Looks like all the MAX buyers are back to square one
Looking at the posts over on the Yellow, seems it took all of an hour for the first new Evanix Max user to figure that the recurrent problems with the Speed also plague the new MAX as well. Sad part was that every MAX post couldn’t be done without bashing on the EDgun.
Even when it was pointed out again and again that it was too heavy, had Lego like look, and was totally unproven. It was gonna be the EDgun killer, now they’re all waiting on return labels.
Oh well, says something about buying proven quality and performance and not a bunch of hype. Think I’ll go another round this morning with my EDgun and do some more 1/2 inch groups at 50 yards….yawn.

Yeah RC, that’s my point and I have NEVER been all fruited up on OCDing out on Chrony strings, hand sorting pellets and getting my asshole all tight measuring CTC on paper
that crap just takes every bit of the fun out of shooting for me…
you are spot on regarding folks being spoiled by other highend gear, particularly bottle guns…there is simply NO WAY anyone is going to get 40 full power shots out of the MAX. There is the possibility of installing a custom regulator in the MAX but to what end I am not at all certain.
the doubling issue seems to be affecting only a very small number of rifles but with a long history of experience with full auto firearms I can state doubling is a common event with them, particularly those with open bolt breech systems.
as I stated from the start these guns are fusion designs but that fusion was greater than I expected. Basically they are electrically driven open bolt breeches with a hybrid trigger group that is primarily mechanical with a spring driven rotary hammer like an Edgun with switching for the bolt drive motor
as such I still have reservations regarding long term endurance of particularly the switching component.
there are as well things that are plainly stupid
positioning of the gauge
having the trigger linkage scraping alongside the stock bolt
the battery layout with no on-board charging port
but it is what is 😉
When I compare my Royle 500 carbine to a Max or Speed, it is not the Korean guns that are the problem, it is the Royale and that type of gun.
It is because that is the standard these folks are looking to in comparing the shot string and shooters have been spoiled by long consistant shot strings and think all guns must have one.
That and they are comparing how the Koreans use o air with the rest of the world, and when you do that there is a huge difference in what a bottle gun or regulated tube gun does with its air compared to what a Korean tube gun with power does with its’ air.
And the Max and the Speeds, like I pointed out in my Yellow post on them, are tube guns and the Royale Daystate et al are Bottle guns.
There is no way a tube gun that is unregulated making 60 FPE will match a bottle gun making 45 FPE. Not to mention that the Korean guns from what I have always read, have a velocity string that goes straight downhill when they are making that power.
I mean really, how many shots did the Rainstorm get, what was that string like? And people loved and accepted that Rainstorm.
And before you say the Edgun will match it, remember the Edgun is a regulated rifle.
But you use it for what it is, the bottles and cans that RS strafes could care less if the first one in the line got hit with 985 FPS and the last at 885 FPS, and that is what the main bitch on the Yellow was about.
Most of these guns I would think will be bought for that full auto function despite whether the rest of the air gun community likes it or not.
One the other side of the coin is the Hawaiian pig hunter Manny or Nomaticpirate, he bought one for that quick follow up shot and to do it wiith power, he could care less that it is a full auto, and for him, that will be the perfect gun.
For the guy who takes his chrony to the range to shoot paper and see how long of a shot string it gets, which I just really don’t understand the why once you have done it once, and we have minions of them on this site, it will not be a good gun for them.
The magazine issue will be worked thru, the big thing will be to see if the batteries, electrical and mechanical components hold up.
Me personally, if I got one it would be the Conquest if it proves to be a accurate rifle, and I would shoot it tethered from the bench like a carneval gun 😛 , or I would refill it often while hunting to keep the zero on for longer ranges. I have two AF rifles set up for power so that is something I am used to, not to mention the Ranger 45 which heals the ozone layer with gigantic blast of air when it goes off..
Right now I am more interested in RS shooting the gun and what his assements on the electrical/mechanical long tern endurance issues are.
As far as the full auto function and whether it is needed, if you don’t like it, I have the perfect solution, don’t buy one.

I am one of those that does tend to piss a bit about products, particularly when the Fan bois are pimping wares they don’t own…hell likely have never even held muchless shot
the MAX isn’t, will never be close to an Edgun
then again the inverse is also true
the Edgun is a Lotus Elise, the MAX is more like my 2011 Hemi Challenger RT and to be frank, I enjoy the RT a bit more than I did the Elise I owned
thats not to say I don’t love my Edgun just that the MAX is more fun for my informal style of shooting
that could, likely will change some if Ed gets a semi .25 breech out for sale 😉
Riverside,
Some people just love to bitch and moan…. I’m really looking forward to more pictures and more info when you get the time. Thanks.

