Q:

Just ordered a Short one

From Tony, it should arrive in 2 weeks or so after he test shoots it.

I can’t wait, in the mean time what to crown the little one with, a Bug buster ?

I use a sneaky case…

Soft Case recommendations?

I tested the 16 grain JSB at everything from 930 down to 750 on an EDgun once. I found that the BC was actually higher in the low to mid 800s than it was at 930. I set my Mutant at 815 also with the 16s and have had great results. I can hit pigeons at 150 yards pretty easily with the 16s in the mutant. The problem is the energy. It’s just enough to wound them. So I keep to 100 yards or less for killing critters with the 16s at that speed.

Always a very cool replay from u Sir with great info too …………

I personally don’t like to pest beyond 80-100 yards or so ……….. not knowing the probability of an near miss kill zone fpe dispense.
Not at my prime anymore to have to run out to my quarry to put it out of it’s misery after it hinds behind something … crap can happenings.

I found some old JSB 18g old gray tins that is superb at 820 fps in my Shorty/ Dman’s barrel superbia, but it barks like a bitch-in-heat ! :banghead:
I may need to design an Off Set moderator/LDC just for that lot/batch …. lol …… maybe when time it permits me to do so Sir.

Same thing happened to me. Took off the scope. Disassembled the rifle. Reassemble and it held zero! Built like a tank. Maybe it’s just me but this gun seems like it got quieter over the last 1000 shots. Maybe I just like it too much.

Yes it solid alright ……….. no POI shifting issues also with that sturdy frame.

Seems it gets louder for me when I push the 16g to 820ish and higher.
At 810 fps it’s quite quiet enough that it doesn’t need an added LDC.

very good groups 🙂

16gr @ 805fps ?

did you change reg setting ?

Thanks Mughram,

About 810ish with the 16g the 18g I’m not sure I just kept turning the HST in until the POI got close to zero.

No I kept the factory setting on the reg @ 146 bar just replaced the O-rings, gave it a good cleaning and a re-lube.

While I’m trying to seat in my newly rebuild reg I shot these 12 shot groups @ 50 yards in early morning, no wind …..

First is with JSB 16g, second with 18g and last with 16g a different lot/batch is .25″ ctc.
Mine seems to like both 16 & 18g the best depending on the lot/batches it’s a toss-up could go either way ………

Added note after I took my Shorty to bits then reassemble it and reattached it’s scope, it didn’t lose it’s zero !!

Those are some damn nice looking regulators. Like I have always said the stock isn’t much to look at but the metal work is exceptional on these mutants.

hehe, ya but I don’t think it’s that bad after awhile anyway it starts to look better after a couple of :18: just like a …… never mind. 😆

I see that you made another eccentric LDC for your Cricket in the background. Is it more effective?

Also, is that one of dman’s reg tester?

ah, you notice yes it is but it’s still experimental on the Cricket I’m still tuning it back/shorter ………. to reduce the diminishing return on the total volume.

My Edgun std 22 is about finished, here take a look see ……….. with a length of 8″ but no added OAL to the gun. 😯

Yes, that’s a Dman reg tester (a thing of beauty it is) I wrapped mines with an old bicycle tube helps to resist slipping within a working silicone fill environment.

Greg it must be cleaning time lol

I just snapped this pic yesterday

Looks like you gotta flip the 2nd one in from end…

Starting at end. )()()()()()()()()()

You can try any pressure you like but me and ernest both found that these prefer the higher regulator pressures

Cool Dman, Endo pic he posted looked iffy to me like it might have slipped off, thanks for the conformation and reg high pressure option !

very nice results

as for barrel choke will lower the velocity that’s from what i know

also the reg i remember i asked Ernest when uses the mutant standard he says

The mutant reg is consistent at 125b and above

i will make reg tests for myself later just for my curiosity 🙂

Thanks Mughram,

This is the first crony after my rebuilding the reg set at factory 146 bar, I’m using A 70’s O-rings instead of the urethane ones to see if it helped with improving the SD.
I’m guessing I can live with this for awhile and see if it improves before trying lower reg pressures.
