Q:

Developing a 1 piece stock … Done !

Looking to add some rigidity to the Talon frame I started looking at one piece laminated stocks. Wanting my own signature on the look I have been making scale drawings and have my first piece of wood cut.

I have been wanting a long range hunting rifle with a one piece stock for a long time now … this is what I have so far 🙂

Power tools & firearms, now If we can only get Vhag to start posting more pictures of those girls for the trifecta.

What kind of “machined parts” are you putting on a stock?

Girls Girls Girls 😀

The machined parts are still just drawings and if I super impose the 6 layers I have completed it looks like a high tech can opener right now 😆

I have a lot of simplification to do on it before I get any further along.

New saw has to reside in my hobby room for now .. next spring I am having an outdoor shop built on my place.

Original one piece stock design is still on just delayed a bit … working on all of the features and lining up machined parts for this project. Stock has a name finally … my Wife picked it out so I am obliged to use it for safety reasons 😆

The Talon FT Tactical Stock

Sound interesting ? We’ll see if I can deliver on the completed design 🙄 😕

For dealing with these one piece laminated stocks I had to upgrade my power saw which had a 4 inch throat on it to one with a 6.25″ throat. New saw has computer controlled balancing and loads of power. I am real happy with it and can’t wait to use this sucker.

It even has a device included that bores .45 caliber holes accurately clear out to 50 yards or so ! Now that’s a full featured saw right there 😀

I bought 4 of those black/gray laminated blanks and they should be here this week.

This purple saphire stock is no longer my own as my Dad decided that he wanted my Compact .25 project gun with this purple stock on it.

So it’s going to be finished in a shape that he has in mind and not what I was planning. I’m not sure what it is going to look like when completed as I went from the designer to the custom order taker in 5 seconds flat 😆

Looks like it’s shaping up pretty good. I think that black & gray laminate would fit in well around here. 😀

Thanks Head ! 😆

I think I’ll order in a couple of those blanks .. can always coat them with bedliner lol’s.

Check your e-mail my Father is taking over my Compact .25 now 😯

I think it maybe easier to buy an Airsoft LAR Grizzly and and zip tie the grip frame to your gun. 😀
Looks like it’s coming along pretty good.

Lol’s .. I have nothing but time on my hands and want to create some originals stocks on my own. This time I left a lot of thickness in the grip area so I could have a raised thumbrest and trigger finger shelf.

There is a lot of detail work left to do in the pics above .. but I am making progress. I trimmed the blank back as far as I could with the bandsaw I have … need to upgrade mine to a 14″ model … will have to do the rest of the stock trimming the old fashioned way with hand tools.

Here is that Black/Gray laminate I mentioned.

Update on my progress so far .. want to show the stages as I go along for those that want to take on this project at home.

Someone requested that I make a line of these in a “tactical” version for the airforce rifles and maybe use bedliner for a coating with regular wood underneath.

The advantage of the laminate is that it is super stiff and will add rigidity to the rifles frame so even if I did use a spray on bedliner for the finish I want that strong laminated wood underneath for the structure.

Another choice is to use the Black/Gray laminate stock blanks that are available .. that would look stealthish I think and I could put on a durable hand rubbed finish rather than a coating of bedliner.

Have to finish this one first and get everyones input 🙂

that rabbit doesnt run he makes gorgeous stocks

thanks mate that one was for a theoben rapid .
most off the stuff i,m doing the now is for rapids
and most off it is american black walnut but as
i said to u earlyer i would love to get a hold off some
