Q:

Damn, but I’m good.

I made a revision to my valve design. Knocked out the body a few days ago, got the stem done today.

It glides in the body like silk, yet when I suck on it it pulls the stem up, and I cannot blow air past it. No o-ring required.

I am a lathing and milling god. Anyone want to buy one? I fancy a holiday in Argentina.

Lang…

If you are making such valves, please get with me offline regarding one.

Pab….

What kind of shot count are you getting at 11.5fpe?

I remember you telling me about this awhile ago Lang, Must of been the Mark 1 version Pab was talking about. Where’s the pics 😉

I’m using an early Lang valve with interchangeable heads.. 8)

Works a flippin’ treat. 😀

I can go from 11.5 fpe right up to 50 fpe .
If I’m out on the farm hunting, I use full power, but in 5 secs flat I can have any power below that I want ( I go to H&N FTT at 20 fpe for pidgeons or 11.6fpe for plinking)
If I can get Lang to make me more heads, I’d have even more power choices 😀 The beauty with his design is that to change power takes all of a few secs, and you get bang on consistancy at that new power. Gives one alot of choices 😀 😀

I’ve tried telling him that you guys would be interested, but he reckons not…??

GTBJ, I’ll get me hands on one of the new valves and get it to you for testing…. 😉

see lang there’s all kinds of interest for the us market, send one of those things out for a honest real world evaluation, or is it all just pucky?

Pucky? I’m just about to go out and finish the last bit (the head) on the current build. I’ll post some pics soon as I’m done fettling it.

YN, the valve isn’t illegal in and of itself, it’s illegal only if it’s fitted on the rifle such that a test by the police puts a pellet out above the limit. Blod would be in some serious trouble otherwise.

quote WalkonKing:

I have an airgun that gets 76 fpe and it is the least shot of any I own.

A low power valve with interchangeable heads would be very useful for those who shoot in their back yard as well as take the same gun out to the field.

BTW I thought Blod’s valve had interchangeable inserts to also vary power. Does he not make it like that any more?

Low power valve with interchangeable heads…. I’d be all over that like a hillbilly on a possum…. 8)

Really…. someone make something like, please let me know. Would be very, very interested.

Seems strange to exclude a population about 5 times larger than the one your targeting because you don’t think they will see a need for it. Your reasoning that we are unlimited in power makes the potential market here even greater – certainly many times greater than the number of UK non FAC air gunners who are going to by chance be going to another country and taking their gun with them (and where do you suppose they put the valve when they return home, or is it disposable?)

In today’s world selling to another country is just as easy as selling it to someone in the neighboring town.

Guys will pay good money for an aluminum cocking handle for no reason other than its “custom”… There is a market for valves.

quote Jerry:

Ultra-fine precision is a joy to behold and an even finer joy to create. There is one potential problem though: fouling. I once had a rifle with a bolt that was machined to a very close tolerance. A bit of something got in the gap between the bolt and the bore it rides in and made a difficult to clear jam. All ended well but it was a bother for a bit.

Can the valve be well protected from fine debris? Maybe a looser fit and a forgiving o-ring would be a better solution for a field rifle?

That’s a very sound observation.

Yes Knifemaker, I know where Blod is at, I’ve been to visit him at his home. His valve is the bollocks (that means ‘very good’), but it has the problem of incurring a prison sentence if found on a rifle belonging to somebody who does not have a FAC licence. Such a person, however, might be going to countries where the full-power rifle is permitted. In such a case he’d have to own two valves, low-power for the UK and high-power for abroad. Not only is that an additional expense, it’s also a pain in the arse.

My design has an interchangeable head, which can be swapped in seconds, without the need to remove the bottle from the rifle. I’ve tested both heads at varying PSI and the low-power head gives no more than 11fpe.

I can see no reason why anyone in the USA would need that facility, given the availibility of the power-adjustable Condor and no legal limit.

Turns out the Langnasen is German for long noses.

Figures! 😆

You do know the Blod is in the UK don’t you? 😆

Cygnusx has a video of a vacuum fit part he made – very nice when you get that.

how come we have never seen a review of your stuff? I always thought you were only making things for you and your bro. as far as the us market covered, we all like choices now don’t we, if that thing is as bad assed you you claim then let me be the judge of it and let the people know?
I can usher you it will be an honest review and it’s perfectly legal over here to make as much power as posable.
