Awny….I know you are not the sharpest nail in the box, but since the AF guns are air hogs to begin with, have you considered putting a .30 caliber barrel in that Talon, and having TT Tony make up a one piece high flow valve for it, and making that gun your “Heavy Hitter”! A bit of adjustment on hammer weight, and for less than $250 to $300, you could have a 150 yard coyote nut remover for not much money.

Even with a 16″ to 18″ barrel, that gun has the potential to sling some heavy lead a far piece~

:hoot:

ps: Sorry about your bird.

Why be the sharpest nail if I can always get the best feedback from you! Pretty sharp ha! 🙂

I have not considered .30 but considered .25 in the past and then opted for a Vulcan. My thinking of the .30 and above is that a PB is better beyond that crossing point as airguns start losing their ammo cost and low report advantage. Knowing recently that .30 is quieter than .25 may get me to revisit. I also considered air archer kit but had some safety concerns regarding reported misfires.

Awny…do you ever shoot your used, air hog, POS, Talon SS .22?

Hoot:

I do occasionally. I initially thought I would make it my adjustable low energy super quiet gun fpr blinking but then after getting the 177 cricket found the latter way better for that (and multi-shot), so that idea died. However I do still use it occasionally and have an idea for it later.

On thing about the talon though is that its the easiest gun to carry around hands down. Not only because of its light weight but also the weight distribution. So for under 30 yard shooting you can put a light scope on it (or better a red dot) and you get a super light easy to carry gun for point and shoot.

Lots of luck on that flashlight! Unless you are planning on doing anti-aircraft duty there in the desert.

I had the same idea bi-pod/light, but then noticed the forearm rail has an upward slant to it, so the light cannot line up with the barrel’s line of sight.

If you can find a light mount that is adjustable for horizontal slant, let me know. I want one too!

I thought I had it solved when I put the light on the top rail, and mounted the scope below the forearm, but hurt my neck real bad when I attempted a snap shot at an armadillo!

Yes I am aware of this issue Hoot which is a bummer. I searched for possible adapters with no luck. I even considered putting a slated thin piece of wood between the rail and the stock to make up for the angle (that may actually work but I’m not sure). However the angle of the forearm is slated by 6% upward, and for most flash lights even the sharp ones the target area would still be covered. I did some light experimentation but have not taking it to field at night yet, so will let you know more when I test the theory. If it did not work well I may go back and think of a 6% slated thin piece of wood or Aluminum between.

WOW Awny the last picture Is gorgeous!!!! 😉 Very nice guns with right wst stocks.

Jan. A cricket with a WST is not the same cricket. It makes up for the weight of scope and bipod combined in comparison to the synth stock. So if you carry your gun in a hike its a game changer. BTW, the one on the compact in the picture is the walnut one while the one on the standard is peach.

Nice looking Awny. Armadillo probably took gun from Hoot.

I opted for the longer rail to accommodate both the bipod and a flashlight attachment.

And here is the real final product (except the scope is a temp one to be replaced with hawke SW or something else to be determined later)

And proudly standing among its cousins

Ditto…that’s what I did and it works just fine! Pre-drill pilot holes to prevent wood splitting.

Hoot:

OK done old man. One point of caution though is that the recommended 1/8″ pre-drill for #10 (per most tables) may not be enough. I felt the wood surface was about to split while screwing it so went back and widened the drill to 9/64 to get a safe but tight clearance.

The final product below. I will paint the screw heads later. I opted for the longer rail to accommodate both the bipod and a flashlight attachment.
