 beats an .22 LR in accuracy to 50,75 and/or 100 meters ( or yards) so i´d like to add a new thread where we can compare group sizing on those aforementioned rifles/distances to get out something more than assumptions and biased quesses out of it. I. myself, have been leaned towards to airguns – at least up to 50m. but i´m no longer all too sure about that. i love my EdGun but when the groups get all that much tighter with my .22 LR i´m beginning to wonder….

I have a Sako Quad Varmint/Range with heavy barrel. Ridiculously accurate rifle . No need for Match ammo either. It shoots fine with a variety of middle-of-the road ammo. I get 8mm cc groups at 50 meters/5 shots. Repeatable ones.Never been quite able to do that with my Edgun .
With subsonic ammo and a moderator it’s as quiet as my Edgun -if not even more quiet.
Have friends with Annie´s, CZ´s,Krico´s, Weihrauch´s,other kinds of Sako´s,Ruger´s, Remington´s and what-not so now i only need to get them to try to put some serious groups – if they´re able to – so we can see what gives.
BTW – I actually saw Stinkfist´s FX Indy yesterday and since i was having a hangover of my life i threw up like a girl. Yes – it´s that ugly … 😀
We were at crowhunt and even the crows stayed far away from it.
You mean like against an Anschutz M-164 or a Remington 40-X with match Eley or Tenex ammo? Don’t bet the farm son. 😯
With a bull barreled 10/22 running same scope at 20x I can hit same amount of 22 shells set up at 100yds as with either Edgun.
Paper punched groups are practically identical. I’m biggest variable.
For me its a tie accuracy wise. Noise on the other hand is a different story.
The modded shroud 25 with its extra fpe over 22 version has become my go to for small game. Plus it’s way cheaper to shoot than 22lr

We need real opinions here! You need to have experience on both to be able to compare so assumptions and questimates won´t do.

You have the new Sako Quad Range? I heard Beretta stopped importing the Quads here so they are hard too hard to get for us. CZ makes some real tack drivers, though, and they are all over the place. I hope they add the 17 WSM soon to the 455s. Our other good choices are Cooper, Anschutz, and Kimber. Ruger 10/22s are completely worthless stock in the accuracy department (I used to sight in 10/22s at our range (over 100 of them) since it was the recommended gun for new young shooters but folks don’t realize how horribly they shoot out of the box) but the Volquartsen upgrades make them into formidable target shooters.
