Q:

LOTHAR WALTHER TO OFFER A 9MM BARREL !!! GOOD NEWS!!

I noticed a new entry on the Lothar Walther site.
They will be offering 9MM airgun barrels!!!

READ THE FOLLOWING BACKWARDS these are Emails going back and forth:

Woody:

Thanks for the quick response!!!
How do I get signed up for one of these barrels?
I can announce your intension to offer 9MM airgun barrels on the airgun forums.

The bullet I use has been 105 grain, conical, flat nose.
It is about .5 inch long and hand cast from a lee mold — soft lead.
I can get 1050 FPS (250 foot pounds energy) using this bullet.

The gun / bullet combination is very inaccurate (4 inch groups @ 50 yards).
I am using an Addams & Bennett, $79 , 1 in 15 inch, barrel, 26 inch long –>junk!
I cut the barrel OD from 1.25 inch to .75 inch, as a result there are tight and loose areas in the bore.

I just tested with a 125 grain, conical, flat nose bullet. Lee mold #90238
It is .6 inches long and 135 grains, as cast.
I get 1000 FPS, for 300 foot pounds energy.
This is the bullet I intend to use, as it produces more energy.
As of yet, I have not done accuracy testing, with this bullet.

With airguns, increased barrel length equals more power.
28 inches is better than the 26 I am using now.
$125 sounds good by me!

Again: How soon can I get one of your barrels?

Thanks!!!
Mark

Mark,

We are setting up production now on 9mm airgun barrels. They should be ready for ordering about late october.

The OD will beprobably 0.700-0.750″ Length is to be 28″.
Twist will be 18-or 20″. (650fps) However, at the velocity you are getting 16″ would be better.

For a single one, you are looking at $125 give or take some. Possibly less depending on quantity.

After these start production, they will be a stock item here.

What sort of projectile do you use. This may affect the design of the barrel.

Sincerely,

Woody

I sent a barrel to get the proper geometry of the rifling to start from, believe me I wouldn’t re produce anything that Denise makes, anyways where else would you recommend I get barrels from if you have a supplier send me the info; I did try to contact Denis multiple times to buy barrels from him with no answer so I decided to do the only thing I could do?

come up with your own ideas wrt airgun barrels and then get a barrel maker to build that.

They are gonna have 308 also!!!
I been looking for a quality 9MM barrel for a long time now.
You can buy a 9MM barrel blank from “Track of the Wolf” , but it has a pistol twist –> 1 in 10″. Totally unsuitable for an airgun!

I have found that if you cut down the diameter of a firearm barrel, it messes up the diameter of the bore. So firearm barrels dont work so well for airguns.

Sawtime: At the power levels, I am getting, I dont even think about shrouds or moderators, too much muzzel blast to quiet it down. Not quite a “back yard” gun anymore.

So Woody is going to offer the 308 caliber barrels 👿 very interesting especially since I paid for all the tooling in Germany for my project, he has absolutely no honor, I am having my attorney send the main company a letter with all of the email correspondence between Woody and myself where he admits to me paying for the tooling, I even sent him a Quackenbush barrel for comparison and a box of ammo to engineer the rifling.

….sent a barrel of Dennis’ to reverse engineer???? you would do that????
sounds wrong unless of course you have Dennis permission??

Got that bad boy airgun ready for deer season Mark? Please take video this year! 😀 😀

To give those an example of what Marks 9mm air rifle is doing… You may be familar with shooting a 9mm handgun… They’re also about 300 FPE as Mark’s AIR RIFLE is. Trying to quieten that air rifle is near like trying to quieten a 9MM pistol, it will work some but will never be at neighborhood levels. Neat thought eh?

yeah can’t really speak of high power, shit my USA Blood valve hasen’t been installed yet 😳 😳 😳 😳 😳
Sounds like fun, but I am in the suburbs, and noise would get the cops coming to pay me a visit for sure, half of them I went to High School with, but somehow don’t think that matters.
I do go to the dessert often but haven’t had time to mess with the toys lately.
All you guys with acreage out your back door make me jealous.

Dang,
a 28″ shrouded barreled gun would be more than a broom stick,
more like a flag pole 😕 😕 😕 😕 😕

sounds like the start of a group buy thread. If so I’m in. What else would I need to convert to 9mm?

dang that sounds good a micro rifled barrel for airgun use….there definably a market for them
