Q:

My Edgun R3 is finally here!

Edgun R3 .25 Long serial #0249 finally arrives after a long but very worthwhile wait.

Tony did a great job packing. The rifle was double boxed along with thick protective foam wrapped around each end and popcorn to fill any additional gaps.

This shipment has the new stainless steel bolt and a new breech. Internally it also has a new and more efficient valve.

The trigger doesn’t look like it has changed.

She will be getting a new scope soon but for now is wearing the Mueller 4.5-14×40 Tactical scope http://muelleroptics.com/mt451440

Thank you Ed! Thank you Tony!

That’s great news! Post some pics and let me know how your trigger feels. The trigger on mine is very hard. It will be the first thing I adjust. I hope to be able to fire some shots through it soon and get some numbers through the chrono. I just moved and I still need to unpack my pellets and find the chrono. My trigger finger is starting to twitch!

My .25 standard arrived yesterday and the trigger needs some love too. Right now it’s a heavy long pull single stage with no discernible second stage. I removed the stock from the new .25 standard and compared it to my R3 .25 long I received last April and the triggers look identical. I’m sure it can be adjusted to a sweet smooth 2-stage like on my long R3 .25 and my previous R2.5 .22.

Haven’t really messed with the new one yet– haven’t had the time nor a second scope. I think I still prefer my .25 R3 long I received last April; this .25 standard was the second gun that I ordered at the same time as the long back in November 2011. I took delivery of it anyways because a good friend said he wanted it.

Not sure I’m liking the cosmetics on the new style bolt handle– I don’t think it looks as smooth and integrated as the old style bolt handle. Then again if the new bolt handle is stainless at least it won’t surface rust like the old ones if you forget to wipe the bolt handle down after a day of use! The new anodized aluminum breech & bolt housing do match the rest of the rifle’s finish better than the old-style steel breech & bolt housing.

I’ll probably swipe the Bushnell 3-12 x 44 FFP scope off my long .25 to test on the .25 standard this weekend. I’m interested in the shot count difference between the long and the standard when they’re both adjusted to shoot about 890fps.

I wonder what ever happened to Slayer… 😕

Hope he made it home alright… 😯

Probably still shooting!!! 😆

The black stocks always look good on the Edgun! I wish you had a clearer picture. jr, make sure to post some numbers and shots per fill once you have time to shoot. I am very curious on the .25 Standard’s performance since the only minus of the .25 Long is the extra length. The Edgun .25 Long feels very balanced and the weight is not a factor to me. I am also happy to report that even though I’m short I can still walk around holding the .25 Long in one hand with my arm fully extended and pointed toward the ground with plenty of room between the barrel and the ground. I don’t really hunt like this but it does show that even the Long version is still very maneuverable.

Here is my Standard .25 Black

Beautiful looking but no time to shoot
