.22 short shooters?
Hey guys,
I have about 1K invested on my 10/22 and I don’t use it. I want to convert it to .22 short with a kit from Volquartzen. My question is on ammo. The only rounds I’ve shot are CCI CB’s that go about 730fps, now Ive seen shorts that say anywhere from that to 1100. I want a nice quiet round that I could shoot all day like the CB’s at 730fps. Any suggestions, yes I would like more power, but not at the price of pissing people off.
How can they get a short to fire at over 1000fps when the bullet weighs the same as the CB bullet? Or could it be marked on the website as Short when its actually LR.
I did see some CCI’s that go 830fps which I may buy because I cant imagine they are too much louder, but could be wrong.
The weight on most I’ve found, if curious, is about 29gr.

A M the cb has no powder if i remember right they get there power from the primer , and the short does have. and the shorts that i have shot break the sound barrier or are just barely starting to . they are a little loud in a rifle ,way to loud in a pistol.
Also the standard long rifle is 1 in 16 ” twist and wont be optimal for the 29 grain bullet. The original 22 cb and short rifles came out with 1 in 22” barrels on them.
I would most definitely shoot allot of the shorts or what ever you want to use before converting your gun, to make sure the accuracy will be acceptable for you. i have never had any of my rim fires shoot cb caps Worth a darn, minute of can but nothing else.
