Q:

Developing a 1 piece stock … Done !

Looking to add some rigidity to the Talon frame I started looking at one piece laminated stocks. Wanting my own signature on the look I have been making scale drawings and have my first piece of wood cut.

I have been wanting a long range hunting rifle with a one piece stock for a long time now … this is what I have so far 🙂

Beautiful just Beautiful ! That is quality work right there congrats Man !

spend spend spend mate it,s always the same .fun tho
last big spend i had was £500 for a few bits off american black walnut
one off the blanks made this stock

You are right on the money too … it takes a lot of labor to build this stuff and make it right … and if I charged 10 dollars an hour for my labor the costs on a set of grips would be around 300 bucks.

So I look at it as furthering my hobby and think that $ 125.00 for a 2 piece set is fair. I’m gonna have to complete a 1 piece before I think about pricing on those … have to see what all I need to buy first 🙄

ye i upgraded a few things but after the woods and stuff started to right up in price the stocks price,s need to go up but i cany put myself to do it

as i always say it,s only a hobby so chargeing alot ain,t right

I guess it’s all part of paying our dues lol’s … I’m looking to upgrade all of my scopes and pick up some pellet money .. but I am going to have to invest in the machines if I wanna play 😆

That’s good news .. it looked well built and has computerized stability control .. mine shakes some on thick cuts causing me more work in the finishing process.

I don’t mind buying tools .. I HATE having to buy them AGAIN 😆

Yep-
I went to the wood show about 3 years ago looking for a Power-matic.
Ended up with the Jet 17″ saw just like this one, but an inch smaller 😥

$700.00 out the door.
Too bad I have not the room for it, that is til I move 😉 😉
The Delta line is not that bad at all, and you will be happy with it for sure.
I would bet that Delta and Powematic would be a pretty close call.

Whew a grand for that sucker … can’t do that this month …. might have to lean on that Delta 😆

Thanks Saw !

I’ll take a look at those ! I like to buy quality when I can …

king pin,
I have a 17″jet, got it at the wood show, what I really wanted was the power-matic 14″.
They are sweet 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

Probablly 1.5 times the Delta, but worth it.
If you really want a good tool the Laguna line is the rats ass 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

totally awesome stocks. when can we place an order. 😀 🙂 😆

This one piece has a ways to go and I am going to have to upgrade my bandsaw from a 9 inch to a 14 inch before I can finish it.

I went over and looked at a new Delta with a 6.25 inch throat clearance this afternoon … 3/4 hp .. want to read the online reviews first … if it’s a good one then this project will move along rather quickly 🙂

Looks great so far. I think I may have a go at one my self if i ever get the time.

There ya go ! Make some drawings using your rifle for measurements and then transfer that to wood and get to hacking away at it 😀