Well I am out on the left coast for a few more days but a few points of order…
for me “heavy” is a subjective thing and as I noted eight pounds is nothing in the world of firearms
as far as the full auto being unusable, thats extremely subjective, even Brad admits it is likely his technique. Folks need to STOP comparing these things to Edguns or even an FX500…completely different tools
it’s like comparing a select fire American 180 .22LR machinegun to a damn Anchuetz .22LR match target rifle…just a foolish and stupid comparison.
of course the match target rifle performs differently…sheesh!
not ran mine over a chrony yet but no matter what one is likely to get a bit of variation on full auto and that is the ONLY reason I bought it
if I want to plink with a high degree of precision I have the FX500 or my .25 R3 Long
is it a bit loud? Yeah but less than a stock Condor so thats really not an issue either
tried a few different pellets with no issues
anyways it is what it is 😉
You also paid about $800 less than they paid. Although you bought used and probably have sunk that much more into it with your mods. Still look what you have.
Yes that is pretty sad.
My Royale 500 carbine gets 885 or so average for 50 shots and is about 2/3rds the weight, not ot mention being a tack driver.
I can make my Royale 500 carbine double tap, I just have to work the bolt twice, of course the velocity goes down to the 5 or 6 hundred FPS. 😆
I want to see how Riversides works before I pass final judgement tho.

Well looks like it’s down to just a few of the MAX Fan Bois over on the Yellow. Got to where people couldn’t post any concerns about this $1700.00 gun without them making personal attacks. I thought it was humerous when one of then was trying to sell the idea that heavy was better in a short package.
One of the more trusted members posted a few of his objective observations last night. Here they are based on testing his new MAX:
973 881
973 866
974 870
980 876
982 870
988 860
987 864
982 853
984 843
976 855
953 855
942 833
938 840
942 833
931 839
911 837
877 836
879 826
884 822
885 805
High 988, low 804, avg 897, es 184 sd 58
I have no clue how to fix this velocity spread. Looks like me an Max are on a short term relationship. Due to the following reasons:
Heavy
Will only shoot JSB kings
Approx 25 double taps in 500 rounds so far
Extremely loud
Not as accurate as I had hoped, Prod was more accurate to 40 yards.
Does not get 40 useable shots as advertised.
Full auto un useable
Extreme spread is just not acceptable, wild velocity changes
No joy in Maxville at the moment.
Just received my MAX this morning, going to start a new thread here on my review the beast
Sorry OG, I was clear! I think the Edgun is a great gun but I’m not into bullpups and my interests lie in bigger calibers with much higher power.
But, when it comes to apples to apples comparisons, the Edgun does great. That’s one reason the refund stuff didn’t go over so well!

Jerry, I am sure that you meant that the Edgun is clearly the standard against which any new air gun must measure. 😆
I have seen pictures of a modified Matador that uses a magazine. The front and rear breech blocks were machined to accept the mag.
Despite some recent concerns, the Edgun is clearly the standard against which any new bullpup must measure. It wouldn’t surprise me if an FX magazine from the Monsoon were incorporated for a multishot capability.
So many times I heard that term for past years 🙂 now I am just smiling…
Ed, They have it backwards…it should be the “Killer Edgun”.
You can’t “kill” or even replace perfection. It’s very costly, granted, but everyone still wants one. When are you going to bless us with a repeating action?
Hoot
RS, I look forward to your review on the MAX. I think the fact tha you’ll own both that and an EDgun R3 .25 cal long will lend credence to your review.
As for the weight of the EDgun. My .25 R3 Long weighs in at about 9.5 pounds with the Hawke 6.5-20X scope mounted on it. For the length (34 in) it’s just the right weight combination in my opinion. I like to do a one handed carry with it since doesn’t shoulder like a longer gun.
I’ll go heavy when I get that AZ MFR that I have on my wish list.

😀 Here’s the real problem 😀 you all are buying those $2000 hyped up guns, and Benji is selling Discos for under $300 and Marauds for under $500, and $ for $ My Marauds are smokeing you guys out for only 25% of the price,, LOLOL once in a while some newbe hets a maraud and can’t hold the trigger right or fill it right and don’t know up or down on a scope, and makes ONE complaint, and that does it Crosman is junk LOLOL 😯 Now face it guys, I know Ed is really the best, but not $2000 worth. 😯 Admit it even I myself has all the crosman guns accept the Rogue, for which I won’t buy anything that need a battery to go “”BANG”” 😯 so as long as we live on earth there will be an airgunner trying to beet Crosman and then arguments going on as to why they got a bad $2000+ gun LOLOOLOL Hail Crosman””””” Long live the Benji, I can shoot it off the sites better than some of you guys shoot those $2000+ guns with a High Tech Scope LOLOLOL So to stop the argument and keep the Wife from beating you with her purse for buying a Dud,,,, By Crosman,, and you’ll have enought money left to take the Miss’es out to eat and buy her a few pretty things she likes.LOLOLOL 😀 😀 Old Shaggy Here is going out side to play, and plink with the best,, My 22 caliber Bengi Disco LOLOLOL Did I mention you can do 15 super shots with 2000 PSI 😀 😀 not bad for under $300. Add 7 times the money $2100 to get 50 shots? And have to have $3000psi fill? From 2000 to 3000 is a lot of pumping and I’m not into arobics LOLOLOL 😀 My $300 work out does me just fine … 😯
