Q:

Damn, but I’m good.

I made a revision to my valve design. Knocked out the body a few days ago, got the stem done today.

It glides in the body like silk, yet when I suck on it it pulls the stem up, and I cannot blow air past it. No o-ring required.

I am a lathing and milling god. Anyone want to buy one? I fancy a holiday in Argentina.

😯 😆

It wasn’t my shroud that killed him, it was the trigger finger of the dip shit that was shooting someone and forgot to tighten the grub 😆

I certainly hope no one is questioning the credability of GTBJ here. I stand up for him any day of the week. He has offered help and advise here never looking for anything in return. I will say If GTBJ says the valve is good I am next in line.

Another thing is bore sharp ridges for the sleeve to bit into for a better purchase.
There is a lot of force against it on firing esp if the breech pressure stays high for any length of time as in choked flow…. small bores..

Another thought is an oring seal in deeper would remove the pressure that wants to spit out the sleeve….

All in all nicely made bits. I’m thinking to make me up a set or two 🙂

Walter….

Yeah, Pablo mentioned roughing-up the mating surfaces to give a better grip. But I’m definitely going to try a Delrin head first. The other problem with a steel head in a nylon sleeve is the tolerance has to be incredibly precise such that the head stays in the sleeve when it’s being pulled by the breech during re-cocking, but not so tight that it can’t be pulled out in a hurry. *cough*. 😆 Then it wears pretty quickly and becomes too loose anyway. I’m hoping the Delrin head will fare better.

Do you use a press to install the nylon sleeve? If you make it a hair bigger and use a press fit, it will not move.

I use a hammer, and it’s that tight it skins a fine layer off the sleeve as it goes in. I don’t reckon it could go much tighter than that.

Making the heads out of Delrin will be a major advantage, so I hope that idea works out.

knowing all that you know you would know that when the skin is shaved off that piece you lose teh interference fit you were attempting to get.
relieve the entrance to the bore for about 0.030″ to full on size diameter then press the bush home. It will not shave the Delrin if you do it right.
but knowing all that you know you would know that.

That sounds feasible, knowing what I know about interference fitting. Which, luckily, is bugger-all, otherwise I wouldn’t have needed to have the idea about Delrin heads, which promises much goodness.

Thanks for the info though, I shall plunder it shamelessly if the Delrin heads don’t work out.

Does nylon contract when frozen?

Sorry Rob, I wasn’t ignoring you, there were a few such requests/comments but I didn’t much take them seriously, for a variety of reasons, which I’ll do you the courtesy of listing lest you think I was disrespecting you…

a) The current exchange-rate. £100 in $ would sting.
b) TAG piss-taking.
c) Didn’t think a US shooter would need a valve with a quick-change head.
d) Not had a chance to give this design a long-term battering to make sure it’ll stand up. No reason I can see why it won’t, but I wouldn’t want to fulfil YN’s prediction.

It’s not perfected either. The nylon sleeve is jumping out into the 1mm gap between the head and the valve-body, so I’m going to make a head out of Delrin and drop the sleeve. It’s the first one that’s done it, but it’s clearly a weak-point and Delrin appeals anyway. If that works it’ll also mean I’ll be able to supply a range of heads inclusive of the overall price of £100 (wasn’t going to happen if I’d be making them all from steel).

If you really want one at that price you’re more than welcome. I’ve just ordered the Delrin in the dia I need so it’ll be a few days until I can test.

or painting your gun up like you were a 12 year old girl, that type of stuff is fair game and should be expected 😉

hahah…. I remember that… who was that? Pin striping job on the Talon…. 😆 😆 😆

I don’t get it, If I’m to test and review something that is all it would be, even if it was complete shit and fell apart on the first shot that is what I would report. I would never poke fun at something like that, now your choice in hair cuts, wearing a pink net shirt that says you swallow, or painting your gun up like you were a 12 year old girl, that type of stuff is fair game and should be expected 😉

I’m wondering if the whole thing is just a crock of shit or if you just dont want to sell to a yank.

I wanted to buy one of your valves. I didnt ask, nor imply that I wanted to ‘test’ out anything. You offered a product that looked interesting to me and I politely asked if you would get with me regarding me purchasing one. I’ve gotten no response.

So either…

1. You dont wish to sell to me
2. You dont have a product to sell
3. You simply overlooked my request

I’ll take one along to Blod’s party if he’s interested and let him have a look, just for shits and giggles. Let the valve-master evaluate it.

so what are you saying…. like that I’m not honest or wouldn’t give it an unbiassed review?

I can assure you I’m that chump that gets a $10 bill in change when it’s so pose to be a $1 and gives it back so the cashers till wont be short. as in I’m too honest for my own good.

That’s not being too honest for your own good, that’s looking after your own. Shit, beginning of last year I handed back nearly £1000 in Japanese Yen that the poor bint at the post-office had over-given me when I was sorting out spending money for my wife’s trip to Japan. If it had been out of an ATM I’d have kept the fucking lot. 😆

No, I’m sure you’re as likely to be honest as dis-honest, but this isn’t about honesty, it’s about ‘you lot’ having a laugh and a joke and taking the piss in some kind of TAG-cliquey way. I’d expect to see my valve rigged up on a crossbow or something, with a bunch of ribald put-downs in the caption. 😆
