Dr. Steele’s Cricket finds a new owner this evening
Well, I’m gonna give that favorite little Edgun shorty some compact company as I got a hold of Steve again this evening and was able to purchase a special little used Cricket Compact Skeleton Stock in .22 just as I was wanting.
I feel fortunate in that this is a used gun with some nice tuning work from Ernest and has both the original and a N.C. moderator with an optional extension and was the gun previously belonging to the late Dr. Steel here on our forum. I have to say I am a bit sentimental and would much rather have this gun than a new one, it will always seem special to me. Rest in Peace brother, your gun will be in caring hands, enjoyed as you would have wanted and well kept in pristine condition and I will be honored to look after it for you.
Steve is as nice and good to deal with as everyone says !! Two thumbs up !!

Thanks for the info Mike, I’ll give it a try and if I don’t like it within 30 days I could always send it back to Amazon or resale on the Yellow. I’ve seen a few for sale for cost but they usually lose out on the shipping. Not a big deal. What are you shooting these days?
If it did work, it wouldn’t be an adjustable paralax scope in the first place.
You have to realize, that Paralax adjustment is NOT for focus only. It is to set the paralex. Where the cross hair does not move in relation to the target in relation to the eye when not perfectly centered. Yes, it does focus to an extent. But that is NOT waht it is for.
For what ever reason. when scope manufactures moved the paralex adjustment from the front to the side, they changed the name from paralex adjustment to side focus, and this has been confusing shooters ever since. šæ
You are a descerning shooter. I dont’ think you are going to like the optics of the bug buster at all. but they are easy to re-sale. I have only looked thru a few, but I can tell you that they have some of the worst optics I have ever seen offere for sale in a scope costing over 25 dollars. Sorry. I don’t want to run down your purchace, but they areally are that bad. š

Nope, it won’t Donny. Infinety ususlly is 500 and beyond. But probably not on a BB scope.

Yup ordered my bug buster this morning. Can’t beat the price, comes with Quick disconnect rings, scope covers and sunshade for $92 plus free second day shipping. I’ve been eye balling it for quiet some time, I want to do more off hand shooting in the backyard so it’ll be perfect with the 3 yd parallax adjustment to infinity. Downside is the parallax adjustment is in the front of the scope.
If you put the parallax to infinity would the view be clear for all yardage or only anything past 100 yds?
I have a myriad of scope selection to move on to the BC (Baby Cricket) w/o buying anything at this point. It doesn’t need 8-32x but 6.5-20x is a possibility. š
I honestly think itĀ“s an underrated scope in a class of scopes it belongs. Who cares if that class is called CCC – Cheap Chinese Crap. It just may be the ultimate backyard, bug buster of a scope.
Ernst, Would you share this same info for the 22 compact I have coming.
I am sure it is out there already but I am wore out with searching, studying and reading right now. This scope deal is about to get me down… I have a big stock of more than 15000 18.1 grain Ed’s pellets and JSB red/black sticker tins I am hoping it will like.
SirVille: I am now considering fixed power scopes to meet my goals of small, lite weight good glass and reasonable price. ?? We’ll see…..
I like BB scope, it focused down to 6ft and actually can shot bugs—mostly flies. but wish it has smaller mil dots!

Muchas Grazias ! That“s great news. I need to test how it likes the 14 gr pellets as well but i quess the 10 grainers are the best choice for it anyway. The barrel being shortish at 390 mm and all. Thanks again, Ernest !!
How many shots is to be expected / fill ??
at 220b fill down to 115b got 100 shots 12fps ES
I think Donny said he just ordered one up for close shooting around the yard.
I“ll start with a Bug Buster since i have one laying around somewhere among other useless crap (Hawke :winkn: ) scopes. I actually like the BB : Not the brightest optics, not the best reticule nor the fanciest turrets but it does what it“s supposed to do in a compact package. Will do as a backyard scope for the Compact until i decide which way to go. I need to call to Georg at Astro Sweden and let him sell me a lightweight, powerful ,compact scope with good optics and a price tag i“m willing to look at without having to feel quilty.
I’ll tighten up them threads a bit if that is the case and see how it does before I hose up the baby Cricket.
I did like the looks of the CF shrouds and will think about that. The scope decision is the toughest for me.
I used the Combro yesterday to tweak the ,22 Cricket back to 900 fps with the all-metal valve. No scope adjustment was needed. I also finally put one of those Finnish HS adjustors on and plan on putting the other on the baby Cricket.
Good! Do yourself a favor and put a little PTFE tape over them threads on the Brass part of the adjuster – or actually itĀ“s only needed if it wants to move while firing. Keep an eye on that. The Mk II is better – the plastic part is shorter while the brass spring guide is much longer.
Yes – I will shoot it a while first and do the basic tweaking. That’s the fun part. :biggrinn:
Please shot the heck out of it, out of the box–the cocking could be rough ——-> cocking plate need to honed, the trigger 2 stage is to long—-adjust screw under the leaf spring. now continue waiting.
Thank You, oh Cricket Guru of the TAG !

Ok guys, I have been through the ringer studying on this scope deal for Shanu’s gun. He went through it before me and I am coming to almost the same conclusion. I want close in focus, under 18 to 20 oz. nice glass, short so it looks nice on the gun. I think I have made the decision to order this scope and want the TAG’s feedback before dropping the money on this scope. I know Leupolds are not good enough for some of you guys but this particular model has the whole list covered. Focuses close in, weight = 17.3 oz. !! that is big to me, nice glass, compact to fit well on the gun. I need to study reticle options and see if they have a side focus option in a near by model with similar specs, but I am real close…
