Air Arms Rifles: Which one do you have experience with
I have noticed that many own AA rifles, or have experience with them. Which one do you own, (Rob probably has a safe dedicated to AA airguns 😀 ). The XTRA FAC has great stats but it is so long at 44 inches. The carbine is sexy at 35″ and 5 lbs.. The Classic is a good compromise but is louder. So, if you don’t mind me asking, which do you own, or have owned, and what do you think of it? Also what do you do with it? (Look at it, hunt, target, etc..)
Thanks for the input.

I am glad that I started this thread. You guys have added many other nice airguns to the list. The pictures and opinions are great. Thanks! If anyone else has an AA, or something else, please share. 😀
How about the FX Cyclone? Just got one of these, still haven’t had time to shoot it much, but so far, I’d say it’s slightly quieter than my S400E and just as accurate. VERY light, even with a Simmons 44 Mag on it it’s only about 6.5 lbs. Good balance, shoulders nice, haven’t done any chrony strings yet but shot count seems to be somewhere between good and outstanding. Length is about the same as a Classic. Here’s a pic from the previous owner, haven’t had a chance to take any of my own yet:

I just got a Legend 5-15 for it, again, no time to try it yet, hopefully tomorrow. All that said, I think this will make a great hunter/general field gun, but I think I LIKE the S400 better. Bear in mind, this is all first impression, last night was my first real shooting session with it, and no time today. Later.

Were just having some fun on a slow night.. I am so broke right now I am thinking about selling one of my three PCP’s and I want to cry a bit..The only reason I don’t sell the HW100T is because I gave it to my 12 year old Son my friend.. it is a heck of a shooter though.. Want to by a Condor ??
Maybe 😳
Jealous!
There used to be 3 factors that detered me from getting a HW100 in the past :
1. Heavy ie. 8.5 lb before a scope is added.
2. Loud (no shroud available and LDC makes the long barrel even longer).
3. No refill probe, have to remove the tank for refill and I heard that the aluminum connection parts was not durable i.e. expensive repair.
I know HW has fixed the 3rd item. How do you feel about the other two ?
Cheers
4. The stocks look very square, like a slightly modified 2×4

!. The EV-2 is heavier
2. My gun is only 2 inches longer with a very quiet moderator
3. My gun has a quick fill
And other negatives while you are on a role my friend
Dadwilson, another cool rig. 8)

The Super-10 looks like a nice gun, but I’ve never heard a thing about them.
What about the HW 100. I hear it accurate!
WOW Ice. That last one pictured is fantastic!

Here is my HW100T .177 and I can honestly say that his gun is darn near as accurate as my EV-2. I swear that if this gun had a match grade trigger such as the EV-2 does is would be mark on spot. It shoot as about 980 fps at 23 fps with JSB 10.2’s and sub .50 groups at 35 yd with the forestock rested is not uncommon at all. I can only say good about the gun and if you can find one grab it. It will shoot as good as any AA 4xx I bet ya…

If I were to buy another high end PCP it would be a HW100, Falcon or AA.
Currently Rapids quality and features vs. Price point is a not equal. If you want to spend $2000 on an airgun buy a Daystate from Pomona Airguns.
Your money will get you more with the others mentioned.
Has anyone though about neatly chopping the end of the shroud off, about 1″ past the end of the barrel? You could then make a detachable shroud. When you are hunting you have a loud but compact rig, when you are plinking you have a long but quite one. Just a thought.

[quote=”SteveinLA”Is barrell swapping something that can be done in the garage, or does it take an airgun smith to do that? [/quote]
No problem with doing it youself……the o-rings on barrel needs special attention as it’s easy to damage and accuracy would suffer. Probably better to do the cylinder swop, but with an extra fac there are no longer cylinders available so the barrel change is the only option.
Cheers.
